BOOM—

A soft noise erupted, and the earthen shell defending Bai Ji burst instantaneously, turning to powder as if it had been made of flour.

Startled, Bai Ji raised her head, her mind a complete blank.

The Winged Dragon swept through the sky, its ferocious visage filling Bai Ji’s entire field of vision.

WHOOSH—

The sound of Speedy Wind sweeping through the canyon echoed in her ears. Bai Ji stood motionless, but the upper half of her body had already vanished.

This scene left the other three, who had just dodged, completely dumbfounded.

Their previous spirit and splendor, the tis they had fought side by side—it all seed like it had just happened. Yet, in a re mont, due to a single error in response, Bai Ji t a violent death on the spot.

CLINK— With a soft sound, a necklace rolled to Wang Lan’s feet. The Wind God Wyvern completed another diving attack before soaring back up to the clouds. After circling once, it dove down again.

"Bai Ji... Bai Ji! Aaargh—I’ll give you everything I’ve got!" Yue Jifeng was furious! Furious to the point of madness!

Star Power danced around his body like flas, and the sword in his hand instantly shot out a brilliant green light.

"Jifeng, calm down!" Wang Lan urgently called out, but Yue Jifeng, undeterred, leaped high into the air to et the diving Wind God Wyvern.

"Purple Fla Arrow!" Wang Lan yelled, his hand blurring as he executed the sword skill.

The Wind God Wyvern was too strong, its might far beyond what Wang Lan could bear. Even activating the Phoenix Form was like a mantis trying to stop a chariot.

The Phoenix Form can at best exhibit peak Galaxy-level combat prowess. Even though I’ve mastered the Combined Star Martial Skill, I can barely reach the Star Sea realm. Even Yu Ruoyun, whose combat power is stable in the Star Sea realm, is no match for it. How could I be? The Phoenix Form has to be an ace in the hole, reserved for critical situations. Otherwise, if I activate it and can’t change our predicant, once its duration expires, I’ll undoubtedly die. At this mont, I can no longer think about teammates or companions; I can only be responsible for my own life.

The Purple Fla Arrow rushed into the void, striking the Wind God Wyvern overhead a mont before Yue Jifeng could. A strange barrier materialized once again on the Wind God Wyvern’s body, an absolute defense that seed capable of nullifying all attacks.

BOOM— The Purple Fla Arrow exploded, and in that split second, Yue Jifeng’s sword had already descended.

SWISH—

This was Yue Jifeng’s all-or-nothing strike, one that gathered all of his spirit and vigor.

In a trance-like state, a hazy silhouette seed to appear around Yue Jifeng. It was the silhouette of a woman with long, flowing hair, as beautiful as a celestial fairy. As Yue Jifeng’s sword fell, the silhouette’s sword seed to slash down in concert.

The Wind God Wyvern was bisected by Yue Jifeng’s strike, split evenly and neatly in half.

The barrier, seemingly an absolute defense, did not stop Yue Jifeng’s sword.

But this one strike had exhausted all of Yue Jifeng’s spirit and energy.

Looking at the Wind God Wyvern split in two, Yue Jifeng’s lips curled into a faint smile.

"Bai Ji, I have avenged you—"

"Jifeng—"

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH—

Three Wind God Wyverns flashed past Yue Jifeng’s body like lightning. In the sky, Yue Jifeng, looking as helpless as a broken chocolate bar, was snatched up in the maws of the three Wyverns as they soared back into the heavens.

"Next up, it’s us," Yu Ruoyun said with a mournful laugh, her face marred by various scratches and stained with blood. She glanced at the Phoenix Saint Cloth on Wang Lan’s body, envy apparent in her eyes.

"Had I known, I would have brought the Star Palace Artifact. I always thought relying on the Star Palace Artifact wasn’t true skill, that one should stand on the peak through genuine strength. Now I think about it, how foolish! What genuine strength? Being alive is the true strength."

Wang Lan glanced at Yu Ruoyun, surprised. "You’re not coveting my Saint Cloth, are you? I can’t give that to you."

"Heh... you can still joke at a ti like this? They’re attacking. Let’s fight! Even if we die, we’ll take a few of them down with us."

"Alright!"

The Wind God Wyverns dove down from the sky, and Wang Lan was about to activate the Phoenix Form.

DONG—

Suddenly, a deep bell toll resonated. The bell toll, accompanied by sound waves visible to the naked eye, seed to instantly sweep across space and ti, traversing the desolate universe.

On hearing the bell, the Wind God Wyverns scattered like frightened sparrows, beating their wings to ascend high into the sky and disappear from sight.

DONG—

The bell continued to toll every three seconds. Within Jiang Xinyu’s perception, Exotic Beasts were rapidly retreating.

"This bell... what’s going on?"

"No idea. But I do know that the bell has a great impact on Exotic Beasts and none on us... Let’s go, find where the sound is coming from. Whether we live or die may depend on it."

Wang Lan quickly picked up the necklace at his feet, then with a swift movent, retrieved Bai Ji’s and Yue Jifeng’s backpacks, and hurried with Yu Ruoyun towards the source of the bell at top speed.

Both of them knew flying Star Martial Arts, so their travel speed was much faster than running on the ground. Though the bell seed nearby, after covering two kiloters in the blink of an eye, they still hadn’t seen a trace of its source.

"What’s going on?!"

The bell rang ten tis and then suddenly stopped.

After the bell ceased, those Exotic Beasts that had been dispersed by the bell seed to fully recover their vitality and beca active once more. Flying Exotic Beasts burst out from the dense forest one after another to circle in the air, while thousands of other beasts in the forest roared up at the sky.

Their expressions changed dramatically, and they instantly accelerated again.

Suddenly, directly ahead of them, hundreds of Wind God Wyverns appeared like a dense swarm of bees deep within the Cloud Sea.

Wang Lan and Yu Ruoyun both stopped dead in their tracks, staring in horror at the overwhelming army of Exotic Beasts before them. They couldn’t fathom why this horde of Wind God Wyverns was flying towards them from the opposite direction. All they knew was that they were about to be instantly swallowed by the army of Exotic Beasts.

Retreating to the ground would be useless; the army of Exotic Beasts below was as dense as a swarm of ants. In the sky, they only needed to face flying Exotic Beasts, but descending to the ground would an confronting an army composed of a hundred different races.

"Wang Lan, I have one last-ditch Star Martial Skill, but I haven’t mastered it yet. Whether I succeed or not, I will try to create a chance for you to survive. So, when I tell you to run later, you must run."

"The Dragon Emperor Form?"

"Yes!"

"Alright! I’ll activate the Phoenix Form too, but I can only maintain it for five minutes. If we can’t break through their ranks in five minutes, I’ll also try to create an opportunity for you."

"Okay!"

Instantly, golden Star Energy Fluctuations shimred around Yu Ruoyun, and a golden dragon twined around her body in a spiral.

At the sa ti, Wang Lan activated the Phoenix Form.

A Phoenix Tail Flower insignia lit up on Wang Lan’s forehead. Flas instantly engulfed him, a pair of fiery phoenix wings spread out behind him, and a loud phoenix cry resounded.

ROAR—

At the very mont Wang Lan’s phoenix cry sounded, a dragon’s roar suddenly reached their ears. Both Wang Lan and Yu Ruoyun sensed that sothing was amiss.

After they activated the Phoenix Form and the Dragon Emperor Form, their Star Powers began to attract each other like opposite poles of Yin and Yang. Their bodies were also irresistibly drawn closer and closer.

"What’s going on?" exclaid Wang Lan in surprise.

"I don’t know, my Star Power is out of control!"

BOOM— Their palms, drawn together as if by Yin and Yang, slapped tightly against each other. The mont their palms connected, their Star Powers also rged wildly.

In an instant, Wang Lan’s mind was flooded with countless pieces of information. In the depths of his Spiritual Sea of Consciousness, the icon for the Phoenix Form on the system interface changed, transforming into a diamond-colored Dragon and Phoenix Auspicious symbol.

As the stream of information flooded his mind, Wang Lan’s eyes snapped open. He stared at Yu Ruoyun in wide-eyed amazent, and she, in turn, looked back at him with utter astonishnt.

Yu Ruoyun had also transford significantly in that mont. Her face was now covered in golden dragon scales, and two cute Dragon Horns had even sprouted from her forehead.

From Yu Ruoyun’s eyes, Wang Lan understood that she had experienced the exact sa things he had.

After their Star Martial Skills attracted each other, not only did their Star Power fuse, but their Star Martial Skills also beca interconnected.

Wang Lan could unleash all the Star Martial Skills that Yu Ruoyun could, and Yu Ruoyun could unleash all the Star Martial Skills Wang Lan had learned. The fusion of the Phoenix Form and the Dragon Emperor Form wasn’t just a qualitative change; their Star Power reserves had also skyrocketed severalfold.

The two of them were as if sharing one body.

At that very mont, the Wind God Wyverns from ahead had reached them. There was no ti for astonishnt or hesitation. They both instantly stirred their Star Energy Fluctuations. For aerial combat, the wind attribute was naturally the most suitable.

"Combined Star Martial Skill, Wind Edge Burn!"

With their minds perfectly synchronized, they simultaneously unleashed the Combined Star Martial Skill. The Wind Capturing Net, augnted by scorching flas, ford a giant golden net that hurtled towards the approaching flock of Wind God Wyverns.

SCREECH—

The dozen or so Wyverns that were hit faltered, while the remaining Wind God Wyverns scattered in all directions. Barriers rippled around the Wind God Wyverns, attempting to repel the combined blow, but their vibrating barriers began to visibly and rapidly fade.

"Combined Star Martial Skill, Purple Fla Fire Dragon—"

Suddenly, they both launched another super-S-grade Star Martial Skill at the sa ti. A purple dragon, glowing like athyst crystal, burst forth from the array. Accompanied by Flash Thunder, it slamd into their opponents.

BOOM—

The ensnared Wyverns were hit squarely by the Purple Fla Fire Dragon. A loud explosion shook heaven and earth, and five Wind God Wyverns exploded in mid-air, torn to shreds. Another seven or eight Wind God Wyverns were heavily injured and flapped their wings to flee into the distance.

The scattered Wind God Wyverns circled wide and then returned, attacking Wang Lan and Yu Ruoyun from behind. Having struck a successful blow, Yu Ruoyun’s fighting spirit blazed. Rembering the tragic deaths of Bai Ji and Yue Jifeng, her killing intent solidified and radiated outwards.

"Ruoyun, I only have five minutes," Wang Lan urgently reminded her.

"Retreat—"

The fiery wings behind Wang Lan suddenly expanded. With a light flap, the two of them broke the sound barrier, shooting into the distance as streaks of light.

Excited shrieks suddenly ca from the Wind God Wyverns behind them.

The Wind God Wyverns prided themselves on their speed; in this entire realm, they had never encountered an Exotic Beast that could fly faster. These two strange-looking creatures... they can actually fly so fast?! This realization was, of course, intolerable to them.

Instantly, the Wind God Wyverns flapped their wings furiously. Their wind-affinity tails flared like rocket thrusters, propelling them like arrows in pursuit of Wang Lan and Yu Ruoyun.

Wang Lan could no longer hear the wind; the world around him was terrifyingly silent.

Although he didn’t know exactly how fast they were moving, it was definitely supersonic. Yet, despite this incredible speed, they hadn’t spotted any signs of human civilization.

Could that bell sound just be a fluke of nature, so kind of geological phenonon? Wang Lan even began to doubt.

His skill points were rapidly depleting, and ti was ticking away. Yet, the Wind God Wyverns still pursued them relentlessly.

"Wang Lan, look!" Following Yu Ruoyun’s gaze, a solitary peak appeared in their field of vision. Its shape was peculiar, like a colossal sword thrust vertically into the earth.

If this were a sword, it would be one wielded by a giant a thousand feet tall.
