On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Grace Winslow didn’t go out, sleeping at ho until noon.

The food they ate was all leftovers from the night before.

Nolan Winslow and the others had also returned to their own hos to eat.

Only Gregory Winslow, Irene Lynch, and Grace were left in the house.

After they finished eating, Gregory and Irene each stuffed a red envelope into Grace’s hands.

Holding the red envelopes, Grace felt her eyes well up.

’To think I’d still be getting red envelopes from Mom and Dad.’

She carefully tucked them into her pocket.

"Not going out to have fun today?" Irene Lynch glanced at Grace.

Before she got married, Grace had been the most mischievous one. Even though she was a girl, she was more of a troublemaker than any boy—the type who couldn’t sit still for a minute.

But now, after marrying and divorcing, she had quieted down considerably.

Grace shook her head and hugged Irene’s arm, acting playfully. "I’m not going out. I want to spend today with you and Dad."

Hearing this, Irene couldn’t help but smile, poking Grace’s forehead. "You little sweet-talker."

"Actually, there’s nothing fun to do. The co-op and the departnt store are closed on the first day of the New Year. They don’t open until the fourth," Grace said, shaking Irene’s arm with a hint of complaint.

"Mom, do we have any industrial coupons? Let’s buy a television," Grace said, gently shaking Irene’s arm, though her eyes were fixed on Gregory Winslow.

Irene worked at the neighborhood committee, earning just over ten yuan a month. Her job consisted of trivial matters with no technical skill involved, so getting industrial coupons was out of the question.

Gregory, on the other hand, worked at a good unit. He was a veteran and now, at the very least, a section chief. It wouldn’t be difficult for him to get so industrial coupons.

Gregory could tell what Grace was up to with a single glance.

He shot Grace an exasperated look. "What? The textile factory didn’t issue you a single industrial coupon?"

"That’s right, Mr. Osborne didn’t give any," Grace said, nodding pitifully.

Gregory couldn’t help but find it amusing. "I have so. I’ll have your mom get them for you in a bit. Just wait for the stores to open, and you can go buy one."

"Yay! I knew you were the best, Dad!" Grace couldn’t help but cheer.

In the afternoon, Ryan Winslow ca over to study with Grace. When he heard the family was buying a television, his eyes imdiately lit up.

What kid doesn’t love watching TV?

Before, Irene and Gregory had been reluctant to spend that much money.

After all, a television set was far from cheap.

But now that Grace was earning money, and Brandon Winslow and his wife were too, their finances were more comfortable, so naturally, they were willing to spend it.

The departnt store wouldn’t open until the fourth day of the New Year.

On the second day, they had to visit relatives to offer New Year’s greetings.

Grace disliked these kinds of activities the most, so she asked to stay ho and sleep in.

Irene and Gregory didn’t object. They took their grandsons and went out to make their visits.

Grace slept until noon, only to be woken by a knock on the door.

When she went to open it, she saw five or six people standing at the entrance.

She had just woken up and was still a bit groggy. She stared at the people at the door for a long ti but couldn’t recognize any of them.

But it was the New Year, and any visitor was a guest. She couldn’t just leave them standing there, so she opened the door and let them in.

The group entered and imdiately began sizing up the house’s furnishings.

Then, they swaggered over to the living room sofa and sat down.

One of the n even took off his shoes and planted his blackened feet right on the sofa.

Grace’s brows furrowed. "Are you here for a New Year’s visit? My parents aren’t ho. You should probably head back for now."

"What’s with that tone? I’m your aunt, he’s your uncle-in-law, this is your older cousin, this is your cousin’s wife, and this little one is your niece," the sharp-featured, middle-aged woman snapped, her voice piercing and unpleasant.

Grace had to rack her brain for a long ti before she could place them.

Gregory Winslow had two older sisters and a younger brother. His sisters had married far away—one went to the Northeast, and the other was all the way in Port Elysia. They rarely kept in touch.

The woman before her was the daughter of Gregory’s eldest paternal uncle, which ant she could, loosely, be considered an aunt.

However, the two families were not on good terms.

Years ago, they had fought for a long ti over a plot of hostead land, and in the end, the two families had a falling out.

Later, Gregory joined the army. When he returned from service, he settled down in Prospera Town, and the hostead in their old village was simply taken over by his uncle’s family.

Since Gregory had no intention of moving back, he couldn’t be bothered to pursue the matter.

’I can’t believe these people have the nerve to show up at our house.’

If it weren’t the New Year, Grace would have been tempted to start throwing punches.

"Oh, so it’s you," Grace said, the smile fading from her face. "What brings you to my ho?"

Seeing Grace’s attitude, Daisy Winslow was instantly displeased.

She raised her hand to slap Grace and teach her a lesson about respecting her elders.

But just as she raised her hand, Grace caught her by the wrist. "It’s the New Year. I don’t want to curse, and I don’t want to fight you. But you’d better not test my patience."

"I have a very bad temper. If you’re determined to cause trouble, I don’t mind giving you a couple of slaps to teach you so manners." With that, Grace forcefully shoved her away.

Daisy Winslow stumbled back onto the sofa, her shriek like a pig being slaughtered. "This is outrageous! Is this how Gregory taught you to behave? You uncultured little bitch! No wonder you were divorced! No man wants you!"

"Theodore, hold her down for ! I’m going to teach her a good lesson on how to respect her elders!"

The mont Daisy finished speaking, her hulking son, who weighed over two hundred pounds, let out a lewd chuckle, rubbed his hands together, and started toward Grace.

Grace’s expression turned completely cold.

She finally understood. This family was here on New Year’s Day just to cause trouble.

’They thought they could take advantage of no one being ho to bully , did they?’

’Too bad for them—she was no pushover!’

Grace grabbed the nearest chair and swung it straight at Theodore Zane.

"AH, AAAAAH—"

Theodore never imagined Grace would be so ferocious. Caught completely off guard, he was struck by the chair and imdiately began to wail and howl.

Daisy flew into a panic, pulling her husband to his feet to join the fray against Grace.

Grace swung the chair in a wide arc, making sure everyone got a piece. She even hit Theodore’s wife and daughter, who had been standing on the side just watching the show.

In no ti at all, five people were crouched on the floor in a neat row, all clutching their heads and wailing dramatically.

Gregory, returning with his wife and grandsons, walked in to see this exact scene.

His expression changed instantly. He rushed into the room, his eyes scanning the chaos before finally landing on Grace.

Grace was sitting calmly in a chair, one leg crossed over the other, now holding a rolling pin. Seeing that she didn’t have a single scratch on her, he finally let out a sigh of relief.

’As long as my precious daughter is all right.’

As for the others...

His gaze swept over the people crouched on the floor, and he frowned. "Who are you? Did you co to my house to cause trouble? You must be tired of living."

When Daisy Winslow saw Gregory, she started wailing like a stuck pig all over again, throwing herself forward to grab his leg. "Cousin! She hit us!"

Gregory: "..."
