"You guys keep tinkering, and I'll take the other principals for a walk," Zhang nglong reminded, "Be careful when you start working. Safety first. Don't blow up the teaching building. It's okay to rebuild if the building is destroyed, but it's not good if people get hurt."
"Got it, take care!" The male student refocused his attention, but after glancing at the machinery, his expression turned sour again, "What's going on? Why is it installed wrong again? You expect to be the pioneer of engine technology with those skills? Your level isn't even on par with my freshman junior!"
...
The mont they left the teaching building, several principals simultaneously wiped their foreheads; the oppressive aura of the academy's students was truly overwhelming.
"What place is this?" Suddenly, they noticed a patch of land beside the grand chanical Academy building, surprisingly set up with simple tents.
"Academician Zhang, why does your school have such a place? This really tarnishes the image of the school."
"Indeed, we should conduct our school affairs properly, we can't just be all show and no substance!"
After looking around, the principals finally found so faults within Jiangnan University of Science and Technology and were able to regain so sense of superiority.
"Oh, this is our International College of Education," Zhang nglong pointed at the A4 papers stuck on the awning, "We have no choice, the land in our school is really tight. A bunch of international students want to study here, and many foreign teachers want to join our faculty. We temporarily have nowhere to arrange their accommodation, so this is the situation."
Only then did they notice that this area, resembling a refugee camp, was in fact occupied by foreigners.
"Academician Zhang, this is where you're wrong. You should consider the international impact," one principal said, "Even if temporary dorms aren't available for them, why not arrange a hotel for them?"
"They don't have any objections?"
"Right, Academician Zhang, you are the world's richest man. You shouldn't be short on this bit of money, should you?"
"I can't be blad for this!" Zhang nglong spread his hands. "We did arrange star-rated hotels for them to stay in, but they refused. They insist on living on campus, and now even this temporary camp can barely fit them."
As Zhang nglong was explaining, a commotion arose from the "refugee area," as if two foreigners had inexplicably started arguing.
"I offer 2 million US Dollars for that spot, give it to !"
"Get back to your own country! Knowledge is priceless. Even if you offered 20 million US Dollars, I wouldn't budge. You can't buy this with money!"
...
"What's happening?" Zhang nglong and others walked over.
"Academician Zhang, you... ah," the person in charge at Jiangnan University of Science and Technology's International College of Education looked distressed, "Mr. Zhang, these are Professor Oleg from Harvard and Professor Nottingham from Cambridge. They are now fighting over a bunk bed."
"You see, both professors are heavyweights in academia, and I dare not offend them."
"What's this about not offending anyone," Zhang nglong walked over, "What's the matter with you two?"
"Mr. Zhang, I got this bed first, and this jerk insists on buying it with money. I refused, and he even tried to get physical!"
"He tried to get physical?" Zhang nglong stared at the professor referred to as Nottingham, then turn to the person in charge of the International College of Education and asked, "What's he here for?"
"Academician Zhang, Professor Nottingham applied for a six-month exchange program."
"Reject it, and tell him to scram!" Zhang nglong said bluntly, "The professors who want to exchange with Jiangnan University of Science and Technology could go around Earth twice. Who do you think you are? If you want to study, you have to follow our rules!"
Professor Nottingham seed to understand Zhang nglong's words and imdiately panicked, "Mr. Zhang, don't send
away! Give
a chance!"
"Then you will have to follow our rules here and move to the guest hotel!"
"Yes! I'll go!" Professor Nottingham reluctantly glanced at the damp and even leaky broken bed.
"What's going on?" Everyone on the scene was baffled. For a lousy bed, these academic giants were willing to make such generous offers? Moreover, they preferred to stay in this rundown place instead of moving to a fancy hotel?
He must have caught the novel coronavirus of the ninges, right?
"Professor, have we t sowhere before?" the principal of Jiangnan Economic College caught Nottingham professor, "I rember now, you ca to our school last year to give a lecture! Professor Nottingham from Cambridge!"
"You're the principal of Jiangnan Economic College?" Professor Nottingham evidently recognized him too.
"Professor Nottingham, why do you insist on dwelling in such a place instead of staying in the guest hotel? I don't get it." Are these places that even beggars would scorn really that alluring?
"You don't understand!" Professor Nottingham sighed, "This is an excellent spot. Each and every one at Jiangnan University of Science and Technology is talented. You could learn a lot from any student here. Even if you attend the world's top academic conferences, you wouldn't learn as much as you would from chatting with a student here for ten minutes!"
The more Professor Nottingham spoke, the more excited he beca, "Moreover, within the school, you can visit the various academies at any ti to watch the students conduct their experints. Can you imagine how marvelous that is? Staying in a hotel, we wouldn't have access to any of this!"
"Academician Zhang, Academician Han," the person in charge pointed at a corner under an awning, "you think of sothing. These people simply don't want to stay in that hotel. They'd rather sleep rough right here instead of staying at a hotel."
In that corner, dozens of people were scattered about, lying in all directions. They were all unkempt, so busy calculating in their notebooks, so tapping away on their computers, but their faces were lit with an unbounded excitent, looking every bit like academic perverts.
Who would have thought that these people, who resembled beggars, were all world-renowned top scholars?
"How many applicants do we have now?" Zhang nglong asked.
"We have collected over 7,000 applications for academic exchange so far, the majority of which co from the world's top universities and research institutions. Those without significant academic accomplishnts are too embarrassed to even apply."
"And the students?"
"7.23 million!"
"7.23 million?" The number left everyone dumbfounded.
What did that even an? Last year, the total number of Huaxia graduates was just eight or nine million, and here we had 7.23 million applications in a single year?
If soone got admitted to Jiangnan University of Science and Technology, that would an they were truly one in a million!
This school was just too terrifying!
...
"This is our college of physical education."
"Look at that basketball player. Why is his jumping ability so frightening?"
"A jump shot from mid-court?"
"What did he just say? A 'Regretful Dragon Whirlwind Dunk'?"
"How co their students are even physically skilled?"
...
"This is our economics academy."
"Hahaha, their graduation requirent is that each student has to make a billion dollars from stock trading, or they won't get any credits!"
...
"This is the linguistics academy. Their basic graduation requirent is to master all the languages of the world, with animal languages being an extra-credit option!"
...
"Academician Zhang, which academy's students are these?"
"Oh, these are from the law school."
"Phew! Finally, an academy of normal people!"
"Yes!"
"Law school, eh? At most, they're just a bit better at law studies. After all, there are many undefeated lawyers in the world."
"Gentlen, our law school isn't just any ordinary law school," Zhang nglong said with a smile.
"Hey, student!" Zhang nglong called out to a student who had just walked out of the academy building, "Do us a favor and conjure up a fireball for the presidents from our brother schools to see!"
