Chapter 1168: Chapter 1168: Extra Story of the Eel 5
When the two walked in, Su Man’s dad and mom both seed montarily dazed.
Because—
Standing together, the two of them looked *too* perfect! Like a pair of jade figurines, the man was handso and tall, the woman was elegant and charming—just looking at them felt incredibly pleasing!
Su Man’s dad and mom suddenly had a feeling of “our daughter has finally grown up.”
Before, Su Man would always hang out with the neighbor’s kid. That kid was good-looking too, but why hadn’t they ever felt this way before?
Was it aesthetic fatigue? Was it because they’d watched the two kids grow up together, so they got used to it? Numb to it?
Su Man’s mom sized Lu Yuwen up from head to toe, then from toe to head, and suddenly ca to a realization: it’s the height compatibility!
Su Man herself is tall, standing at 170cm. Most guys standing next to her just looked like buddies, but Lu Yuwen happened to be half a head taller than her.
And on top of that, Su Man was pursing her lips with an unhappy expression, while Lu Yuwen wore a warm smile. It naturally gave people the impression of a “good-natured boyfriend indulging his moody girlfriend” scenario…
Su Man cast a sidelong glance at her mom, looking at her with a strange expression as if silently asking: What are you looking at?
Su Man’s mom quickly stopped her wandering thoughts.
Co to think of it, it was odd. It was obviously the first ti they’d t this Mr. Lu, so why did she feel an inexplicable sense of familiarity?
From his hospital bed, Su Man’s dad said to Lu Yuwen, “If it hadn’t been for Mr. Lu helping out today, this old life of mine might have been forfeit. I don’t know where your family lives, but once I recover, I’ll be sure to visit and thank you personally.”
Lu Yuwen smiled modestly, his tone gentle. “It was nothing, just happened to be the right place at the right ti. Anyone else would have helped. My ho isn’t in Shanghai, so don’t worry about it—just focus on getting better.”
Su Man’s mom curiously asked, “Where is Mr. Lu’s ho then?”
Lu Yuwen replied, “Nanjing. Just got to Shanghai today.”
“Oh, what brings you to Shanghai?” Su Man’s mom asked. “Sightseeing or a business trip? Did you co alone?”
Su Man furrowed her brows. “Mom, are you interrogating soone for their details?”
Su Man’s mom gave an embarrassed laugh, shooting her daughter a glare before turning back to smile at Lu Yuwen. “Mr. Lu, please don’t mind . As soone getting on in age, I tend to ask a lot of questions. I was just thinking—if you’re here for sothing important, and if there’s anything we can help with, we’d love to lend a hand.”
“I’m just here to wander around,” Lu Yuwen said with a warm smile, politely adding, “You actually look very young and carry yourself with such grace—you don’t seem like soone getting on in age at all.”
Su Man’s mom’s face imdiately blood with joy, grinning so wide it couldn’t close. “Oh my, Mr. Lu, you really know how to flatter!”
Su Man pursed her lips, staying silent. Her eyes fixed on her mom, silently thinking: He’s just being polite—why are you taking it so seriously?
At this mont, they heard Lu Yuwen continue, “By the looks of Miss Su’s excellent appearance, it’s clear she inherited it from you both.”
Su Man: “…”
Alright then.
Who doesn’t love hearing nice things…
Sure enough, Lu Yuwen’s words hit a chord with Su Man’s mom and dad. Complints about oneself might evoke modesty, but when it ca to their daughter—they had no reservations to hold back.
Su Man’s mom said, “Our Manman has taken after since she was little. Whenever we took her out as a child, neighbors would always complint her, saying she looked like a little fairy!”
After a few more words of praise, she recalled the incident in the hallway earlier and felt a bit sheepish, hurriedly changing the subject:
“Ahem, this kid is great in every way, except she’s a bit quick-tempered. She didn’t scare you earlier, did she?”
Hearing this, Su Man’s dad quickly added, “Our daughter is always a bit heavy-handed and has surely offended plenty of people. We’re really sorry about that!”
Recalling the earlier scene, the corners of Lu Yuwen’s lips curved slightly as he said courteously, “Miss Su is indeed unlike most girls. She’s exceptionally bold and decisive, which is a rare trait. You’re truly lucky to have a daughter like her.”
Su Man’s mom was practically on cloud nine.
Since Su Man was young, her fighting had caused countless problems. As her parents, they’d been utterly exasperated. How often had they ever heard such comforting words?
Feeling a surge of excitent, Su Man’s mom blurted out, “Mr. Lu, you’re here in Shanghai all alone, unfamiliar with the place—how about letting Manman accompany you? She knows all the best spots!”
