Five minutes later, the Tianjian Bureau’s warriors whooshed out of their headquarters. None of them drove; they all relied on their legs.
The situation was urgent, so there was no ti to drive. If a car encountered traffic and jeopardized the operation, you’d either be shot by your superiors or forced to commit suicide on the spot.
All of them were experts at or above the Galaxy Stage. Their unencumbered speed was comparable to a car’s, and they had the advantage of traveling in straight lines. Most of those at the Star Sea Stage could even fly.
The detected area was originally the Duanmu Family’s territory. After the family was exterminated, the location was slated for developnt as a comrcial center. Only two years had passed, so construction had just begun, leaving the site a chaotic ss.
Due to heavy rains in recent days, construction had stalled. Only a few workers slept in dormitories made of colored steel panels on the site. No matter the world, construction workers are always among the hardest working.
The Tianjian Bureau’s warriors descended from the sky and locked onto so of the workers remaining at the site.
They burst through the doors. "Tianjian Bureau business! A major event is about to happen here. You must evacuate imdiately!"
A crowd of clueless workers was ushered out by the Tianjian Bureau before they could grasp what was happening. The laborers watched in bewildernt as Tianjian Bureau special forces in military uniforms steadily arrived, their faces etched with confusion.
Deep beneath the construction site, candles flickered.
This was a secret room buried 200 ters underground, the Duanmu Family’s final refuge. According to Tianjian Bureau records, when the Duanmu Family was annihilated, one person completely disappeared without a trace.
Duanmu Qingqing, Duanmu Yi’s sister, had just started high school. The Tianjian Bureau attempted to find her, but after more than a year without a trace, they assud the Duanmu Family had sent her away in advance. After all, she was just a high school student who knew nothing. If she ran away, so be it.
But in reality, Duanmu Qingqing had been taken by a Demon Clan agent on the eve of the Duanmu Family’s destruction. Wang Lan had thought Duanmu Fanghua was the only Poison Sting in the Modu City infiltration plot. Even if there were others, surely they wouldn’t be from the Duanmu Family again.
He had no idea that just as Duanmu Fanghua was a Poison Sting, so was Duanmu Qingqing.
Duanmu Qingqing hadn’t needed to beco a Poison Sting; she was the treasured daughter of the Duanmu Family. The Demon Clan wouldn’t typically make a dearly loved, direct descendant of a Star Martial Art family their Poison Sting.
But coincidentally, the Demon Clan had leverage over Duanmu Qingqing. You could never imagine how terrifying a pampered and morally twisted young girl could be.
In her sixth-grade year, Duanmu Qingqing developed a crush on a boy in her class. Such affection might not count as love to adults, but to Duanmu Qingqing, it was love—a love that sought to possess the boy entirely, a love that wouldn’t allow any other girl near him.
Yet, an oblivious girl got close to him. Their relationship flourished right under Duanmu Qingqing’s nose, and her interference only pushed the boy further away, driving Duanmu Qingqing into a twisted, insane jealousy.
Finally, on a stormy night, Duanmu Qingqing found an opportunity to push the girl into a river, where she drowned. Duanmu Qingqing thought she had committed the perfect cri. But unbeknownst to her, a Demon Clan spy, who had been watching her for a long ti, caught the entire scene on cara.
「Three days later.」
News spread of the girl’s accidental drowning; no one suspected foul play. Soon after, the boy Duanmu Qingqing liked, grief-stricken, also transferred schools.
For Duanmu Qingqing, this was perhaps just a painful part of growing up. But soon enough, Duanmu Fanghua confronted her with a video of her pushing her classmate into the water.
For the Duanmu Family, such a matter could have been easily handled if managed properly, but everything depended on whose hands the evidence was in. The Demon Clan had every ans to turn what Duanmu Qingqing considered a trivial incident into a major scandal, completely ruining her bright future.
So, Duanmu Qingqing took the bait and successfully beca a Poison Sting in the infiltration plan.
Duanmu Qingqing was cruel-hearted, but her talent was diocre at best. She couldn’t compare with Duanmu Fanghua, let alone Duan Ziqi. Her greatest value, however, lay in being the legitimate daughter of Duanmu Qingsuang.
Having witnessed the grand Duanmu Family’s destruction by the Tianjian Bureau and the Yu Family, this woman, already possessing questionable morals, developed a hatred for Jade Country and even the entire human race—a hatred even more intense than that of the Demon Clan mbers themselves.
Duanmu Qingqing’s value originally lay in her identity. But with the fall of the Duanmu Family, she lost that status. Later, when even her maternal grandfather’s Lv Family fell, she beca a pathetic creature with no remaining value to exploit.
The more she experienced the world’s vicissitudes, the deeper her hatred beca, engraving itself into her very bones. Given a chance to destroy the entire world, she wouldn’t hesitate.
Duanmu Qingqing waited for two years. During that ti, she fell from a noble young lady to a pariah. Finally, her chance ca: the Demon Clan had actually managed to smuggle the Ti-Space Gemstone into Jade Country, and even into Modu City.
But activating the Ti-Space Gemstone required specific equipnt. Building this equipnt without alerting the Tianjian Bureau was a grave challenge. Under the Sky Net cast by the Tianjian Bureau, how difficult could it be to quietly construct the activation device?
At this mont, however, the Duanmu Family’s secret chamber beca the perfect construction platform. It was large enough and sufficiently concealed. They had been in this sunless secret chamber for a month now, surviving only by catching rats and insects.
The Demon Clan mbers were fine; for them, taste was superfluous. Anything that could replenish their energy was food. But for Duanmu Qingqing, this was hell on earth, an unbearable torture.
"Almost there, almost there... The activation device is nearly complete! Soon... very soon, our clan’s great army will descend..." a Demon Clan mber muttered frantically while adjusting the equipnt.
BOOM RUMBLE— Suddenly, a thunderous roar erupted, and the ground began to shake violently.
"What’s happening?"
"This is bad! The humans have found us! They’re using Earth Attribute Star Martial Skills to dig us out!"
"Damn it, how were we exposed? Was it you?" a Demon Clan mber grabbed Duanmu Qingqing and, without another word, slapped her. "Did you inform the humans?"
"If I had wanted to notify the humans, I wouldn’t have told you about this place," Duanmu Qingqing responded coldly. "Besides, we’re two hundred ters underground. Their Star Martial Skills can’t reach this deep. They’ll leave after their search turns up empty."
The Duanmu Family had, of course, deliberately built the secret chamber so deep underground with this in mind. Although Earth Attribute Star Martial Skills could cover a range of hundreds of ters, their effective depth was limited to only tens of ters.
Even a Titled Strongman wouldn’t be able to excavate sothing two hundred ters deep. Normally, if they can’t unearth anything, they’ll assu nothing is there and turn their attention elsewhere.
Unfortunately for them, they didn’t know that Jade Country had already acquired a Ti-Space Gem Detector, which could pinpoint its location to within ten ters. If the detector indicated the Ti-Space Gemstone was here, then it was definitely here.
"Director, there’s nothing here."
"Could the instrunt be wrong?"
Cheng Jianlong’s brows furrowed slightly. "It can’t be wrong... It should be right here."
"Let do it." As the words fell, a short, balding middle-aged man gently descended from the sky.
"Earth Walker? What are you doing here?"
"I was on leave visiting family and just happened to be passing through Modu City. I was planning to see you, but then I saw you hurrying over here without stopping. I figured sothing big must have happened, so I ca to take a look."
As he spoke, Qiao Shan slapped the ground with his palm. A vigorous burst of Star Power surged from his body. Instantly, Qiao Shan’s expression changed slightly, revealing surprise.
"Interesting. To think a chamber could be built this deep... There’s definitely sothing here. Rise!"
BOOMING sounds erupted as the earth violently upheaved. The secret chamber, hidden two hundred ters underground, suddenly ascended as if on an elevator. Panic instantly ensued among the Demon Clan mbers within.
The device’s calibration progress was still at fifty percent; at least one more minute was needed. They had to buy enough ti. The Demon Clan mbers exchanged glances, reaching a decision in an instant.
"Duanmu Qingqing, when the calibration reaches one hundred percent, you will press the start button. This is your only chance for vengeance. Otherwise, we will all die."
"Understood. I’ve been waiting for this mont for a long ti."
「anwhile.」
Wang Lan was still rushing towards headquarters. Although he had just replenished a bit of spatial energy from the Ti-Space Gemstone, the amount this ti was very small, only enough for a few teleportations.
"Your Highness Wang Lan, hurry! The Ti-Space Gemstone has appeared in Modu City!" the Hummingbird’s voice suddenly rang out.
So soon? Wang Lan didn’t have ti to hesitate. "Xinyu, Xiangwen, grab my hand!"
The mont Xinyu and Xiangwen grabbed Wang Lan’s hand, their vision blurred. In an instant, they appeared at the entrance to the Pioneer Space in the northwest. After setting down Xie Sisi, whom he had been carrying on his back, Wang Lan quickly exited the Different Dinsional Space.
It was like passing through a mirror, stepping from one world to another. After returning to the outside world, his mind instantly locked onto the coordinates of his ho in Modu City. His figure twisted slightly, and he vanished.
「Back ho.」
Wang Lan imdiately called Cheng Jianlong. "Director Cheng, where is the Ti-Space Gemstone? Give the coordinates!"
Receiving Wang Lan’s call, Cheng Jianlong felt greatly relieved. Wang Lan was the only one who could prevent the Ti-Space Gemstone’s activation. With him in Modu City, the Demon Clan has no chance of activating it.
"It’s at the old Duanmu Family residence. Co quickly!"
"Yes!" Wang Lan shouted, leaping out of the window. The starry sky seed to unfold as the Phoenix Saint Cloth materialized around him, wings sprouting from his back. With a light flap, he transford into a whirlwind, rushing into the sky.
BOOM— Suddenly, terrifying attacks erupted from the churning soil, assaulting the Earth Walker. The presence of the Ti-Space Gemstone naturally ans there are Demon Clan spies. Thus, Qiao Shan was well-prepared.
As the attacks closed in, a wall of earth rose before him. Instantly, four or five Demon Clan spies burst from the ground, spreading out to attack in all directions.
To the onlookers, these few Demon Clan spies were like fish in a barrel. Facing two Titled Strongn, a dozen masters at the Star Sea Stage, and a large group of warriors at the peak of the Galaxy Stage, what tricks could a re Demon Clan spy group possibly pull off?
Cheng Jianlong acted instantly, decapitating one Demon Clan spy with a swift sword slash. Turning, he bisected another at the waist.
Before Cheng Jianlong, the Demon Clan spies were like targets in Fruit Ninja—SLICE! SLICE! SLICE!—one after another.
"Duanmu—!" With a heaven-shaking scream, the last Demon Clan spy was cut down.
At that exact mont, the instrunt coincidentally reached one hundred percent.
A savage smile spread across Duanmu Qingqing’s face. With one decisive slap, she pressed the launch button...
