Chapter 1192: Chapter 1192: Extra Story of the Eel 29

Su Man curled her lips into a smile. “Yeah, yeah, go ahead and sweet-talk . Like you’ve never worn sportswear before.”

Lu Yuwen replied earnestly, “I really haven’t. I used to have so difficulty with my legs and feet. Couldn’t go to the gym, and I was always excused from PE classes at school.”

—This problem with his leg, he could hide it from his driver, from his employees, even from his business partners, but he couldn’t hide it from her.

If they were truly going to be together in the future, she’d have to know sooner or later—about his past, his family, his relatives… So when it ca to his leg, there was simply no way to keep it a secret.

Su Man blinked, stunned. Reflexively, she glanced down at his feet. “…They seem perfectly fine now?”

Lu Yuwen nodded slightly. “Mm. Just recovered not too long ago.”

His words were vague. He didn’t specify whether it was his leg or his foot, nor did he explain how exactly it had been “inconvenient” or the severity of that “inconvenience.”

Su Man hesitated, unsure if she should ask further.

Just then, Lu Yuwen extended his hand towards her, his tone gentle and considerate. “Are the new shoes tiring? Let help you to the changing room.”

Su Man glanced down, shuffling her toes slightly. “…Actually, it’s fine. Sotis I attend charity galas with my family, so I have experience wearing these kinds of shoes. Although the heels aren’t usually this high.”

“Hold onto my arm anyway, just in case you fall,” Lu Yuwen suggested.

Su Man waved him off with a grin. “You’re exaggerating. My balance is great. I wouldn’t fall even on stilts~”

Lu Yuwen sighed helplessly while watching her, patiently coaxing, “Still, hold onto , Manman. If I don’t keep you steady, I’ll be on edge the whole ti, constantly worried you’ll trip.”

After pausing for a mont, seeing her still hesitant, he opened his arm slightly and added, “Your parents trust enough to let you co out with . I can’t let anything go wrong on our very first night.”

Su Man pursed her lips, slowly placing her hand in the crook of his arm.

Looking down at her shoes, he sighed lightly. “When I picked them earlier, I thought they looked nice. Didn’t realize the heels were so high. Why don’t we look for another pair later?”

“N-no need,” Su Man quickly replied. “The shoes match the outfit so well. Let’s not change them. I can manage this height.”

Lu Yuwen considered briefly, then nodded. “Alright. But if you feel tired, you must tell , okay?”

“Mm…” Su Man murmured in soft agreent.

Her feelings were delicate and complex, like floating in mid-air, drifting and swaying, unable to settle down.

Noticing the telltale warmth creeping onto her face again, she tried to distract herself. Clearing her throat softly, she asked, “So, where are we going next?”

Lu Yuwen: “We need to get a set of jewelry to go with your dress.”

Su Man tensed up imdiately and hurriedly said, “I’ll pay for the jewelry!”

He chuckled lightly. “Alright, you pay.”

Whether gold, silver, pearls, or jade, a complete set of jewelry wasn’t cheap. The dress was already an extravagant gift; accepting jewelry on top of that simply wouldn’t feel right.

Su Man had been brought up with a modest and straightforward ethos—every stitch and thread should be earned, and you shouldn’t take advantage of others lightly.

But in the end, they didn’t buy any jewelry.

Su Man picked several options, but Lu Yuwen wasn’t quite satisfied with any of them.

Su Man trusted his sense of aesthetics. If Lu Yuwen said they didn’t match, then they probably didn’t.

Ti had gotten late, so they left the jewelry store and went to a well-known local cuisine restaurant for dinner.

They ordered a few signature dishes and took their ti assessing the restaurant’s bustling crowd. While eating and chatting, Lu Yuwen shared a number of interesting stories about the origins of various cuisines from around the world. Su Man listened with great interest.

After the al, Su Man volunteered to pay the bill.

This ti, Lu Yuwen didn’t stop her, which eased her anxiety sowhat. Though the cost of the al was minuscule compared to the dress, at least she could make her gesture.

After leaving the restaurant, they realized it was already late at night. Su Man drove Lu Yuwen back to his hotel.

As Lu Yuwen got out of the car, he leaned against the window and said to her, “Thank you for driving . There’s a gift I’d like to give you—it’s on the back seat. Open it when you get ho.”

With that, he walked off.

Su Man turned to glance at the back seat, and a sudden sense of unease washed over her…
