“She left.” Li Li said irritably.

Li Li found it embarrassing to explain but felt too suffocated to keep it in, so he unleashed everything to Wu Xinghai.
On the other end of the line, Wu Xinghai fell silent for a long ti.
So long that Li Li thought the call had disconnected. After saying “Hello?” twice, Wu Xinghai finally replied, his voice weighty:
“Bro, you’ve been hit with a lower-dinsional takedown.”

He’d gone to the movies with Su Man plenty of tis. Just not alone—it was always with a group of friends or, when they were younger, with both their families tagging along.
Wu Xinghai: “Let ask you again: Back when you went to the movies with Su Man, did she ever ntion drinks, popcorn, or even the air conditioning?”
“Of course not. She wasn’t this pretentious back then!” Li Li said with distaste. “She used to just say whatever was on her mind—straightforward and no fuss! None of this nonsense!”
“Ahem, so now do you get it?” Wu Xinghai said with a sigh. “This guy probably went above and beyond, giving Su Man a ticulously perfect movie date. Then when it’s your turn to take her out, it’s like… She gets to eat a gourt feast first—and then tries so plain ho-cooked food. You feel ?”
