"Water? Where is it?" Fu Miaoxue perked up imdiately, looking around. "Where is the water? I don’t see any water!"

In front of them, besides a row of dense bamboo forest, there were only so unknown shrub plants, overgrown with weeds, damp and dense, even the mosquitoes seed to be suffocating in this humid and hot environnt.

Du Lai put her down, walked straight to the bamboo forest ahead, took out the flat stone he had used earlier, aid the sharp edge at the bamboo, and started chopping with force.

"What are you doing? Why are you chopping bamboo?" The young lady ca up, complaining continuously, "Aren’t we looking for a water source? If I don’t drink water soon, I’ll die of thirst. Look at , I’m so thirsty I can’t even sweat anymore. I’m about to get heatstroke, don’t you know? You’re still chopping bamboo. Are we going to continue on or not—"

The bamboo was hard, Du Lai chopped at it several tis with the stone, only making a shallow narrow mark.

His strength was draining, and any hope for supplies seed bleak. Du Lai was very irritated, and with Fu Miaoxue’s incessant nagging, he just wanted her to shut up. He couldn’t help but snap, "Enough!"

The young lady: "..."

Du Lai: "..."

Okay, he lost his temper montarily.

The voice wasn’t that loud, but compared to his previous flattering deanor, his current attitude was obviously rebellious.

Fu Miaoxue’s face instantly turned cold, she stared fixedly at Du Lai, asking, "That hundred million, you don’t want it anymore, do you?"

"..." Du Lai kept his composure, "...I want it."

The money was whatever, but he was genuinely afraid of Fu Lisheng.

Fu Miaoxue said, "If you offend , even if you survive in this place, my grandfather will co for you later, and make sure you die miserably, do you believe it?"

Du Lai took a deep breath, nodded, "...I believe."

The young lady snorted coldly, her gaze chilly, as if pondering how to punish his insolence.

Du Lai closed his eyes, adjusted his tone, and explained, "The inside of bamboo is hollow, and it stores so water, which is very clean and can be collected for drinking; that’s why I’m chopping bamboo."

Fu Miaoxue was slightly taken aback, her gaze moved to the bamboo, and she asked in surprise, "Really? You’re not lying to , right?"

"Really," Du Lai said, "But we don’t have the tools at hand, and relying solely on this stone, it’s hard to crack open the bamboo."

"Why didn’t you say so earlier!" Fu Miaoxue rolled her eyes at him, bent down and untied her shoelaces.

Du Lai looked at her in confusion, only to see her take off her leather shoes, turn the sole over, and run her fingers along the edge, revealing a folding blade slowly drawn out from the sole—

Unfolded, it beca a short dagger!

"Here, take it," Fu Miaoxue handed the dagger to him, "Hurry and open up the bamboo, I’m dying of thirst."

Du Lai: "..."

Inexplicably, he looked at Fu Miaoxue’s other shoe.

Fu Miaoxue: "..."

The young lady furrowed her brows in annoyance, muttering angrily, "Fine, I’ll give you everything alright!"

She took off the other shoe, but inside this sole, instead of a dagger, was a very thin steel wire chain.

"This is very aweso!" The young lady boasted, "My grandfather said if I got kidnapped, I could use this to saw through iron chains, and it could even be used to strangle people!"

Du Lai silently took the chain, thinking: Even wealthy kids have their own challenges.

The steel wire chain, both hard and flexible, could serve as a wire saw. Du Lai placed the steel wire chain on one side of the bamboo, gripping both ends tightly, and sawed back and forth with it, opening a gash in the bamboo.

Fu Miaoxue watched eagerly from the side, until streams of water started flowing out, she bead with joy, almost jumping up on the spot!

"Water! We’ve got water to drink!!!"
