Chapter 176: Yuri Getting Pregnant
From the mont Yuri was confird pregnant, she beca dazed. It was Tuss who took the prenatal handbook from the nurse, carefully jotting down all the instructions from the doctor and fetching the folic acid and other supplents she would need.
In the end, it was also Tuss who helped her out of the hospital.
In the parking lot, Tuss folded up his cha and pulled out their lev.
At this point, Yuri finally snapped back to reality. She placed her hand on her tummy, her clear eyes filled with wonder as she muttered, "There’s a life growing inside of ."
Tuss placed his large hand on her smaller one and said, "The doctor said, for the next three months, you shouldn’t try any transport that moves too fast, especially the cha."
"Only for three months?" She thought she could handle waiting three months. But ten months would have really tested her patience.
"That’s right, only three months." Tuss helped her into the lev, buckling her seat belt, and then asked, "Shall we learn about prenatal care together today?"
Yuri didn’t refuse.
Unable to pilot the cha, Yuri’s patrol duty had to be put on hold. With no patrol, her livestreaming job also had to be paused.
Now, she spent her mornings working a one-hour shift at the station, then she’d head to the cha repair departnt to learn about fixing chas with the old technician.
She’d go back to her dorm for a nap at noon, and when she woke up in the afternoon, she would study the components used in building a cha. She didn’t need a machine to fuse the tal parts and reach the optimal ratio, even achieving better performance than a machine-forged piece.
She couldn’t create so of the high-tech stuff inside the cha, like the cha’s intelligent core. That was not the usual job of a cha manufacturer and had to be bought separately.
Right now, she was focusing on the psychic power sensor. The sensor was only the size of a thumb but made up two-fifths of the total cost of a cha, showing its importance.
"You want to make a psychic power sensor?" Master Vonyee was surprised.
"I want to build my own cha. I have so idea about the rest, but I don’t know where to start with the psychic power sensor." School lessons only covered the principles, not the actual thod of making it. She had no choice but to ask Master Vonyee for help.
"You’re asking the wrong person. Only betas can make the psychic power sensor. The one in my cha, I bought it as is." Master Vonyee honestly said, then thought and added, "I can introduce you to other cha manufacturer masters in my workshop, they’re pretty good at making psychic power sensors. But whether they’re willing to teach you, that’s up to you."
"Thank you." Yuri sincerely thanked him.
Master Vonyee waved his hand, "You’re welco. Your beta tier is high, your psychic power is strong. The psychic power sensor you make would definitely be of high quality. You could sell a few to
then."
Yuri readily agreed, "I’ll give you a few."
"No need. I’ve got plenty of astracredits, I can buy them." Master Vonyee declared generously.
Yuri: "....Okay."
After ending the call, Master Vonyee quickly sent Yuri a contact number. Yuri got the number and imdiately called the person.
The connection was accepted almost instantly.
Yuri saw a woman with preserved grace and commanding presence, her looks left a good impression at first sight.
"Oh, Yuri, I’ve heard much about you," the woman’s voice was clear and cheerful, with a light smile on her face.
Yuri didn’t expect the woman to know her and laughed, "I’m flattered. May I ask how to address you?"
"Just call
Master Kim." Master Kim emphasized the word "Master."
"Master Kim," Yuri echoed, "Can you teach
how to make a psychic power sensor? I can pay tuition."
"I can teach you. If you give
a few of the Phoenix Shell pearls you harvested yesterday, I’ll share everything I know. I don’t need many, just six, and I’ll teach you all I know," Master Kim said, her eyes sparkling.
Yuri’s mouth twitched, "You watched my livestream too?"
"No, but everyone in the Alliance knows about your Phoenix Shell pearls. It’s all over the place, especially among us betas. Who wouldn’t want a piece of jewelry made from Phoenix Shell pearls?" Master Kim’s face was filled with longing. Humans loved all kinds of jewels and precious stones, especially betas.
"Alright, I’ll give you six." Yuri wasn’t stingy at all. Six Phoenix Shell pearls for the thod of making psychic sensors was a huge win for her.
That evening, when Yuri asked Tuss for the Phoenix Shell pearls, Tuss hesitated, "You’re selling them?"
"Not selling, just tuition," Yuri explained Master Kim’s request for six Phoenix Shell pearls as tuition.
In front of Yuri, Tuss picked out the six smallest pearls from the thirty-eight Phoenix Shell pearls. Even the smallest ones were the size of Yuri’s thumb. They were considered large among Phoenix Shell pearls.
Yuri was surprised, "I didn’t realize you liked these."
"Now you know. Don’t give them away so easily." These were for her jewelry.
Yuri nodded enthusiastically, "Alright, alright, they’re all yours."
Tuss still wasn’t satisfied. He thought about the rich marine resource nearby. He could go to the sea and try his luck. In addition to seashells, shellfish also produced pearls. He could try to find so of different colors to make more sets of pearl jewelry for her.
Yuri didn’t know that she would receive a whole box of pearl jewelry in a few months.
After the deal was settled, Yuri’s daily schedule changed. She’d learn about cha repair from the old technician in the morning, have lunch in the cafeteria, take a nap in her dorm for an hour, then spend the afternoon learning how to make psychic power sensors with Master Kim.
Days passed peacefully and productively, and a month quietly went by.
One morning, when she woke up with a sudden feeling of unease in her stomach, Yuri knew that her morning sickness was about to start.
Yuri was retching in the bathroom, giving Tuss quite a scare.
"Maybe we should move it to an artificial womb," Tuss suggested seriously.
In the Alliance, the technology of artificial womb surrogacy is well established and legal. If it were not for the widespread belief that offspring conceived naturally have a higher probability of awakening as alpha or beta and possessing stronger abilities, it’s estimated that more than 80% of won in the Alliance would opt for artificial womb surrogacy.
Yuri, limp on the bed, shot Tuss a glare when she heard his suggestion, "Is this how you act as a father?"
Tuss didn’t feel guilty at all, replying, "It’s making you uncomfortable."
"This is a natural reaction." Yuri responded weakly.
Tuss knew this was a normal reaction, but he didn’t want her to suffer. After a mont’s thought, he suggested, "Shall I get so tal genesis for you to absorb?"
Whenever she absorbed tal genesis in the past, she always appeared to be in ultimate ecstasy, which showed it was extrely comfortable for her.
Yuri nodded noncommittally, not particularly interested but not wanting to discourage him.
Tuss hurried out and returned in less than two hours.
Yuri was still lying on the bed, pale, looking just like when he had left.
"I’ve put the sphalerite ore in the warehouse. Shall I carry you there?" Tuss squatted down in front of her.
Yuri didn’t want to move, but she also didn’t want to let him down, so she climbed onto his back.
In just two hours, Tuss had collected enough sphalerite ore to fill two large warehouses. The speed surprised Yuri, "Did your Enova increase again?"
"No, practice makes perfect," Tuss set her down on a chair and looked at her expectantly, "Try and see if you feel better."
Under Tuss’s gaze, Yuri released her Enova. Her Enova imdiately rushed toward the sphalerite ore in the two large warehouses.
Her pale face gradually regained color and the fatigue between her brows also gradually disappeared.
Tuss breathed a sigh of relief. As long as it helps.
