Chapter 947: Chapter 947: Complete Despair

Shen Mo’s place was just a stopover; to drink hot tea and eat, they still needed to enter the dollhouse.

Yan Qingwen and Zhu Shu had last entered the dollhouse while battling monsters from the three seasons of spring, sumr, and autumn. Now they were bonafide guests, invited into the living room, sitting in front of the warm fireplace, drinking black tea, and enjoying snacks.

Zhu Shu exclaid, “It’s changed so much here.”

With the sinister dolls gone, flowers were planted in the front yard and vegetables in the back, giving the place a cozy and hoy feel.

A chicken waddled past the window, fluttering its neck, which made Zhu Shu laugh. She asked, “Weiwei, how did you manage this? It’s like a farmhouse; I think I even saw fish in the pond?”

While speaking, Bai Youwei eyed the chicken, estimating its weight, “…It’s all thanks to Teacher Cheng. For those vegetables and chickens, he even had us bring back a bunch of books on agriculture and farming, which we read every day. He’s very ticulous.”

Zhu Shu smiled and nodded, “Teacher Cheng is always thorough in his work.”

The back door opened, and Pan Xiaoxin ran back in, panting, his round face covered with sweat. He greeted everyone, “Hello, Brother Yan, Sister Zhu, I’m going to shower and change.”

Zhu Shu teased him, “Xiaoxin, you’re so hardworking, running like this every day. Aren’t you tired?”

“Not at all!” Pan Xiaoxin replied crisply, although his clothes were soaked with sweat, he appeared relaxed, “Mo said as long as I keep running ten laps a day, my physical ability won’t be inferior to an adult’s. We’re short on people; I might have to play in the next ga!”

His face showed the unique excitent of a young child, with no trace of fear.

Teacher Cheng, busy in the kitchen, also leaned out halfway, holding a spatula, “As the saying goes, unity moves mountains. A single thread doesn’t make a line, a single tree doesn’t make a forest. If each of us participates, we will surely win!”

“Is Teacher Cheng also participating?” Yan Qingwen asked slightly surprised in the living room.

Shen Mo calmly nodded, “Teacher Cheng wishes to fight; although he is a bit old, with the upgrades from the labyrinth, I believe his physical fitness won’t be too disadvantaged. If he encounters knowledge points from his field of expertise, he might even have an advantage.”

Yan Qingwen fell silent, picking up his teacup and slowly sipping.

Although Shen Mo said this, he understood that if it weren’t for the shortage of people, neither Shen Mo nor Bai Youwei would let an elderly man and a child take such risks.

Yan Qingwen deliberated for a while before finally voicing his concerns, “Why do you think Song Mingchuan decided to organize a mass migration north after giving up the King position? With his physical condition… he might die on the way.”

Bai Youwei glanced at Shen Mo and said flatly, “What else could it be? He probably thinks we can’t win. Rather than continuing to invest, it’s better to give up early, to conserve the remaining resources and manpower.”

“Li Li got so docunts in the lab,” Yan Qingwen said, “That giant rhombus floating in the sky, with each battle pass, its radiation levels increase, and the current numbers have far exceeded the human body’s limits. If it weren’t for the puzzle protecting our territory, we might have disappeared already.”

Bai Youwei furrowed her brows slightly and asked him, “What are you trying to say?”

Yan Qingwen looked at her and then at Shen Mo, speaking gravely, “The battles are so tough, Song Mingchuan has always supported you guys, holding his breath even with poor health because he wanted revenge for his son. His sudden change of attitude must be because he discovered sothing new, which led him to complete despair.”

“You an… in the final battle, we will die?” Shen Mo asked.

“I can only speculate that there might not be a winner in the final battle,” Yan Qingwen paused before continuing, “To be precise… There has never been a King who has won a final battle, neither in the past nor now.”

Silence fell in the living room, the chicken outside clucked, the kitchen echoed with chopping sounds, and from upstairs, the sound of running water…

Zhu Shu looked at everyone, hesitatingly asked, “How many Kings are left?”
