Chapter 131: Chapter 122: Jiangg Youx

"Wei Chen, my affairs are none of your business, and I will never marry you! Spare

your crocodile tears!" Hearing his voice, the disgust on Tie Lan’s face deepened. With a flick of her hand, she sat down before the campfire.

"Heh heh, my dear Lan’er, what are you talking about? We’re a match made in heaven. The chances of us running into each other on a mission are less than one in ten thousand, yet here we are. It must be fate!" A young man erged from the crowd with a smile, his eyes fixed on her curvaceous figure tightly wrapped in armor, a gleam of excitent shining within them.

"This valley is where we are staying. Get out now! You are not welco here!"

Seeing the look in his eyes, Tie Lan grew even more disgusted. Furious, she drew her Longsword and bellowed.

"That’s Wei Chen, the Young Master of the Luoyong rcenary Corps. He’s been obsessed with the Young Miss ever since he first laid eyes on her. But the man is a total degenerate who drinks, gambles, and whores around. His character is rotten to the core. Even though he’s powerful, the Young Miss can’t stand him."

Nie Yun was puzzled by the tension between the two when he heard a hushed voice by his ear. Turning his head, he saw it was Liao Feng.

’It seems Liao Feng really thinks I have a thing for Tie Lan, so he’s explaining all this to

on purpose.’

"Not welco? Heh heh, my dear Lan’er, you’re mistaken! This valley doesn’t have a na. By what right can you keep us from staying here? Besides, we still need to... get to know each other better. Isn’t this the perfect opportunity?"

Wei Chen gave a sly chuckle and walked toward Tie Lan.

SHING!

A flash of sword light streaked past, and a startled Wei Chen hastily retreated two steps.

"Get lost now, or don’t bla

for what happens next!" Tie Lan’s brows furrowed in anger.

Seeing her attitude, a cold glint flashed in Wei Chen’s eyes, though he quickly concealed it. "Our Luoyong rcenary Corps and your Iron Rock rcenary Corps go way back. We can set aside our usual rivalry for now. Since we’ve happened to et here, how about a little contest? If we win, I’ll be staying here tonight, and you, Tie Lan, will have to keep

company. If I lose, we’ll leave imdiately. What do you say? Dare to make a wager?"

"Bullshit! If you win, our Young Miss keeps you company, but if you lose, you just walk away scot-free? What kind of sweet deal is that?!"

"Are you dreaming? Get lost!"

Hearing Wei Chen’s outrageous proposal, Liao Feng and the others couldn’t hold back any longer and all roared in protest.

A competition was supposed to be fair. If this guy won, he’d get their Young Miss, but if he lost, he’d just walk away. It was a deal with zero risk for him. The sheer audacity!

"Hmph!"

Amidst the clamor, a faint, cold snort suddenly sounded from within the crowd behind Wei Chen.

The sound wasn’t loud, but it carried an intense, piercing quality that jolted everyone’s senses.

WHOOSH!

A middle-aged man stepped out.

This middle-aged man was tall and sturdy, with extrely long arms like a gibbon’s. His cheekbones were high, and his eyes were like a hawk’s. The mont he appeared, he exuded a heavy, oppressive aura, forcing everyone back two steps.

"Jiang You? It’s you?"

By the light of the fire, Tie Long recognized the man before him, and his pupils constricted.

This Jiang You was the vice-captain of the Luoyong rcenary Corps, a Mid-Stage Qi Sect master. He practiced Horizontal External Training, and his pair of Iron Fists could shatter stone tablets and even blast steel into flat discs. He was a well-known figure among the Three Great rcenary Corps of the Divine Wind Empire. To think he would appear here!

"Heh heh, of course it’s ! With

here, do you still think our Young Master’s proposal is unfair?"

Jiang You flicked his finger, and a beam of Qi shot toward a nearby rcenary. The rcenary dodged backward, but before he could react, the Longsword at his waist flew out and landed in Jiang You’s hand.

He squeezed the Longsword with his fingers, and two deep imprints appeared on the blade.

"So powerful..."

Seeing Jiang You do this, everyone’s expression changed.

Although the rcenary’s Longsword was no great treasure, it was still a Noble Top Grade weapon. To leave imprints on it so casually without using even a shred of True Qi... ’His Horizontal Training is astounding!’

One could only imagine that with such Horizontal Training, he probably wouldn’t even be scratched by a sword!

A Mid-Stage Qi Sect expert on his own, combined with impenetrable Horizontal Training... ’This Jiang You is even more terrifying than the legends claim!’

"Are you trying to coerce us with force?"

Tie Long’s expression was grim.

"Coerce? What are you saying, Vice-Captain Tie Long? Our two great rcenary Corps are old acquaintances. Why would we possibly resort to coercion? We just want to have a little competition!"

Wei Chen smiled faintly.

Although he claid not to be using coercion, his every action was laced with threat, implying that if Tie Long and his n refused the unreasonable demand, Jiang You would make a move.

Once an expert of that caliber acted, even if Tie Long and his n joined forces, they likely wouldn’t be a match for him.

"Fine! A competition it is. Na your terms!"

Wei Chen’s intentions were so obvious that Tie Lan naturally saw through them. Her face flushed red with anger, but there was nothing she could do.

’This is the wilderness; it’s normal for a few people to die out here. If Wei Chen decides to wipe us out, we have no way to resist.’

"Heh heh, that’s what I like about Lan’er. So decisive, never dragging things out. Good. Since you’ve agreed to a competition, then a competition it is. When the ti cos, you’d better be ready to accept your loss. Don’t try to back out or deny it, or things will get unpleasant for everyone..."

Wei Chen began to laugh.

"Hmph! It’s not yet certain who will win and who will lose!" Tie Lan snorted coldly.

’She’s still as stubborn as ever...’

Hearing this, Nie Yun couldn’t help but shake his head.

’Even though I’m an outsider, I see exactly what’s going on. This Wei Chen clearly just wants to take advantage of Tie Lan; the competition is nothing but a pretext!’

The Iron Rock rcenary Corps was a family-style rcenary organization. While its overall foundation wasn’t as deep as the Luoyong rcenary Corps’, it wasn’t weak. If Wei Chen really forced himself on Tie Lan, he could certainly succeed with Jiang You’s strength. However, the mont he faced retaliation from Iron Rock, he would surely be in a terrible predicant.

The Three Great rcenary Corps maintained a balance of power. If Iron Rock were to ally with one of the others, the Luoyong rcenary Corps could very well be destroyed as a result.

That was why he’d co up with the excuse of a competition—it both reduced friction and allowed him to win the beauty.

Even though the pretext for the competition was pathetic, Tie Lan had no choice but to agree. After all, Jiang You was too strong. If she refused and he decided to use force, they would be utterly unable to withstand it.

Based on Nie Yun’s knowledge of Tie Lan from his past life, he knew this girl was cold on the outside but warm on the inside. Though her words spared no one, her heart was actually very soft. She knew perfectly well that Wei Chen was just stirring up trouble and trying to take advantage of her, yet she was helpless. She would never gamble with everyone else’s lives for her own sake.

"Young Miss..."

Nie Yun understood Tie Lan’s intentions, as did the other rcenaries. All of them were flushed red with anxiety, their fists cracking as they clenched them, yet they were powerless to do anything.

’Tie Lan, since our paths have crossed, I will take this opportunity to repay the kindness you showed

in my past life.’

Seeing the worried expressions on the rcenaries’ faces and Wei Chen’s smug satisfaction, Nie Yun sighed to himself.
