Before driving off, Su Man took out her phone for a quick look.
There were two ssages from Li Li, both asking when she’d arrive.

Staring at the sowhat sparse chat screen, Su Man thought for a mont before sending a ssage to Lu Yuwen:
“I’m heading to the cinema now…”
She typed those words into the input box and then paused.
Updating him on her whereabouts all of a sudden—especially since she was going to see a movie with another man—was that…appropriate?
It’s just a movie, so why did she feel the need to let him know? What purpose did it serve?
She pressed her lips together and deleted the sentence word by word.
Then she started typing again:
“What are you busy with…”
Before finishing, she felt the tone was a bit stiff, so she erased it and rewrote:
“Are you busy today?”
Biting her lower lip lightly, she deleted it again.
No matter what she wrote, it seed unnatural.
Since they usually only chatted in the mornings and evenings, maybe it was better to wait for him to say “Good night” and then bring it up more naturally…
Thinking this, Su Man finally put her phone down and started the car.

When she arrived at the cinema, the movie was about to begin.
As soon as Li Li saw her, he complained, “Why are you so late? I’ve been waiting forever.”
Su Man asked in confusion, “Didn’t we agree on 3 p.m.?”
“But you could’ve co earlier. I booked tickets online, so we need to exchange them for e-tickets beforehand.” Li Li quickly headed toward the ticket machine, urging Su Man, “Check if you received a verification code—it’s for the VIP coupon, so next ti you can reserve VIP seats for a movie.”
Su Man didn’t really get how all that worked. Frowning, she took out her phone to search but didn’t find the text ssage. Maybe the verification code was flagged as spam and automatically sent to the trash folder.
It was never this complicated when she watched movies with Lu Yuwen.
Patiently, she dug out the code, sent it to Li Li, and followed him toward the theater.
Just as he was about to scan the tickets, Su Man grabbed Li Li and asked, “Are we just going in like this?”
Li Li looked at her with a puzzled expression. “…Do you need to use the restroom? Hurry up if you do. I’ll wait here.”
Su Man pointed to a young couple nearby holding a large cup of soda. “Aren’t we buying drinks?”
“I’m not thirsty.” Li Li shook his head. “If you want one, go buy it yourself. Don’t buy one—I don’t drink those random sugary drinks.”
Su Man: “…”
Li Li: “If you’re getting one, hurry up. The movie’s about to start.”
Su Man pursed her lips, turned around, and went to buy a drink.
She wasn’t particularly thirsty either, but the movie would last two hours—what if she got thirsty halfway through?
She bought a cup of iced tea and suddenly rembered how Lu Yuwen had once told her, “Girls shouldn’t drink cold beverages.” At the ti, he had switched her cold drink for a hot one at the cinema.
Should she switch it now?
While she was hesitating, she heard Li Li rushing her from the ticket checkpoint, “Are you done yet? Why is it taking you so long just to buy a drink?”
Su Man: “…”

She didn’t feel like arguing today.
Carrying the iced tea, Su Man hurried back to the ticket checkpoint and entered the theater with Li Li.
The movie had already started, but it was still just advertisents, so they weren’t really late. They slowly found their seats and sat down, quietly watching the movie.
Once she settled into her seat, Su Man realized it was a romantic film.
With so sci-fi elents, it was about a man and a woman from different parallel worlds falling in love. It was a mix of humor and sorrow. The mont the female lead appeared on screen, Su Man imdiately understood why Li Li picked this movie.
Because it starred his idol, Zhu Shu.
But the problem was—
Zhu Shu might be his idol, but she wasn’t hers. If he was inviting her to a movie, shouldn’t he have chosen one she would like?
