Elliot's eyes snap open, his pupil's dilating as the question continued to float inside his head.
"What does my mother had to do with The Manual?" Elliot asked himself. "W-Why haven't I thought of this before?"
There was a knock on his door that made him confused. He wasn't expecting anyone and his friends would just barge inside if they ever need sothing from him.
He crept in his room and took his sword with him, slowly walking up the door with his sword brandished from its scabbard.
"Who's there?" Elliot called out. "I have a sword."
"It's just ," Frederick's voice ca from outside. This made Elliot sigh and open it.
"What's up"
"Sleep." A small purple magic circle appeared on Elliot's face. The magic circle blasted a magical shock in him, rendering him unconscious.
The red haired guild master caught of his body before it fell on the ground, carrying it inside with Sittie trailing behind him. He raised his right hand and waved his pinky finger thrice, creating small orbs that floated in the air just outside Elliot's door.
"I'll leave these wards. And how temporary can your spells be?" Frederick snickered. "And you just had to tell now?"
"My spells are not temporary if you must know," Sittie scoffed. "He sohow rejected my spell and now it's been lifted. Good thing I'm in a village nearby when I noticed."
"It was like this when we first erased his mory, huh?" Frederick said. "He was sleeping, thinking he'll have a good night's rest."
"I'll have to make sure my spell sticks this ti. If he starts to rember and investigate again, it's going to be hard for us," Sittie said. "I'll start."
Sittie placed both her hands on Elliot's temples. She let them glow with a bright yellow color and she closed her eyes. Taking a deep breathe, the woman casted her skill.
"mory Alter."
She was altering Elliot's mory, making him forget about his mother's involvent in The Manual. She first did this not long ago. It was the night after Elliot found the stash his mother hid for him.
And it was also like this scene. Frederick was watching over her as she tweaked the boy's mories.
"I made sure he use the Dragon Immunity Crest this ti, so we don't have to deal with that protective thing," Frederick said. "After that, let's go. His friends may co soon. Because they might tell him sothing."
"What will they tell him?" Sittie turned to Frederick. "Is it about the Championship?"
"Yeah," Frederick sighed. "Too bad they changed the rules this ti. We can't do anything about it."
"Tell about it," the woman groaned. "Them picking the participants instead of the guild itself is ridiculous. I don't think they'll choose the better ones."
"It's unfair," Frederick said. "But at the sa ti fair"
"Done," Sittie announced and clapped her hands once. "I just finished it quickly because I don't want to listen to one of your old man talks. Had enough of those talks."
"Shut up," Frederick snickered and was the first one to walk out Elliot's door. He had the small fla guard outside to keep watch, making sure no one was going to pass by when they go out. "It's clear. Co on."
"Okay," Sittie said and went with the man, lurking in the darkness with their presence vanishing into thin air.
anwhile, the morning ca and Elliot had a terrible headache. He had already forgotten about the night before, even his thoughts just a re monts before Frederick knocked on his door was gone.
"What the hell was I doing again?" Elliot asked himself and sat up. He then saw his friends in his bed, all frowning. "Oh, my heavens. Did sobody died?"
"The rules for the Championship was changed last minute," Connor said. "It's ridiculous, really."
"Why?" Elliot asked. "W-What changed?"
"They decided that they would decide the roster for the Championship," Ed said. "In our team, Lance and Sun are out. They're being replaced by Aquarius and Minos."
"What?" Elliot gasped. "Was that the only change?"
"Yeah," Ed replied. "But now, our two powerhouse are gone. Can we even do it? Not like I doubt Aki and Minos, but Lance and Sun are incredibly powerful."
Elliot placed his hand on Ed's shoulder. "Yeah, I think we still can. I just need to Pull today. I will go back to my house and I don't want anyone else inside my house for the whole three days. Can you make sure of that?"
"Of course," Ed said. "We will make sure of that."
"Okay, thank you," Elliot smiled. "We can do this. We just need to strengthen ourselves and plan our approach. This is our new battle now. And we're not going down without a fight. Especially when lives are on the line."
Elliot prepared his materials. He was about to go back to his house to do the Pulling. The last Pull he realized that the corpse, even when fresh, would still sll bad. He needed the space in his house too, so that he wouldn't be moving in a tight space just like last ti.
"I'm ready," Elliot said. "I'll now go."
"Good luck," Lance said and waved at him. Elliot requested to go alone and even when they were hesitant at first, they had no other choice but to let him.
He was walking back ho, focusing his attention on the road. He couldn't let so other thing distract him this ti. The day of the Championship is not getting any further. In fact, it felt like it was sprinting towards them in full speed.
When he felt like everything is going to distract him, Elliot groaned and leaped to the roof. He then ran all the way to his house which only took about five minutes.
"I'm ho," Elliot jokingly said as he got inside. "Feels great to be back."
He opened the door and got inside, only to see the dusty house filled with spider webs and worn out wooden panels.
"What the hell happened here?" Elliot gasped. "Has it been that long?"
Elliot took out a cloth in his Inventory that his instincts told him to get. He wiped the places he was about to work on with the cloth and washed it with water in a river nearby.
"Ti to get to work," Elliot said to himself and placed a large sheet of tal on the floor. He pleaded Francoise to make him one before. It was when the first ti he Pulled, but the man only told him Isabelle had one, so he went to her shop and bought hers.
He placed his potions on the side with a table that he sohow managed to salvage in his old ho.
Putting on his gloves on, Elliot started to get the Purple Palace Guard out first. He placed the body on the sheet and let the potion flow through it.
"Ti to start the Pull."
