Chapter 82: Important Mission

Erick gritted his teeth and glared at him angrily, but at the sa ti he realized he couldn’t win. Not only was this man as strong as him, but he also had impressive sword skills.

"That... Did you see that?" One of the students behind him asked in shock.

Everyone turned to look at him... they knew he was a very skilled swordsman, one of the most skilled magic swordsn in the 99th Regint.

"All I saw was that guy defeat the leader too easily. What happened?"

The swordsman clenched his fists slightly. "That man is very good. The Leader is not a weak person, and his sword technique is quite good, but he treated him like a novice. Didn’t you see those movents? They were smooth and effortless... he treated him like a clumsy child."

None of them could see it, but they had to take his word for it, since he was the best swordsman in the group.

But was he really that good? They turned to look at John, who was in shock...

anwhile, Edward pressed his sword against Erick. "If you still understand

and aren’t just an animal without reason, you should tell your friend to do as I ordered. I don’t have much ti to waste."

Erick stared at him angrily, but got up and glanced sideways at John. "Co here."

John frowned. "Leader..."

"I said co here. Can’t you hear ?" Erick growled angrily.

John reluctantly approached him.

"Clean his uniform."

John turned to look at Erick. "Leader... Will you accept this humiliation?" he asked through clenched teeth.

"Did I tell you to go around getting people’s uniforms dirty just because they accidentally bump into you?" Erick asked grumpily. It was hard enough to swallow his pride and say this to him. Why couldn’t this bastard just do what he was told?

John swallowed his words and clenched his fists in anger. He wanted to hit Edward... but right now he didn’t know if he would win.

Beating Erick so easily was sothing few in the 99th Regint could do, and he was not among those few.

His nails dug into his palm until he relaxed and took out a handkerchief. He obediently approached Edward and cleaned his uniform, before turning around and walking away without looking back.

Erick did exactly the sa.

’Those looks... heh, you want revenge? Go ahead. Lately, I want to see how strong I am.’ Edward sneered and left as well.

--

After returning to his room, Edward was finally able to relax for a while on the balcony.

However, the view disappointed him once again.

’Should I rent a room in the city?’ he wondered.

There were beautiful places outside, with lovely gardens and extraordinary views. Almost anything outside would be better than this desolate and boring place.

While they had a nice night view of the city, overall it was many tis worse than what he would have outside. Besides, the city outside is much prettier than this underground city.

The problem was the cost.

It’s hard to live in the lower district; nothing there is pretty. The roads stink and the sidewalks are stained.

The middle district has good places to live and would be an ideal destination. With what he currently earns and what he has left in savings after his few expenses, even buying a house there is possible.

Now, the best area to live in is still the Upper District in every sense. There was plenty of space and many beautiful mansions; the atmosphere was peaceful, although he would be surrounded by rich people who were born into wealth and who would surely be annoying.

’Should I tell Aurora to see what she thinks?’ Edward thought seriously...

Knock, knock, knock.

Suddenly, the sound of the door knocked him out of his thoughts. He got up and went to answer it.

"Instructor rvan?" Edward was in shock. What was this man doing here?

"I’m glad I found you," he said and looked inside. "There’s sothing important, a mission that I don’t think you’ll refuse. May I co in?" he asked.

"Of course, instructor." Edward stepped aside and, as he passed Arnold’s door, leaned in to call him.

Within seconds, both were standing in front of rvan.

He didn’t waste any ti, imdiately getting to the point and placing a scroll on the table. "I received the mission this afternoon and was planning to add it to the weekend missions. But I think you’ll be more interested in it. Especially the student Edward," he said.

Edward grabbed the scroll and read it...

[Undead in Count Hazzard’s Silver Mines.]

’Silver mines...’ Edward frowned. ’Where my father works.’ He squeezed the parchnt lightly and continued reading.

It wasn’t a hostage rescue, but rather a mission to kill the undead from a nearby cetery that had escaped and entered the mines.

Count Hazzard had personally issued a mission and was offering a large amount of Yakins.

The reward was secondary; the situation was the most important thing.

"My father..." He cleared his throat. "Do you have any information about the miners in the area?" he asked.

"What we know is that many are still inside the mines. After all, they don’t usually co out very often unless it’s urgent. Inside, there are places where they can take shelter, and they know how to move underground, so they should be fine. But..." rvan shook his head. "We don’t have any more information. The count has been busy dealing with traitors recently and was only able to sign off on a mission to bring in the Academy’s strongholds as quickly as possible."

Edward nodded. The mission was dangerous; there were several powerful undead, and there was even ntion of several quite powerful Death Knights.

"We just completed a mission... Can we take this one right now?" Edward asked.

"I know your father works there, which is why I ca to see you first," rvan said. "I’ll make an exception if you think you’re up to a second mission. But keep in mind that it will be dangerous."

Edward nodded. "Thank you, Instructor rvan." He was genuinely grateful. "Lander is the one who was injured, but he’s taken high-level potions, so he should have recovered by now."

"Very well." rvan stood up. "If that’s the case, then I’ll leave the mission to you. If you don’t complete it by Thursday, I’ll hand it over to a regint. I wish you luck," he said before leaving the room.

"Arnold, it looks like I’m going to bother you again..." Edward smiled at him.

Arnold had already gotten up from his beanbag chair and was walking toward his room, putting on his combat straps. "It’s good to move around, Edward. The last mission was so easy that I was thinking of going to kill a few beasts in the dungeons. This mission suits

perfectly. It’s been a while since I’ve fought seriously against the undead." He laughed and went into his room.

Seconds later, he ca out fully ard and ready for combat.

Edward laughed, and they both went out to find Lander.

Lander lives in one of the rooms in the building next door. When they arrived, he was just getting up.

"What’s going on?" he asked, surprised to see them both in a state of... ergency?

"We have a new mission," Edward said and walked past him. "How are you doing?"

"I’m fine, Edward. It really wasn’t too bad. A few blows that left

with a couple of fractures, but nothing those high-level potions can’t fix." He allowed them to sit down. "Is there a new mission?" he asked.

"Yes. Instructor rvan just ca to our room to send us this mission... it’s hard to refuse." Edward let him know and explained the reasons.

Lander nodded. "Then we must go."

"Are you sure you’re okay? We have until Thursday next week to solve it, we can wait a little if you need to."

"I could recover better, but will your father be able to hold out that long? I don’t think the miners are strong enough to face undead of that level."

Edward sighed. "I’m sorry for dragging you into this. I hope you’ll help

this ti. After this, I don’t think we need to take on missions so often," he said.

"Don’t apologize, Edward. These are ergencies we can’t control." Lander laughed, while Arnold patted him on the shoulder.

Finally, they headed to where Aurora lived.

Although she had residences in the underground city and the outer city, for now she had returned to stay in the residential area of the academy.

They went there.

"n are not allowed in the won’s dormitories." The woman in charge of the main gate stopped them. "Unless you are looking for a mber of your group or sothing similar, I will have to detain you."

"Aurora Ashford is a mber of our group. We have a mission to discuss," Edward inford her.

"Miss Ashford?" The woman frowned. "I can’t let you in because she lives in the First Tower and Duke Vire’s daughter is staying there at the mont. If you like, I can let Miss Ashford know."

’What is that woman doing here?’ Edward frowned.

Perhaps the only other woman capable of matching Aurora’s fa within the academy at present was Elara Vire, daughter of a prestigious duke. She surpassed Aurora in strength, but that was due to her age, and she was currently the most powerful woman in the academy.

"All right. Please inform her that we are here and that there is an urgent matter to discuss."

The woman was surprisingly more respectful than Edward would have expected; generally, none of these people were respectful, at least not to him.
