Yuri was curious about why these folks kept calling her "big sis". This question left Tuss scratching his head. After so thought, he said earnestly, "It’s your strength that’s won them over, Yuri. They’re calling you ’big sis’ out of respect and admiration."
Yuri fell silent. "I’m still twenty-sothing days shy of my nineteenth birthday. I don’t want to be anyone’s big sis."
Tuss didn’t say anything for a long while, and just when Yuri thought he was upset, he spoke, a hint of complaint in his voice. "I’m not the oldest in our group either. Many are older than , but they still call ’big brother’."
Yuri smirked, downed the bottle of Nutrient Fluid in one gulp and popped open another one.
"So, what’s Officer Lyao’s take on our constant revelation of our true power?" Yuri deflected.
"I’m not sure," Tuss honestly admitted. "He doesn’t seem bothered, probably just letting us be as long as we’re no threat to the Alliance."
That was mainly because one of them was an SSS-tier alpha and the other an SSS-tier beta. Their importance to the Alliance was self-evident, granting them certain privileges not many others possessed.
Yuri lay back and said, "If push cos to shove, we could cooperate with them during their inspection. They won’t find anything anyway."
Tuss remained silent, taken aback by Yuri’s bold tone.
Yuri had drifted off to sleep inside her cha without noticing. When Tuss found her, looking at the sprawled-out state of the cha, he couldn’t help but laugh. Here we are, with level five insectoids still around, and she dares to sleep. Talk about living dangerously!
Resigned, Tuss stood guard nearby.
Their two chas, one red and one green, stood out against the backdrop of the ruins.
The public chatting channel was buzzing with ongoing conversations, shifting from Yuri to the three remaining level five insectoids.
"They’re still alive? Their defense is ridiculously strong."
"The military reports that these level five insectoids are about to deplete all of Planet 165’s level six high-energy quantum cannon. Once the ammunition runs out, we’ll have to resort to hand-to-hand combat."
"Is Planet 165’s weapon reserve that limited?"
"They’ve sent everything to the front line. Who knew insectoids would manage to reach here? Besides, most of Planet 165 has been decimated by cannon fire. Isn’t that enough?"
"We should store more weapons on these border planets."
"Two consecutive insectoid invasions in half a month, no amount of weaponry would be enough."
"Hoolin, Tyrone, can I borrow your chas?"
"What for? I don’t lend my cha, just like I don’t lend my wife," Hoolin stood firm.
"I’m your cousin. Will you lend it?"
"Depends. What’s the reason?"
"You just said it, didn’t you? We’re running out of ammo. We have very few of level six and level five. Your chas are equipped with level five. Hurry up, hand it over."
"Where are you? I’ll bring it to you."
.....
Tuss was quietly listening to the conversation over the public channel. He looked down and checked the power level of the ammunition in his own cha. A shiny "7" was displayed. I have level 7. What about Yuri?
Yuri had slept for over two hours, only to be woken up by Tuss.
"What is it?" A still sleepy Yuri grumbled.
"There are two level five insectoids left. The military’s out of firepower. They need your support," Tuss inford.
Half-awake, Yuri asked, "What do you an they’re out of firepower? Did the insectoids knock them all out?"
Tuss rubbed his forehead, "Literally, they’ve run out of ammo."
"Oh," Yuri nodded. She rubbed her face and got up. "Where are they? I’ll go there now."
"Follow ."
"Tuss and Yuri?" The commander questioned as he read these two nas aloud. "I know Tuss. He’s an SSS-tier alpha. But who’s Yuri?"
"You’re out of the loop, sir. She’s the hottest topic on the interstellarnet right now," a subordinate inford him.
"Officer Lyao specifically instructed to hand over two dinsional buttons to them. Judging by the quality of the buttons, I dare say the chas inside are no ordinary ones," Hawk declared confidently.
Intrigued, the commander asked, "Are they here yet?"
"They’re on their way."
Not all level five insectoids were colossal. That was Yuri’s first thought when she saw the two insectoids in front of her.
"Their small size and high speed make them hard to hit. That’s probably why they’ve survived while the other level five insectoids haven’t," Tuss explained.
"I feel like they’re weaker than the insectoid queen on Planet 132," Yuri yawned.
Hearing this, Tuss really wanted to roll his eyes, but he held back. He gritted his teeth and explained, "That insectoid queen had level six defense and specialized in psychic attacks. It was stronger than 99% of level five insectoids."
"Oh," Yuri responded, "So, how do we fight? Just aim and shoot?"
Right now, all Yuri wanted to do was end the fight quickly so she could find a place to sleep.
Tuss sent her a link, "Click it and join the military’s channel. An officer will give instructions."
Yuri did as instructed, and then a voice ca from within.
"Yuri, Tuss, are you going in yourselves, or will you lend us your chas?" A confident voice asked.
Looking at the chas and warships being chased by the level five insectoids in the distance, Yuri shook her head, not particularly keen on lending them. "Reporting to the officer, I’ll go in myself."
"I’ll go in myself too," Tuss added.
"The firepower of your chas is the only level five strength remaining on Planet 165. If you also run out of ammo..." The commander didn’t finish his sentence, but everyone understood the severity of the situation.
"Using pheromones won’t work. These two insectoids are too fast. By the ti the pheromones reach them, they might have already fled," a sergeant warned, highlighting the importance of the two chas.
Apart from these two chas, they had nothing else to counter the two insectoids.
"I understand. But we still want to go in ourselves," Tuss responded, his tallic voice cold, "What’s the maximum firepower we can use?"
"Level six. But you only have level five, so fire away as long as you aim properly," the commander instructed, emphasizing ’aim’.
The commander was sowhat dissatisfied with Yuri and Tuss’s insistence on not lending their chas. He even labeled them as arrogant, reckless, and unconcerned about the bigger picture. A second-year student and an oga – can they handle it? Are they capable of operating the chas well? Can they outperform the experienced soldiers in the army?
If it weren’t for the fact that Officer Lyao had given them the chas, he would’ve ordered them to be seized by now.
"Also, avoid harming our soldiers," the commander sternly reminded them.
Yuri’s lips twitched. How little faith does he have in us?
