Chapter 27: The Pressure from a High-Level Alpha
The man who walked towards them was bulky and intimidating, with a pair of glaring eyes.
"What do you want to sell?" The man’s voice was rough and obviously impatient.
Yuri wrinkled her nose as she caught the scent of the man’s pheromones. It was a strong sll, like gasoline.
"Control your pheromones," Tuss coldly stated.
"Oh? Can you sll pheromones? Are you an alpha or a beta?" Instead of controlling his pheromones, the man released even more.
As Yuri held her breath, ready to deal with the man, Tuss took action first. A chilly woody scent enveloped the man, instantly changing his complexion.
"You’re an S-tier alpha?" The man’s face turned the color of a pig’s liver. He clenched his fists, gritting his teeth against the pressure from the high-level alpha.
Tuss didn’t answer, instead, he asked, "Can you control your pheromones now?"
Without answering, the man obediently withdrew his pheromones. His gaze on Tuss was filled with wariness. The clerk behind him looked shocked. He had never imagined that the man with crutches was an S-tier alpha.
"Can we now discuss selling sothing?" Yuri broke the tense atmosphere in the shop.
The man looked at Yuri, his gaze gloomy. "What do you want to sell?"
Yuri suddenly didn’t feel like selling anymore. She casually asked Tuss, "Will he lower the price because we offended him?"
Tuss hesitated as well, after three seconds, he suggested, "There are other shops around. Let’s check them out."
As they were about to leave, the man snarled, "You’re playing ."
"I’d advise you to control your temper. Otherwise, if your Sea of Consciousness erupts, not even an S-tier beta could save you," Yuri sincerely advised.
The man’s face stiffened. After a deep breath, he asked, "What tier of alpha are you?"
"What do you think?" Yuri threw the question back at him.
"If you don’t want to say, fine." The man had little patience. He pulled out a chair and sat down. "In the whole black market, everyone knows that, I, Ryo Gen, am fair in business. What do you want to sell? Hurry up."
Yuri looked at Tuss. Seeing him nod, she took out the Blue Keystone.
The mont the extrely pure blue gem appeared, the surrounding bright lights seed to fade into the background.
"Is this a gem?" Ryo couldn’t tear his eyes away.
"So beautiful," the clerk exclaid.
Yuri tossed the Blue Keystone into Ryo’s hands. "Take a closer look."
Ryo nearly dropped it. "It’s so heavy. What kind of gem is this?"
Yuri sighed in exasperation and looked at Tuss. "This manager doesn’t seem to know much, does he?"
Ryo glanced at her, then turned his attention back to the blue crystal in his hand. However, no matter how he looked at it, he couldn’t figure out what it was.
"Use an instrunt to asure it," Tuss suggested.
Ryo was persistent, unwilling to believe there was sothing he couldn’t recognize. He asked, "Are you sure this isn’t a sapphire?"
"No, it’s not," Tuss assured him, adding, "It’s a type of tal that usually appears in granular form."
Ryo frowned, thinking fast. Suddenly, his eyes widened. "Is this a Blue Keystone?"
Before Tuss and Yuri could confirm, Ryo shook his head vigorously. "Impossible, the largest Blue Keystone ever found is the size of a pea. It can’t possibly be this big."
Moreover, nobody had ever owned this much Blue Keystone.
A whole star system might not produce a single one in a year.
Ryo was very sure of this. Yuri sighed and looked at the ceiling. It was true what he said, but there were always exceptions. The Blue Keystone looked so huge rely because Yuri enjoyed gathering tals into large clusters using Enova power.
"Use the instrunt to asure it," Tuss suggested again.
Still not believing the blue object was Blue Keystone, Ryo decided to conduct the test in front of them to put the matter to rest.
Ten minutes later, Ryo held the Blue Keystone close to his chest. "One gram for 110,000 astracredits. This is the highest price in the entire Planet 814 system."
Yuri looked at Tuss. He nodded and said, "Deal."
Fearful that Yuri and Tuss would change their minds, Ryo promptly transferred the funds.
With nearly sixty million astracredits deposited, Yuri couldn’t stop grinning. She whispered in Tuss’s ear, "It seems our two months of hard mining weren’t for nothing."
Tuss twitched at the corner of his mouth. "Yeah, we nearly lost our lives in the process."
The smile faded from Yuri’s face as she rembered the nearly ten thousand people who had died. "Once is enough for such an experience."
As they left the shop, Yuri couldn’t wait to head to the area where they sold chas. Tuss followed behind her, a fond expression hidden under his face mask.
The black market was bustling. Everyone was dressed in strange and exotic outfits. So wore animal costus, others wore protective suits, and others like Yuri and Tuss were cloaked... No matter what they wore, their objective was the sa—to hide their true selves.
In such a crowd, collisions were inevitable. When a curse ca from behind, Yuri didn’t pay it any mind until Tuss said, "It was you bumping into ."
Yuri stopped and turned around to see a man grabbing Tuss by the collar. She imdiately beca angry and without a second thought, she charged and kicked the man.
"Use your words, don’t get physical," Yuri snarled.
The man she had kicked was speechless, thinking the crazy woman perhaps should have said that to herself first.
Yuri’s kick was strong, and it took the man a few seconds to recover and get up. Just as he was about to retaliate, a sharp pain shot through his head and the scent of cold wood filled his nostrils.
Alpha.
Pressure from a high-level alpha.
The man’s eyes were filled with terror. He didn’t waste any ti, turned around, and ran. Within seconds, he was lost in the crowd.
"I was too hasty, it’s my fault," Yuri self-criticized.
Tuss shook his head. "He did it on purpose."
"He’s a scamr?" Yuri exclaid.
Tuss calmly said, "He probably needed astracredits and thought I was an easy target."
Yuri spat out in disgust. "Blind fool. You’re clearly the overbearing boss type."
Tuss: "?"
The place where they sold chas was easy to locate. Tuss and Yuri spotted the giant sign from a distance.
"Most of these chas have been obtained in shady ways, you should be ntally prepared before purchasing," the salesman candidly inford them.
Yuri was stunned by the guy’s sheer honesty.
"What do you an by ’shady ways’?" Yuri asked, expecting the salesman to avoid the question. To her surprise, he answered quite freely.
"Stolen, found, conned... in other words, they aren’t legally obtained," he explained.
Yuri looked at Tuss, who offered her a reassuring glance before addressing the salesman. "Show us the chas that are controlled by ntal commands."
The salesman’s eyes lit up, knowing this deal was promising.
Most people who ca here lost their enthusiasm for buying a cha when they heard his warning. Over the course of a month, he hadn’t sold many.
He hadn’t expected the couple before him to be so bold and undeterred.
The salesman imdiately beca more enthusiastic. "Please follow , we only have five psychic-controlled chas. But rest assured, each of them is top-quality."
At present, Yuri didn’t understand much about chas. While Tuss studied the performance of each cha, she instructed Enova, becoming familiar with every piece of tal on the chas.
Half an hour passed, and Tuss finished his conversation with the salesman, then approached Yuri. "Did you decide on one?"
Without hesitation, Yuri pointed to a humanoid cha with a patchwork of black and red. "That one."
"Then we’ll take it," Tuss decided.
The salesman had a million thoughts rushing through his head: "The one who was asking about all the cha’s performance and configurations was you, but now you’re letting other people who didn’t participate at all make the final decision? Why so careless after asking so many questions? What a waste of my breath."
