Capítulo 1331: Chapter 1331: Extra Story of Du Fu 57

As soon as the coconut was opened, the raw fishy sll of the bird at instantly wafted out. Du Lai reached out to touch it—warm on the outside but icy cold and sticky on the inside. When he lifted the bird’s neck, coconut juice mixed with blood flowed out, cold and fishy.

Du Lai just held the bird and quietly watched Fu Miaoxue.

Fu Miaoxue: “…”

After a couple of seconds, she stubbornly lifted her head, chest out, “It’ll definitely taste good once cooked!”

Du Lai didn’t want to pay attention to her, so he took the bird away—cleaned it again, rubbed it with salt, skewered it with a branch, and roasted it.

During dinner, Fu Miaoxue was unhappy the whole ti, her lips pouting high, but she still finished off all the bird at, gnawing even the at on the bird’s neck clean.

Du Lai only ate a few berries because earlier, the sll nauseated him, and his stomach was still unsettled.

After finishing dinner, Du Lai lazily sat by the fire, slowly rubbing the leather collar in his hands.

The leather was soft, and the wire inside was used for shaping. To remove the wire, you had to scorch it with fire first, then rub it.

At this ti of day, Fu Miaoxue would usually be playing with mud. Ever since Du Lai taught her how to fire pottery in the wild, she had made quite a few odd pots; of course, most of them failed. Uneven heating or unsuitable clay texture often caused them to crumble during firing.

Occasionally, one or two were successful, enough for her to boast for a week or so.

Today, she had done nothing, leaning against Du Lai, quietly watching as the stars appeared one by one in the sky.

She wasn’t being noisy for once.

Du Lai found it refreshing, guessing she might be reflecting on her wastefulness with the food today.

After watching the stars for a while, Fu Miaoxue nudged Du Lai and asked, “Why are you always burning that?”

Once the leather ring was heated, a light rub would push out the fine wire inside. Du Lai pulled out the wire, briefly replying, “It’s useful.”

Fu Miaoxue didn’t press further, perhaps too relaxed to think deeply, as she continued leaning against his shoulder, murmuring, “The weather’s great today, I wonder how it will be tomorrow…”

Du Lai responded absentmindedly, “Rainy season, pretty much the sa every day.”

Fu Miaoxue closed her eyes, softly saying, “That’s a bit boring… There’s no winter, can’t see the snow.”

Du Lai paused his actions, glancing down at her, “If there really was winter, with us living in this bamboo hut, we’d freeze to death.”

Fu Miaoxue didn’t open her eyes, seemingly envisioning the scene, she smiled, “Hail would be nice too.”

Du Lai: “…”

The more they talked, the more absurd it beca.

Fu Miaoxue added, “Du Lai, I really like you, do you like ?”

Du Lai: “Hehe…”

She opened her eyes, looking at him seriously, “What’s with the ‘hehe’? I’m asking if you like or not?”

Du Lai nodded dismissively, “Like, like.”

Fu Miaoxue was satisfied, closing her eyes again as she leaned on him, her voice lazy and soft, “It’s gonna be fun for us to be together every day.”

Du Lai thought that her liking was no different from liking a dog, and her idea of fun was probably akin to finding a dog amusing.

He wasn’t naive enough to mistake the fondness developed from being stranded on a deserted island for true love, especially when it ca to Fu Miaoxue; that would be even more ridiculous.

After rambling on for a while, Fu Miaoxue eventually lay down on the bed made of leaves and fell asleep.

Du Lai extracted a complete piece of wire, then sharpened the tip further on a stone before holding one hand against the golden collar on his neck, with the other hand he pinched the wire and fumbled around for the intricate lock.

Without a mirror, he couldn’t see the state of the collar, making the task quite challenging, but fortunately, his skill hadn’t diminished. A few minutes later, there was a faint click, and the lock opened—

Du Lai removed the gold collar, imdiately feeling a relief around his neck.

At that mont, he noticed a small chip-like thing on the inside of the collar.
