Li Li’s life was like a peaceful lake disrupted by a giant stone, sending ripples that couldn’t settle.
He was seething with anger, wanting to completely ignore Su Man—out of sight, out of mind. But the mont he thought of Lu Yuwen’s arrogance, he couldn’t let it go. It felt like his pride was being trampled underfoot!
And yet, he was utterly powerless!
Su Man was completely srized by that guy! Whatever he said, she wouldn’t listen to anyone else!
In the blink of an eye, it was Saturday.
Li Li knew Su Man and Lu Yuwen had a date planned for Saturday. Feeling restless at ho, he went out to drink with Wu Xinghai.
At a glance, Wu Xinghai could tell sothing was up. After teasingly digging out the backstory, he said:
“Buddy, you’re in a rough spot here. You need to figure out a way to win Su Man back, or how else will you swallow this resentnt?”
“Win her back how?” Li Li sneered and tugged at the corner of his mouth. “What, you want to beg her? No way. If she wants to act stupid, I’m not about to join her in stupidity.”
“Ah, co on! Won need to be coaxed! Saying a few nice words—how is that begging?” Wu Xinghai tried to reason with him. “Besides, we’re n; giving won a bit of leeway isn’t unusual, right? Fighting with her over this is pointless.”
Li Li felt an uncomfortable knot in his chest. He truly had no solutions at this point. Wu Xinghai’s advice started to sway him, and he hesitated, saying, “But no matter what I say now, she won’t listen.”
“Then just say what she likes to hear.” Wu Xinghai suggested.
Li Li’s expression remained conflicted. He took a swig of his drink, staying silent.
Wu Xinghai was a man of action, and right away, he took Li Li’s phone and asked, “What’s the password?”
Li Li frowned and asked, “What are you trying to do?”
“Hurry up and unlock it,” Wu Xinghai urged without explaining.
Li Li unlocked the phone screen with his fingerprint, and Wu Xinghai imdiately dialed Su Man’s number!
“Why are you calling her?!” Li Li snapped, annoyed, and tried to grab his phone back to hang up.
Wu Xinghai chid in, “Isn’t she out on a date today with that guy? Call her and throw her off a bit—make your presence felt!”
Li Li froze.
Wu Xinghai continued, “Think about it. That guy’s probably having a great ti with Su Man on their date, and you call her out of nowhere—he’s bound to get annoyed! Our goal is to make sure he’s not happy—no fun, no satisfaction! Just bring up so random topic with Su Man. It’ll not only smooth things out between you two but also irritate him. Isn’t that worth it?”
It felt as though hanging up would result in a major loss.
Li Li hesitated long enough that the call connected, and Su Man’s voice ca through the phone:
“Hello?”
Li Li: “…”
Wu Xinghai gave him an encouraging look and whispered, “Hurry up, talk to her! Charm her!”
Li Li furrowed his brow, his face showing resistance.
Su Man was outdoors; the sun was glaring on her phone screen, making it hard to see clearly. She heard the ringtone and answered, unaware that the caller was Li Li.
Not hearing a response, she said “Hello” again, muttering, “Why isn’t there any sound…”
Wu Xinghai grew anxious for Li Li: “Say sothing quickly, or she’ll hang up.”
Li Li held the phone, forced himself, and spoke to the other end: “…Uh, um, it’s .”
Su Man: “…”
A brief silence.
Li Li deliberated and said, “Last night… I was just too worried about you, so… my attitude might’ve been a bit off.”
Wu Xinghai nodded approvingly as he listened: “Yes, exactly, let her know you care about her.”
Li Li frowned and asked, “Where are you? Why is it so noisy? …What? Disney?!”
His voice suddenly shot up as if he’d heard sothing utterly ridiculous, and he let out an incredulous laugh fuelled by anger!
