Chapter 1178: Chapter 695: Infiltrating the Chain Formation_1 Chapter 1178: Chapter 695: Infiltrating the Chain Formation_1 This was not a particularly large tal planet.
The tal planet’s location was just 0.1 light-years away from the edge of the Galactic Center Do.
It did not exist in isolation, but as part of an imnsely massive system of unnaturally made objects.
It could be seen as a component of a giant machine.
This machine was nad by human scholars as the Galactic Center Iron Wall Chain Formation, covering the outside of the Galactic Center Do, composed of countless artificial planets.
In the Galactic Center within the Do, countless stars constantly emit massive amounts of light, providing the space with an inexhaustible supply of light energy.
After failing to break through the human defenses by dispatching three large fleets at once, and entering a state of deadlock and tension, the Compound-Eyed Observer spent a large population, resources, and 20 years of ti, to build this chain array outside the Galactic Center Do.
The Chain Formation consists of as many as a billion planets, forming an ellipse-shaped structure 2.2 light-years high around the Galactic Center in the middle of the Milky Way Galaxy.
There is considerable variation in the composition, function, and species of the planets, ranging from tal fortresses and Earth-like blue planets to pure geothermal rock planets suitable for silicon-based life without an atmosphere, and even habitats for energy-based life composed only of powerful space-binding magnetic fields without a physical form.
Clearly, the Compound-Eyed Observer had pulled out all the stops, leveraging all the technology and enslaved species accumulated through their exploration of the Milky Way Galaxy for countless years.
Planets were connected tightly by artificially enhanced directional gravitational forces to form a chain-like web structure.
The Chain Formation has three main functions.
First, it monitors the surrounding space with an interlocking detection field to prevent the approach of human special operations units and detectors near the Galactic Center Do.
Second, it is the core of the Compound Eyed Observer’s productivity, producing everything from ships and military equipnt to enslaved populations, scientific and technological resources, and more, both material and non-material resources alike.
Third, it serves as an impenetrable military defense fortification line.
For more than twenty years, the Iron Wall Chain Array has served as both the final robust defense line in front of the Galactic Center Do and a constant source of military strength, greatly hindering humanity’s next steps and posing an ever-present threat to its heartland, leaving humans deeply resentful but powerless to do anything about it.
Since 2982, after digging in at the Cloudtop Star Region and pinning down the three fleets newly dispatched by the Compound-Eyed Observer at the front of the Cloudtop War Zone, incidents of small-scale infiltration attacks by human special operations fleets near the Galactic Center have been occurring daily.
Three days ago, a not-so-major battle erupted near this tal planet, and the remote commander in charge of the battle was Nora Camp.
Nearly a hundred human high-speed warships suddenly warped to this location and launched a surprise attack on this unnatural tal planet bathed in the luminescence of nurous star clusters.
Upon detecting the approach of the enemy ships, nearly ten million large and small Compound Eye Army combat units lying in wait near the tal planet suddenly shed their disguises and attacked from all sides.
The battle lasted less than ten minutes, with the human fleet announcing its complete annihilation. Only one highly mobile and defensively capable manned command ship escaped, while all the other unmanned intelligent warships were destroyed.
This battle did not cause much of a stir, as the Compound-Eyed Observer had already beco completely numb to these seemingly pointless small-scale human raids.
By now, three days had passed since the battle, the smoke had cleared, and the shattered and lted tal debris had long since solidified.
Small amounts of high-energy batteries that had been blown open were still spewing particle flas, dotting the empty starry sky like short-lived stars.
In space, wreckage of various sizes and shapes floated chaotically.
Most of the wreckage ca from destroyed human ships, with only a small portion coming from the Compound Eye Fleet.
Countless beetle-sized creatures, shaped like seven-spotted ladybugs, wandered amid the debris-laden battlefield.
The beetles’ flight thod was incredibly primitive, relying on constant collision with low-density space particles in cosmic space and the rapid flapping of their tiny wings to generate thrust and move at a low-energy slow speed.
The beetles sward the battlefield, occasionally landing on larger or smaller pieces of wreckage, biting with their mandibles and spraying acid from their mouths, breaking down whole chunks of recyclable wreckage into tiny milliter-sized particles before carrying them back to the unmanned mother ship patrolling nearby, where they were constantly collected, processed, and transported.
Of course, so beetles were extrely unlucky. They detected a recyclable energy source and flew over in droves, only to have the coveted high-energy battery explode just as they arrived. A large group of beetles were instantly lted by the blast.
But, interestingly, these liquefied tal beetles would briefly enter a state of suspended animation, floating silently and waiting to cool completely. Within two to four hours, the seemingly dead beetles would slowly regain their mobility and continue to seek out battlefield resources to transport back to their patrolling mother ship.
These beetles were the primary resource recovery machines of the pure chanical life Glenoid race living on the tal planet.
Space debris recycling took nearly a week in total.
The once ssy space environnt was gradually restored to clarity.
