I Returned to the Day He Brought His First Love Home Chapter 19: A Good Deed a Day
"Look, your boyfriend’s here. He’s so good to you." The nurse chuckled and gave Grace Winslow a teasing look.
Grace Winslow: "..."
For a mont, she had no idea how to explain.
Once the doctor and nurse left, the room was suddenly filled with an awkward silence.
Grace rembered she still didn’t know his na, so she spoke up. "Um, what’s your na?"
"Archer Rhys." The man’s thin lips parted as he coolly stated his na, then handed over the steaming hot porridge.
"The doctor said you were hungry."
Grace froze for a second before it dawned on her, and her face imdiately began to burn with embarrassnt.
Fainting from hunger was hardly sothing to be proud of.
But she was also a little surprised. ’Archer Rhys?’
’That na sounds so familiar.’
Looking again at that expressionless face, at his chiseled, resolute features, the feeling of familiarity grew even stronger.
Before she could figure it out, she felt a weight in her hands—the food container had been placed in them.
At the sa ti, a spoon was pressed into her hand.
Grace snapped back to reality, realizing she had just been staring at him.
Even though she had lived two lives, she still felt a little embarrassed.
"Sorry, um, I... Thank you."
She was stumbling over her words. After speaking, she lowered her head and quietly ate the porridge from the container.
The hospital cafeteria’s porridge wasn’t exactly delicious, but in an era when food was precious, it was a rare treat.
And Archer Rhys had even spent his own money to buy it for her.
After she finished eating, Grace finally spoke. "How much was it? I’ll pay you back for the money and the ration tickets."
Archer took the food container, raising an eyebrow at her words. His exceptionally handso features remained expressionless, but for so reason, Grace felt a chill in his gaze.
She was a bit baffled.
’I didn’t do anything to upset him, did I?’
"No need." Archer stood up. "Just consider it my good deed for the day."
That feeling of familiarity grew stronger.
But before Grace could figure it out, Archer was already gone.
She watched his tall figure retreat, her mouth opening as if to say sothing, but she didn’t know what. All she could do was watch him leave.
Lily Callahan ca by in the afternoon.
She arrived in a hurry, having clearly taken ti off work.
"Grace, things have been pretty busy at ho lately. Are you okay here at the hospital by yourself? If not, I can have my mom co look after you for a couple of days. She isn’t busy right now."
Lily looked at Grace’s still-pale face. When she’d arrived, she had overheard the young nurses at the station talking about how the patient in Room 708 had fainted but was thankfully brought back to her room by her boyfriend.
Now, looking at Grace, she seed to be holding sothing back.
’That scumbag Caleb Forrest... no matter what he does now, Grace absolutely cannot get back together with him.’
’But it just feels wrong for those words to co from .’
Lily hesitated for a mont.
"Sister-in-law, why are you looking at like that? Is there sothing on my face?" The way Lily was staring at her made Grace’s skin crawl, and she looked back at her, confused.
Lily shook her head. After a mont of thought, she asked tentatively, "Did Caleb Forrest co to see you at the hospital today?"
At the ntion of Caleb Forrest, Grace’s eyes grew cold. "Yes."
’Sure enough, that scumbag still dared to co and harass my sister-in-law!’
"Then you..."
"Let’s not talk about him. It’s depressing. Sister-in-law, I don’t want to stay in the hospital anymore. It’s a waste of money. There’s nothing really wrong with . Can you handle the discharge paperwork for ?"
She didn’t want Caleb Forrest coming to bother her again. Just seeing him ruined her mood.
