Blaze tilts his head slightly to look at Rufus, one of the lieutenants under Nadyr.
The guy is tall and skinny, looking exactly like a long pole. He wears a white shirt with a tie and a pair of gray pants.
Rufus has short black hair mixed with slightly grey hair and a stubble beard under his jaw.
The robots alongside him are at least 2 ters. They have a white, smooth surface for the main body and black tal limbs.
The robots have no facial features at all, only a large cara in front acting as its eye. There is also a cara in the back of its head.
"Rufus! This guy is trying to cause trouble!"
One of the guards says.
Rufus examines Blaze but quickly brushes him off when he sees William.
"William, my boy! Nadyr has been talking about you! You are as efficient as always. We have already received the Lioness!"
William sweats heavily, screaming inside.
Shut up! Shut up, bitch! You want to get burned or what!
Blaze acts nonchalantly and speaks up.
"William. Why don't you introduce us?"
"Ah, yes! This is my friend, Rufus.
Rufus, this is..."
"I am the Wraith. And I co here with a proposition to Nadyr."
"Oh! You're a B-rank?"
"I certainly am."
"You have a power badge with you?"
"I don't have a power badge."
Blaze shakes his head.
Rufus laughs out loud.
"Oh... You're one of those. William, you haven't told that you do border jobs as well?"
William scratches his head.
"Yeah. I am only starting, so... Yeah..."
"Move aside, boys. Why keep our custor waiting?"
Rufus says to the guards.
"But Rufus, we don't know this freak."
"What?! Are you disobeying now?
Do you know who opened this place, dickheads?
Not even an A-rank dares to cause trouble. Just keep doing your job and keep junkies and trashy away from our establishnt.
Your job is not to deal with these high-profile shits, alright?"
A robot suddenly grows taller, reaching three ters tall. All of its hands turn into blade edges, aiming at the guards.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry, boss! Let us open the doors for you!"
The guard quickly opens the gate and then stands to the side with their head lowered.
"Stupid mofo!"
Rufus waves his hand. The robots turn back to being docile, looking nothing different from helper robots.
"Co, friend! Let lead you to Nadyr."
Rufus leads the way. Blaze and William follow.
A raven flies down from above and lands on Blaze's shoulder. It whispers sothing into his ear.
"Oh! You are a Manipulator too, I see?" Rufus says.
A Manipulator is an Awakened with the power to control objects, constructs, or specific beings. This can range from machinery constructs like Rufus's power to animal companions like he assus Blaze has.
A very common power category in Ranas.
But not to be mistaken for Controller, which is mostly elent users like William and Isaac.
Blaze nods toward the raven, and it flies away. He then answers Rufus' question:
"You can say so."
"What's up with the getup? I'm not trying to pry, but that is an unusual costu.
That face too, you did costic surgery, didn't you?"
The white surface with golden patterns is embedded on the figure's face. One looks, and people can easily realize that it is not a mask.
"No. Not really."
"Not a talkative type, are you? Well, don't worry. We have a guy like that too.
Sergei is also not a fan of small talk. You are probably going to be good friends with him.
So, what's your goal here, Wraith? Want to buy so girls, or are you intending to open a franchise?"
"You can say that I am interested in a girl."
"Haha! I knew it. Don't worry, buddy. One girl or two girls, as long as you have the credits, they are all yours."
Rufus then takes a look at William. He notices William's nervousness and the green scales hiding under the collar.
"What's wrong with your neck?"
"Oh, um... I think I just awakened another power."
William tries to think of sothing to say.
"No way. A second awakening? You are blessed, William. No wonder you are Nadyr's favorite.
Where are the other boys at?"
"We encountered a strong Crisis. They were... injured, so they had to visit the Pocket Center."
"I see."
A robot opens the door for the three to go inside the Roof.
The first floor of the mansion is a rather normal looking house with a long white hallway and wooden floorboards.
Rufus takes off his shoes and puts them in a container on the side.
"House rule. You can't wear shoes inside the roof. Sorry about that."
"It's alright. I don't wear any shoes."
Black surface covers Blaze's entire feet. It is hard to decide whether he is wearing sothing on his feet or not.
William, however, removes his shoes as he always did when coming to the Roof.
Rufus keeps the smiling facade and doesn't say anything.
Unknowingly, the robots are all standing around them.
The three walk a few more steps inside when a robot's arm turns into a blade and thrusts Blaze from behind.
William imdiately scales up. A green layer covers his forearm, forming a natural protective shield. He steps behind Blaze and blocks the strike.
"What's the aning of this, Rufus?!"
William shouts.
Rufus retreats farther into the hallway, still smiling.
"Stop the charade, shapeshifter! I know you aren't William."
All the other robots transform.
One robot has its arms turned into cannons.
One forms a large shield and stands in front of Rufus.
The third becos bigger, with its figure almost covering the entire hallway.
The fourth stays the sa but lowers its body and stands on four feet.
The fifth is the bladed robot who just attacked Blaze.
"What are you talking about, Rufus?! I am William!"
"Right. Keep lying, fucker."
Blaze looks down to the ground. The Destruction Wand appears in his hand and shoots out lightning.
This is a normal Lightning Strike, not the enhanced version, Thunderbolt.
The wooden floorboards get destroyed, revealing a particular machine underneath.
"A scanner, eh? This is how you know William isn't William, am I correct?"
Rufus doesn't answer.
"What do you an, Master? I am who I am."
Blaze shakes his head.
"Your body isn't anymore. They probably checked your DNA."
"What?!"
Rufus squints his eyes.
"Keep acting, fools. Your pathetic life ends here."
The skinny man waves his hand. The cannon robot imdiately shoots two electrical balls toward Blaze.
"Darkness."
The Moonlight Karambit appears in Blaze's hand, and from within it pours out unimaginable darkness that fills the hallway.
The electrical balls and all the robots are consud within the shadow.
Rufus gasps and turns his back to run away. All the robots follow suit.
A white crescent-shaped energy blade shoots out of the dark sphere and strikes Rufus.
His body is sliced in two. The chanical parts drop on the ground.
Rufus, the person who they were speaking to, is only an android.
Blaze steps out of the sphere. The shadow disappears, revealing all the robots being cut into pieces on the ground.
"A decoy. How predictable."
Blaze says.
"Master! What do we do now?"
An alarm noise filled the Roof. Black bars drop down at the door behind them.
There is no going back now.
Blaze simply says: "We kill everyone."
