A calm and indifferent voice ca from behind Sheng Lian. The man spoke the words with such clarity that it seed like he was announcing the death penalty.
The instance when Sheng Lian was stunned, the gun in his hand was confiscated by another policeman, leaving him weaponless and completely helpless.
In the next second, his hands were bound by a pair of cold handcuffs. He moved his head slowly, staring blankly at the handcuffs on his hands— he knew instinctively that there was no room for a change of outco.
Under extre tension, a layer of cold sweat flowed uncontrollably from his forehead and Sheng Lian’s vision blurred.
Amidst his blurred state, he saw Gu Ren get out of the car, revealing the figure behind him.
It was the person he was looking for— Ye Zhi.
How did things turn out to be like this? My plan was very strictly classified; who was the one who betrayed ?
At this ti, Gu Ren and Ye Zhi were already walking towards him when he figured out the crux of the problem.
They passed by Sheng Lian directly and walked behind him.
Qi Cheng gave Sheng Lian a light push, “Let’s go.”
Sheng Lian turned around, and in the middle of a group of police officers, he saw a familiar face as Liu Cang stood there conspicuously. It turned out that the police had long known about his plan because the traitor was Liu Cang.
Sheng Lian’s blood rushed to his head and he started to lose his sense of rationality. He stord towards Liu Cang.
“Liu Cang, you are not human; you actually pulled into the water(1) with you!”
(T/N: When soone is drowning, they would tend to pull onto another with them. Based on that logic, this ans to drag soone into a bad situation with you— can be used regardless of the other person being a culprit or an innocent bystander)
Sheng Lian struggled so hard that he almost broke free from the police behind him. Before he could question Liu Cang, he was imdiately subdued by Qi Cheng and was unable to move.
Gu Ren saw Sheng Lian’s insanity and his feet subconsciously moved a few inches forward, blocking Ye Zhi’s front. He frowned with traces of worry hidden in his eyes. Ye Zhi smiled silently and took a step towards Gu Ren as she quietly leaned against his side, holding his hand.
Gu Ren noticed the soft sensation on his palm. He imdiately clenched Ye Zhi’s hand, making his once tense body gradually relax.
Sheng Lian’s eyes reddened anxiously, “Liu Cang, do you know how many things you have done as well? Your leash is in my hands and you dare treat like this?”
What Sheng Lian didn’t know was that all of Liu Cang’s criminal evidence had long been collected by Gu Ren and every move Sheng Lian made after that was just him getting closer and closer to being trapped.
At that ti, Sheng Lian was imrsed in the joy of his impending success, so he didn’t notice Liu Cang’s oddities at all.
Ye Zhi looked at Sheng Lian’s appearance and knew that he had no trace of repentance. She scoffed and shook her head.
“Sheng Lian, even at this ti, you’re still trying to avoid the responsibility? Were all your evil deeds just nothing to you? “
Hearing Ye Zhi’s voice, Sheng Lian turned to look at her. This was the first ti he had contacted Ye Zhi so closely.
Ye Zhi’s appearance was calm and cold, but when she looked at Sheng Lian, there was an obvious emotion of disgust in her eyes.
Sheng Lian began to recall Sheng Luo’s childhood days. In a trance, Ye Zhi’s face seed to overlap with Sheng Luo’s as he rembered the fear in her eyes when she last saw him as Sheng Luo.
This ti however, the tides have turned. He was the one on the weaker side, allowing others to make his future decisions.
He already felt a strong sense of familiarity the other day at the elevator. He didn’t know it at that ti, but if he had thought of Ye Zhi’s identity, he could have prepared in advance.
At this mont, Sheng Lian did not regret any of his actions; instead, he regretted that he was always passive when it ca to handling matters.
