“I’ve already transferred all of my mories into the consciousness body,” Wu Zhaodi said, looking at Xu Zimo. “As long as this second consciousness isn’t destroyed, I’ll be able to recall everything.”
“Now I’ll need to erase part of your mory,” Xu Zimo replied.
“Erase my mory?” Wu Zhaodi frowned in confusion.
“When that being cos, it’ll definitely probe your mind. The sches we planned together can’t be discovered,” Xu Zimo explained. “So I have to remove that portion of your mory.”
“Sure. No problem,” Wu Zhaodi nodded.
Her mories were already backed up in her second consciousness, so losing a part of her current mory wouldn’t affect her much.
However, mory erasure wasn’t a simple matter.
Making soone completely lose their mory was easy, but selectively erasing specific fragnts while keeping the rest intact, and without harming the person, was far more difficult.
Xu Zimo had to rely on the power of the Primordial Chaos Bead to enter Wu Zhaodi’s River of Fate.
Wu Zhaodi sat cross-legged, her eyes gently closed, her eyelashes trembling slightly, a sign of her nervousness.
Opening one’s River of Fate without resistance ant complete trust, for it exposed every secret, every mory to the other’s gaze.
Xu Zimo wasn’t one to pry into another’s past. He only needed to find and erase the portion of mory related to their secret plans.
Above them, the Primordial Chaos Bead floated, emanating waves of pure white radiance that fell upon them like moonlight.
Xu Zimo placed his hands upon her brow, and his soul left his body, plunging into the boundless current of her fate.
He had seen the River of Fate before, back on the Primordial Heartlands, but that had been the river of a world. Vast, surging, imasurable.
Wu Zhaodi’s by contrast, was like a andering stream winding through the void.
Yet within that small stream, every droplet of water carried the weight of destiny, each drop worth millions of pounds.
It was her life, her very existence.
As she experienced more and grew stronger, her River of Fate would expand, until her death, when it would return to the Heavenly Dao and replenish the world.
This was the cycle of heaven and earth.
All beings drew spirit energy from the world, and upon death, they gave back everything to the Heavenly Dao.
Xu Zimo moved carefully; a single misstep could spell disaster.
Drawing upon the Primordial Chaos Bead’s power, he fixed his gaze upon the flowing river.
Wu Zhaodi’s life played out before him like a film, each scene vivid and real.
Finally, he found the mory that involved him.
With a flick of his hand, sharp as a blade, he severed that fragnt of mory.
It looked effortless, done within seconds, but sweat drenched his entire body.
It was as if he had been pulled from the depths of the ocean. One wrong move, and her River of Fate could have been thrown into chaos, her destiny shredded beyond repair.
Once the task was done, the Primordial Chaos Bead’s power drew him back from that void realm.
“It’s done,” Xu Zimo said as his soul returned to his body.
Wu Zhaodi slowly opened her eyes, a hint of confusion flickering within them.
She rembered Xu Zimo, how they t, how he helped her take revenge, but the mories of their secret plot were gone.
Xu Zimo knew that if that being ever found her and took control of her mind, her second consciousness would awaken and reveal everything to her.
But if that being never found her, the secret would die with ti. Xu Zimo himself couldn’t be sure what the outco would be.
That existence was simply too mysterious, always acting through subordinates or proxies, never showing itself.
“You’re the Realm Lord now,” Xu Zimo said softly. “It’s ti for to go.”
“Where are you going?” Wu Zhaodi asked quickly.
“Just wandering,” he smiled.
In truth, he intended to head for the Ancient Demon Realm, but he didn’t tell her that, fearing that if that being pried into her thoughts, it might learn his plan.
“You’re leaving now?” she asked.
Xu Zimo nodded slightly. As he walked out of the grand cultivation hall, he turned back, smiled faintly, and said, “I hope that when we et again, we’ll both be well.”
With that, he rose into the air and disappeared over the horizon, vanishing from Wu Zhaodi’s sight.
“Zhaodi,” ca an old, cheerful voice. Grandpa Wang approached with a broad smile. “Everything in the sect has been taken care of. The disciples have been cald, and your enthronent as Realm Lord is set for three days from now. All the major sects have been notified.”
“I understand,” Wu Zhaodi said with a nod.
“And what about that young master Xu?” Grandpa Wang looked around. “Where is he?”
“He’s gone,” Wu Zhaodi replied quietly.
“Gone?” Grandpa Wang’s eyes widened. “How could you let him go?”
“Young Master Xu has his own matters to attend to,” Wu Zhaodi said. “He couldn’t possibly stay here forever.”
“Young people,” Grandpa Wang sighed, shaking his head. “eting soone like that doesn’t happen often, you should’ve held on to him!”
“Grandpa Wang, what are you talking about?” Wu Zhaodi protested quickly. “We’re just friends.”
“Friends, yes… I understand,” Grandpa Wang said with a teasing smile.
If they were only friends, would he have done so much for her?
“Really, just friends! Oh, forget it, you’re impossible,” Wu Zhaodi muttered, turning back toward the hall.
Yet, deep down, even she couldn’t deny her feelings. She had thought about it, but they were destined to walk different paths, two people from different worlds.
The Ancient Demon Realm lay at the very heart of the Godfiend Abyss Heaven.
After confirming its location from Celestial Devourer, Xu Zimo flew Chaos toward it.
Even as he traveled, he wrestled with doubt.
What identity should he assu when facing the Ancient Demons?
He had already decided not to disturb Hellfire Asura. The latter had chosen to withdraw from the world, and since he had once fought at Xu Zimo’s side, Xu Zimo was willing to grant him peace.
But what about the rest of the Ancient Demon Race?
Were they like Hellfire Asura, content with their current lives, unwilling to fight against the world again?
After much thought, Xu Zimo resolved to learn the truth of the Ancient Demon Race’s intentions first.
If they were unwilling, he would not force them.
Chaos soared across the endless blue sky, swift as lightning.
For days the weather fluctuated, thunder, rain, wind, and storm. Traveling like this, he journeyed for over a month before reaching the Ancient Demon Realm.
Descending from Chaos, he found himself before a dead city.
Weeds choked the streets. The ruins were silent and lifeless, devoid of any trace of habitation.
Before him stood a stone stele.
As he approached, Xu Zimo saw that the stele was blank, no words, no carvings.
“How do you enter the Ancient Demon Realm?” he asked, summoning Celestial Devourer.
