Chapter 1210: Chapter 1210: Extra Story of the Eel 47
The call quickly connected, and Wu Xinghai enthusiastically greeted the person on the other end:
“Hey! Su Man, it’s , Wu Xinghai! … I’ve got sothing for you. It’s been years since our childhood gang last got together. Are you free this Saturday? … Yeah, I’m planning to invite everyone, so we can all have dinner together… Oh, is that so? Alright then… let’s reschedule for another day.”
Wu Xinghai sighed and hung up the phone.
Li Li stared at him. “What did she say?”
Wu Xinghai replied in disappointnt, “Su Man said she’s already got plans for Saturday.”
Li Li was stunned for a mont, then a look of utter disdain appeared on his face. He snorted coldly and said, “It’s definitely that guy again. Lately, she’s been going out to dinner with him practically every day, and every ti she cos ho, it’s late at night.”
“Chasing that hard, huh?” Wu Xinghai clicked his tongue. “Having dinner together on weekdays and eting on weekends too—this guy definitely has an agenda. Li Li, you better co up with a plan.”
“What plan?” Li Li’s face was still sour. “She can do whatever she wants. I can’t be bothered to interfere.”
At the end of the day, he wasn’t going to lower himself and grovel for Su Man’s attention.
Absolutely not.
Wu Xinghai glanced at him and sighed, “Well, suit yourself. She’s not my childhood sweetheart, so if she’s gone, she’s gone~”
After finishing, Wu Xinghai grabbed his drink and went off to dance with the others. He swayed his hips and shook his waist, having a grand old ti.
…
Li Li stared at his glass, his emotions boiling up inside him, as if soone had poured a glass of fizzy champagne into his chest. It bubbled and frothed, leaving him feeling restless.
——She’s not my childhood sweetheart, so if she’s gone, she’s gone.
Who was Su Man’s childhood sweetheart?
She was his.
He and Su Man had gone to the sa kindergarten, the sa elentary school, the sa middle school. Although they weren’t in the sa class because he had skipped a grade, they always walked to and from school together. He helped her solve howork problems, and she helped him deal with the troublemakers who bullied him at school.
They had been so great together—how did so guy suddenly appear out of nowhere and steal her away in just a few days?
Li Li drank glass after glass of alcohol, gradually becoming tipsy.
It was like a tug-of-war in his mind. On one side, his pride shouted at him to let her be. On the other, his feelings wouldn’t let him rest, churning with resentnt, anger, disdain, and… jealousy.
…
Because of her argunt with Li Li, Su Man’s mood was like a boiling volcano, ready to erupt at any mont.
But one of her strengths was her ability to focus like a single-core processor. Once she started working, her mind was entirely absorbed by the task, and she could shove all other matters aside, forgetting them entirely.
However, when work ended and she clocked out, all the mockery and insults ca flooding back to her. She was seething again! She wanted nothing more than to charge over to Li Li and tear him into pieces!
How dare he say those things about her?!
On what grounds?!!
Su Man could hardly bear to think about it—the more she dwelled on it, the angrier she got!
Fueled by her rage, she stomped down the hallway, her steps heavy and brisk. A colleague nearby ntioned soone was looking for her, but caught off guard by her mood, she snapped, “Who’s looking for ?!”
The colleague jumped, startled, and froze in place.
anwhile, in the lounge area up front, a man rose to his feet with a gentle smile. “What’s wrong? You seem to be in a bad mood,” he asked calmly.
His voice was deep and soothing, familiar like a warm breeze in spring.
Su Man imdiately shed her scowl, looking surprised as she walked toward him. “What brings you here?” she asked.
Lu Yuwen smiled and said, “I was passing by and realized it was about the ti you get off work, so I thought I’d stop in and try my luck.”
Su Man smiled back. “Yeah, I just finished for the day.”
Then, a bit embarrassed, she explained, “When you texted this morning about dinner on Saturday, I figured that ant I didn’t need to go to the restaurant tonight, so I didn’t bring a change of clothes…”
Wearing a traffic police uniform to a Western restaurant would definitely feel odd, wouldn’t it?
