"Hmm..."
Richard stared keenly at his UltraPhone 17 Pro Max.
It was certainly the best smartphone that existed during his ti on Earth.
Although he was an average boy by every definition, he loved to play gas and watch online videos. As such, he needed a great device that could support this hobby of his.
This was why he saved up a lot of money in his part-ti job until he could afford this device.
And was it worth it?
Hell yeah!
Not only did it have 1 Terabyte of SD Storage, but it also had 32 Gigabytes of RAM.
The Cara quality was also top-notch, and the display was nothing to sniff at. In terms of comrcial products, this had the best value by far.
It was just so freaking expensive.
Still—
’A nobody like could save up enough money to purchase it, so I guess that qualifies as it being of common quality. Since it can fit into my hands, and has no Mystical Characteristic, that makes it eligible for summoning.’
Richard’s [Basic Summoning] had too many restrictions.
However, he quickly realized that—for many items from Earth—these restrictions were almost aningless to him.
He could summon any book, weapon, material, and so on from Earth.
As long as such material fulfilled the basic stipulations, he could summon virtually anything from his old world. This caused his range of options to increase several tis more than what he would normally have access to.
His trash ability had suddenly beco sothing rather extraordinary.
However—
’It’s not like I’ve beco invincible or anything...’ Richard sighed deeply as he stared at the screen of his smartphone.
This was indeed the phone he rembered using on Earth.
It had the sa design, the sa wallpaper, the sa password, and even the sa applications.
But he couldn’t open half of them.
The cause was due to the troubling sign that beca conspicuous at the top left side of his screen.
’No Internet service, huh?’ Richard sighed. ’Without Internet, I can’t surf the web or access any information I don’t already have on my phone.’
That was a very glaring issue—a huge detrint to his overpowered device.
Richard didn’t know how the Internet worked, but he figured it had to with invisible waves connected to broadcast channels, networks, and satellites—none of which existed in this world.
It wasn’t like he had ever worked closely with a service provider before he died.
He was only 16 years old.
An average guy.
Still—
’Without the internet, my range of options has drastically reduced... but that doesn’t an I am completely helpless.’ A small smile appeared on his face at this mont. ’Let’s see...’
He opened his ’File Explorer’ and clicked on the ’Downloads’ part of the screen.
There, he saw them—
"All the files I downloaded back on Earth... they’re still here!"
His grin widened.
These files included all manner of pictures, videos, gas, and interesting data that he collected on his phone. Back then, since he had 1 TB of space, he decided to go all-out and download anything he could get his hands on.
’I guess that paid off in the end...’ His smile broadened when he discovered sothing else.
’T-this is... my Light Novel collection!’
Richard was an ordinary guy, soone who was largely dependent on his parents for his financial needs. He had a part-ti job as well, but that wasn’t nearly enough to sort out his needs.
Soone like that would obviously be very stingy with his money.
Especially when he had just saved up an incredible amount to purchase his new phone.
Because of that—
’I downloaded so many PDFs and EPUB Files from those Pirate Sites so I could read my favorite Webnovels and Light Novels. Normally, I would purchase them on the sites or get physical copies, but... I was broke, so....’
Richard didn’t know why he was explaining himself.
It wasn’t like there was anyone reading his thoughts or judging him for his actions.
Of course, he knew the right thing to do to support the author of the works that he was enjoying. Still, as soone who beca broke, he had to keep indulging in his hobbies.
That led him down the rabbit hole of piracy.
’I downloaded way more novels than I could read. Many of them are gathering cobwebs in my digital archives. Now that I can no longer download anything, I guess I can pass the ti reading these novels, huh?’ Richard heaved a sigh of relief.
It had been over ten years since he read a single good novel.
Everything in the Blanc Household Library was boring books about politics and history. Science in this world was different from that of Earth, and while there wasn’t Magic per se, there were still mystical elents in this world.
All of them were docunted in these books, and he had to read them for his education.
As one would expect, they weren’t at all what Richard preferred.
Of course, he still read them in order to understand this world, but he didn’t enjoy them the slightest bit. Now, though—
"I have access to an entire library of my favorite books. I can also take pictures and videos with this phone, so that will be very useful. I can play music and record myself as well...." Richard began to list things he could use his phone for even without the Internet.
Although they weren’t as ’broken’ as having the Internet, it was still plenty.
’But there’s an issue...’
Richard didn’t know whether the pictures he took on his phone would vanish once he resummoned the item. After all, his smartphone could only exist for a certain period of ti, which ant he would have to summon it every ti he wanted to use it.
’So, will any changes made to the phone still exist once I resummon it?’
He had to test it out!
Richard took a few selfies of himself, summoned his phone, and then cast [Basic Summoning] once again.
The item appeared.
"Let’s see..." He went to his phone’s gallery, and just as he feared... the images were gone.
Then, he had a thought.
’What if I do it like this...?’ He unsummoned his smartphone and used [Basic Summoning] to call forth the first smartphone he summoned. In his mind, he imagined the exact smartphone that he used in the world.
However—
"Nothing appeared, huh? That sucks..."
What did this an?
’I guess once the item enters this world, it stops being a ’common’ thing that can be summoned.’
It made sense when looking at it logically.
A smartphone did not exist in this world, which made it a rare item by definition.
So, he could not summon such a thing with [Basic Summoning].
He could, however, still summon the one he had at ho.
’Fuck! That ans whatever changes I make to my smartphone basically beco nonexistent once it vanishes...’ Richard gritted his teeth once he realized what a massive disadvantage such a thing was to him.
Still, he couldn’t really complain.
His Principal Disposition still had a lot of applications, and for a Low Rank ability, it was far more useful than anyone would expect it to be.
Richard knew that such an ability was even higher than most dium Rank Principal Disposition. In terms of utility and versatility alone, it could be considered at the upper range of dium Rank.
However, he knew he couldn’t quite call it High Rank just yet.
Why?
Well, [Basic Summoning] had one major flaw... and that was the temporary state of the items summoned.
Since they were summoned with an ability, these objects couldn’t last forever.
At most... a day.
After that, the item would vanish and would have to be re-summoned.
’I can only summon one item at a ti, too...’ Richard sighed, once again feeling depressed by the trash nature of his Principal Disposition.
But what could he do?
’I guess I can only experint and find out ways to make this work.’
Without rembering to unsummon his smartphone, Richard thought about the gun from earlier and summoned it.
He must have made a subconscious assumption that the smartphone would disappear on its own. However, much to his surprise, a miraculous thing occurred.
"E-eh...?!"
He had a gun in his right hand, and in his left hand, the smartphone remained.
"The fuck...?!" His eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. "I can summon two items at once!"
This was unbelievable!
