Chapter 1242: Chapter 1242: Extra Story of the Eel 79

Thinking of Li Li, she couldn’t help but recall how she’d “neglected” Lu Yuwen these past few days because of Li Li’s injury.

Su Man glanced at him surreptitiously from the corner of her eye, coughed lightly, and said, “Actually, when Li Li suddenly showed up today, it gave a scare—I almost thought we’d blow our cover. But, judging by him just now, there’s no bruising on his face and his leg seems fine, so I think we’ve managed to muddle through this ti.”

After pausing briefly, her voice lowered slightly as she added, “From now on… I won’t need to go to that apartnt anymore.”

What she ant was…

You can ask out now.

Ask out, ask out~

Lu Yuwen hesitated for a few seconds before speaking up, “That young man nad Li Li seems to have so hostility toward ? Just now at the hospital, the way he looked at … didn’t feel quite right.”

Su Man’s face flushed red instantly as she rembered Li Li’s unkind remarks about Lu Yuwen—she felt utterly embarrassed!

“He—he, that’s just how he is!” Su Man stamred nervously. “He always acts as though his nose is pointed to the sky, as if no one’s good enough for him. Even after all the years we’ve known each other, that’s how he treats too. Don’t take it personally…”

Lu Yuwen chuckled softly and interrupted her, “It’s fine. Maybe it’s because he’s spent all his ti in a campus environnt and hasn’t had much exposure to the real world. His behavior might co off as innocent, but there’s a certain youthful energy to it—it’s quite refreshing.”

Su Man couldn’t help but agree—that was exactly it, wasn’t it?

Still, his choice of words was too refined. If you an immature, just say immature; but no, he had to call it “innocent.” Su Man ntally chewed over the term and, for so reason, wanted to laugh—it felt oddly appropriate.

She nodded in agreent while driving, “Exactly, I think it’s because he hasn’t interacted with society much, which is why he acts so arrogant.”

Lu Yuwen let out a low laugh, “He’s your childhood friend after all—are you sure it’s okay to talk about him like this?”

“What’s there to be afraid of?” Su Man grinned mischievously, seeming unconcerned. “He’s cursed at more tis than I’ve cursed at him~”

“He curses at you often?” Lu Yuwen teased, “You’re so fierce—why not just beat him up?”

Su Man replied, “When we were kids, I’d lose my temper and hit him sotis. But he’s such a fragile guy—one light tap and he’d swell up for days… I was afraid our parents would find out, so I stopped going physical.”

Lu Yuwen laughed again.

Even though he hadn’t said much, Su Man’s cheeks inexplicably started growing red once more.

She seed to be blushing far too easily these days.

Could it be that her blood circulation was too strong? Or maybe it was the sumr heat? Su Man mused to herself: I should eat a few more popsicles to cool down.

She wanted to chat with him so more, but the hotel had already co into view.

Su Man drove up to the hotel entrance, watching as Lu Yuwen stepped out of the car, feeling slightly reluctant to part ways.

As if sensing her thoughts, Lu Yuwen turned back, smiled, and waved at her, “Hurry on ho, see you tomorrow.”

See you tomorrow.

Those three words seed to carry their own sweetness, as if she could taste sugar. Su Man broke into a radiant smile and drove off, grinning happily.

On her way ho, she thought to herself: Although today was ssy, the final outco turned out okay.

Her mood had plumted into the depths of the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, but now it was steadily ascending Mount Everest—

Su Man thought she’d reach the summit, but she soon realized she was wrong.

Because the next day, she received a notice of suspension pending investigation, causing her mood to plumt into the abyss once again…

Su Man: “…”

She should have expected this outco sooner.

As a traffic officer on duty, neglecting her job to stop DUIs and instead fighting with pedestrians on the street—even though her intentions were good—for a situation like this, where her actions weren’t appreciated, it was hard not to co across as ddleso.

She really regretted it…

But if a similar situation happened again, would she be able to hold herself back?

Su Man thought carefully about this question.

Her answer was: she’d still step in.

But that’s a matter for the future. For now, she needed to deal with the imdiate problem—finishing her letter of introspection.
