Her eyes fluttered open, and when she t the soundly sleeping face of Levi, his face re inches from hers. She gasped while a blush crept up her cheeks as she tried to untangle herself from his embrace. "Levi," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Panic surged through her as instead of waking up, Levi pulled her even closer to him and she tried harder to disentangle herself.

"Levi!" she exclaid, this ti her voice was sharper.

Levi, startled by her sudden movent and voice, tumbled off the bed, landing with a thud on the floor. He groaned, rubbing his head. "What the hell?" he muttered, his eyes still heavy with sleep.

Just then, the door creaked open. Mrs. Van Doren, Levi’s mother, peered into the room. "Is everything alright?" she asked, her voice filled with concern as she looked from her son who was on the ground to Lyse who was looking like a deer caught in headlights.

Lyse and Levi exchanged a bewildered glance. "Yes, Mother, everything is fine," Levi assured her. "Just a little startle."

Mrs. Van Doren nodded, a look of relief crossing her face. "Alright, then. Just be careful. Would you like to have breakfast with in the garden then?"

"Yes mother, we will join you soon."

Lovely With that, she closed the door and bead as she stood outside.

Her mind had been filled with doubts about this marriage with Lyse most especially considering the timing. Even Lyse’s answer had not entirely put her worried to rest but she felt better seeing as the couple spent the night in bed together.

There was no way they would have known that she was right by their door and then acted so fast. She would just speak to Levi and have him put any worries she had to bed.

Once they were alone, Levi turned to Lyse and stood up, his eyes filled with confusion. "What on earth was that about?" he asked. "Why did you push ?"

Lyse was still reeling from the shock. "How did I get here?" she demanded. "I went to sleep on the couch."

Levi’s eyebrows furrowed then he stared at her and then at the couch which still had the blanket strewn haphazardly. "I don’t know. I an i just woke up and you were here. I am as surprised as you are."

Lyse was skeptical. "You are sure you didn’t...carry here?" she asked, her voice laced with doubt.

Levi shook his head. "I swear, Lyse. I did not touch you. I am just as confused as you are."

"How then do we explain my being in your bed when I went to sleep on the couch." Lyse insisted indignantly.

Levi’s forehead furrowed with worry. After he had crawled into bed last night he had not been able to sleep and he had listened to Lyse while she kept tossing and turning.

He had almost suggested that she take the bed if that would make her feel more comfortable but he thought of how her face would scrunch up stubbornly and he had given up on that idea and let her struggle alone. Soti in the night he had fallen asleep, lulled by the sounds of the house. He always slept better when he was back ho.

"Listen, I did not touch you." Levi said tightly, he hated being accused for things that he did not know and the accusing look in Lyse’s eyes tore him. "Even when you were tossing and you could not sleep I did not say a word."

Seeing the sincerity in his eyes, Lyse began to doubt her own accusation. She knew for a fact that she had gone to sleep on the couch and after tossing around she eventually fell asleep.

So then, how did she get in his bed?

Then a mory that she had buried suddenly resurfaced. She had been nine years old and afraid of thunderstorms, she had been left alone shivering in her dank room which had a broken window that had been covered with a wooden sheet, so the thunder sounded like it was happening right in her own room.

Eventually the thunderstorm died down and Lyse fell asleep but she had horrible nightmares. She woke up that morning to screams from Brooke, she had climbed up the stairs, gotten into Brooke’s room and crawled into bed with her all in her sleep.

And despite trying to explain that she had been unaware of what she was doing, Lyse’s punishnt had been that she went without breakfast for an entire week and she slept with a fear that she would sleep walk again and get into even worse punishnt.

Perhaps she had sleepwalked again, it had never happened again after that one night but it was the only explanation that made sense.

A wave of embarrassnt washed over her. She had accused him without any evidence. "I...I apologize, Levi," she stamred.

Levi frowned and wondered why she switched from accusing him for a heinous act to apologizing in the sa breath.

"I must have sleep walked." She said, unable to raise her eyes.

Levi’s expression softened as things fell into place, that was a plausible explanation. "It’s alright, Lyse. We all do strange things sotis."

An uncomfortable silence fell between them. Then, Levi broke the silence. "So, you’re a sleepwalker, huh?" he asked, a mischievous glint in his eye. "And your subconscious directed your feet to my bed. Just one night and you are already climbing into bed with ."

Lyse scowled, feeling a blush creep up her cheeks. "Don’t think too much of it." She said then rose from the bed and stord out of the room while Levi chuckled.

It seed that this marriage of his was going to be a very entertaining one and he for one could not wait to see what else Lyse had up her sleeves.

He narrowed his eyes as he rembered how his mother had been around his door right at that mont that he had fallen off the bed. He was glad it happened because it would ease so of the doubts that he was sure she had.
