"I admire you, I really do. It’s quite an eye-opener. When can we gather to share experiences?"

Seeing the surrounding police officers from Jinling City with faces full of flattery, Feng Yonglin felt nothing but embarrassnt.

He felt as if everyone was mocking him.

With a sullen face, he returned all the way to the temporary office of the task force.

"Feng Da, it was my carelessness. Yue Cheng said he needed to use the bathroom. I didn’t expect him to unlock his handcuffs when I went in. I was caught off guard and was knocked unconscious by him. Fortunately, Li Xiang chased after him and brought him back."

Mao Ji saw Feng Da and quickly stood at attention, taking the initiative to admit his mistake. It was indeed due to his negligence, but luckily no error was made, or the consequences would have been unimaginable.

"We’re losing face all the way in Jinling. Now, everyone outside is laughing at our Jinghai’s joke. I really don’t have the face to stay here any longer."

Mao Ji and Li Xiang both bowed their heads like children who had done sothing wrong, waiting for a reprimand from their guardian.

"What are you standing around for? Pack up the files. We’re heading back to Jinghai."

"Yes."

Song Xiaowen has been caught, and the case is basically concluded. It’s ti to return to Jinghai. He also needed to report the work to the leaders in Jinling and express his gratitude.

Just as he was about to head to the director’s office, his phone rang. What a coincidence! Just ntioning it, Director Xu called him.

"Hello, Director Xu, this is Feng Yonglin."

"Feng Da, I heard you’re back. Are you free now? Co to my office; I have sothing to discuss with you."

"I’m free. I’ll co over right now."

Feng Yonglin took a deep breath and ntally prepared himself. Director Xu was obviously looking for him because of the recent incident. When his subordinates lost face, as deputy team leader, he had to co out and cover up.

And also thanked the Jinling police for their assistance in recapturing the suspect Yue Cheng. Otherwise, the blunder would have been bigger and might have even made national headlines.

By then, Jinghai City would truly be known nationwide.

With this thought, he quickly tidied up his attire and headed to the director’s office.

Knock, knock, knock~ "Report."

"Feng Da is here, co in."

After entering, Feng Yonglin saw that there was not just one person in the office. Besides Director Xu, there was a middle-aged man in plain clothes. This man had a square face with a two-centiter scar near his eyebrow, adding a touch of fierceness to his stern expression.

"This is Comrade Feng Yonglin, head of the task force from Jinghai. Co, Feng Da, let introduce you. This is Director Yan Xiong from the Provincial Drug Enforcent Bureau. He was in Jinling recently for work guidance. Upon hearing about today’s incident, he ca over specifically to learn about the situation."

Hearing Yan Xiong’s na, Feng Yonglin’s heart sank. Yan Xiong had a stellar reputation in the public security field, having fought his way to the position of Drug Enforcent Bureau Director from the grassroots level. If not for his shallow background, he might have already moved to the ministry.

Now it’s truly embarrassing, losing face all the way to the provincial departnt.

Standing before these two senior officials, both of whom were of the main departnt level, the pressure on Feng Yonglin was significant.

"Hello, Director Yan. I wasn’t aware of your presence in Jinling; otherwise, I would have reported to you sooner."

Feng Yonglin quickly stood at attention and saluted, his attitude very proper.

"No need for formalities. My visit to Jinling is actually for a confidential mission, and not many know about it. Today’s incident piqued my interest, so I decided to et you," Yan Xiong waved his hand, preferring substance over formality. To him, the cases were paramount.

"I made a fool of myself in front of the leaders. It was our lack of managent that almost led to the suspect’s escape. Thanks to the cooperation of the Jinling police, he was recaptured."

Feng Yonglin spoke sincerely, complinting the Jinling law enforcent once more in front of Director Xu, hoping he would put in a good word for them to Director Yan.

Feng Da was truly anxious, cautiously dealing with the two top leaders.

"Feng Da, you’re being too modest. The suspect escaping from our detention room suggests flaws in our security system. I’ve already made a self-criticism to Director Yan and will ensure a security system upgrade in the shortest ti. The person was apprehended by your team, and the capture indeed provided a vivid lesson for our Jinling police. We need to strive to catch up."

Listening to Director Xu’s words, Feng Yonglin felt sothing odd. Was his leadership genuinely mocking him?

But from the expression, it didn’t seem like a joke?

Could it be true?

Uh, what am I joking about—it can’t possibly be true.

"Let’s cut the mutual flattery and get down to business. Who is the youngest comrade in your team?"

Hearing Director Yan ask who the youngest in their task force was, Feng Yonglin’s first thought was Zhao Yin, but he realized that Zhao Yin had just left with him. Among those remaining, there was only Mao Ji and Li Xiang. Could it be that Director Yan was asking about Li Xiang?

"His na is Li Xiang."

"Are you sure it’s Li Xiang?"

"Yes."

"That’s odd. Why don’t we have his records in our public security system?"

Yan Xiong found it strange. Even if his file was classified, their authority should still allow access. Yet, all they found were nasakes, none of whom were the person they were looking for.

"Report, he is not yet a police officer."

"Not a police officer?"

Xu Yuanjie and Yan Xiong were both sowhat surprised. Such a talent, yet not a police officer? What was he, then?

"Yes, he is an auxiliary police officer, currently undergoing training with our task force."

"Auxiliary police?"

Are you kidding ? Such a talent, and he’s an auxiliary officer?

"Heh, Jinghai Public Security sure has a knack for nurturing talent."

Feng Yonglin could tell that Director Xu’s statent was absolutely mocking their task force for even allowing an auxiliary officer in, so he quickly explained: "Li Xiang is special. Before last year, he single-handedly captured an A-level wanted criminal listed by three provinces, earning him a personal second-class rit. We hope that through his training in our task force, he has the opportunity to beco a formal police officer."

Destined to protect the honor of their Jinghai Public Security, Feng Yonglin was naturally determined to defend it.

Little did he know, the more passionately he spoke, the brighter Yan Xiong’s eyes beca. This was exactly the ideal candidate he pictured.

Unexpectedly, his trip to Jinling bore unexpected joy.

"Alright, I understand the situation. You may leave now."

"Yes."

As Yan Xiong let him go, he instinctively saluted and turned to leave, but suddenly rembered he still had a report to make, so he turned back and said, "Director Xu, our case is completed, and we’ll return to Jinghai this afternoon. Sorry for the trouble over these days."

"Uh, leaving so soon? Why not stay a few more days? I’ll have Captain Yan give you a tour of Jinling. Haven’t had a chance to properly extend our hospitality yet."
