Chapter 125: A ssage from his Father (2)

As his father walked out of the cave in the video, Edward couldn’t take his eyes off it. It wasn’t until then that he noticed how unusual it was.

It wasn’t just any cave. Its rocks were black, speckled with a faint bluish tint, as if they were stars in the sky. The mud and soil were also tinged with the sa color. They seed to reflect what was on the cave’s ceiling and walls.

His father was covered in ordinary mud, which ant he had run quite a distance to get here. But it was his forehead that had given him the clue to notice that peculiarity and ask himself: Where is that?

The rocks were large and looked as if they had been carved by a craftsman. He looked at the tools buried in the ground and frowned.

’Could it be that this is a cave made by my father?’ he wondered.

He felt a strange sense of familiarity with it.

He turned his gaze toward his father and saw him erge from the cave. Outside, everything looked much the sa. The entire mountain was covered in black rocks, veined with bluish hues like sapphire grains. Even the grains of sand were the sa.

The only thing different here were the trees. They were ordinary, though their trunks were ridiculously thick. They seed to be thousands of years old.

’What causes the anomaly in the ground?’ he wondered.

"My son..." His father suddenly spoke, catching his attention. "I was once called the toolmaker. My future was glorious. One of the most important n in the kingdom. But my surna was a curse I would never be able to erase."

"Although, in truth, I don’t want to erase it. I am not a pure Lux, nor was I even born a Lux. But this surna is proof that soone once took pity on

and gave

a morable life and a perfect wife."

"Even if I were to die right now because of this new na, I wouldn’t regret it in the slightest, because I was able to live the life I always longed for as a child."

"Thanks to this na, I beca a legend... But that legend is gone now. It was buried with your mother... There lie the mories of one legend alongside another."

"But it is precisely because I lived through this that I don’t want you to go through it. Although I understand it will be inevitable, I at least want to spare you a lot of trouble with the little I can say."

"I once had friends; one behaved extraordinarily and didn’t abandon

until the end, while the others stabbed

in the back." Finally, he glanced back at the magical tool floating behind him, recording his words.

"The one who abandoned

was my great friend Línnava. Our land. Don’t trust them. Not until soone appears who is willing to fight against the corruption that plagues these lands."

"Línnava is now a nest of filthy rats whose sole mission is to follow the commands of strange beings who watch us from absolute darkness."

"Línnava. Varhat. The Republic. The Theocracy. The Kingdom of the Races. The Great Forests... Johyel and Jared... My son, I don’t know how far you can rise as a pure Lux, but don’t forget that behind all those nas lies our downfall. And if you ever gaze into absolute darkness, do not fear it. Look them straight in the eye—they fear your gaze."

"My son, I have so much to say. But I can’t say it." He shook his head in frustration. "I just hope that soday you’ll grow enough to learn these things on your own. I just want you to rember one thing. You’re not an ordinary person. Rember this well: you are Lux." His gaze was fixed on the tool.

Suddenly, Edward felt as though he were being watched across the ages. That gaze from the past was scrutinizing him through a magical tool... It felt strange.

Abraham chuckled softly after saying that and turned to look at the baby in his arms. "Though not even I know what it ans to be a Lux," he whispered, and his very energy brought the transmission to a close.

Edward’s room returned to darkness as the magical tool turned off. The video had ended.

Edward stared into space with a puzzled look on his face. There was so much information swirling in his mind that, for a brief mont, he felt overwheld.

"What is Lux?" He couldn’t help but wonder.

His father, his mother, his blood, his na... His history.

"Am I... really a Lux?"

He swallowed hard. He’d already suspected it because of his four caterpillars, but he’d thought they had nothing to do with Lux, but rather with that strange system he’d obtained.

Now, what if that strange system was actually proof that he was a Lux? Maybe the system had always belonged to his bloodline?

’Did my father have it?’ he wondered. But he shook his head. ’He says he’s not a pure-blooded Lux. Maybe that’s why?’

As he thought about it, he rembered the mont when he had to take that step forward during his last attempt to awaken.

At that mont, he prayed to the heavens that the Law of Causality would not be broken in a fantasy world.

If he had co to this world, it had to be for a reason. He couldn’t have co just for the sake of it.

That wasn’t physically possible.

’It only took a year and a few months to understand. I really didn’t co here by chance.’ Edward pressed his lips together and stood up.

He walked over to the window. He didn’t open it; he simply peered through a crack at the city before him.

"If I am a Lux, what do I have to fear? Perhaps my strength isn’t that great right now, but in the future, I will rise above all of you."

"That being the case, I can be a little more reckless to help her."

"Even more..." He clenched his hands. "I don’t know the full story behind this, but I trust my father and the clarity in his gaze as he carried his dead wife and their newborn baby. I’m no expert at reading people’s expressions, but I can tell when soone is telling the truth."

"My parents on Earth... they looked at

with the sa clarity, even though they knew I would die sooner or later from my illness."

"My father... I will avenge him. Línnava..."

Edward turned away. Only one question lingered in his mind: What did he an by absolute darkness?

Just a little curiosity...
