Sienna Quinn patted Evan Quinn’s head and said with a smile, "Then Mommy will prepare a little more fatty at for Chloe to eat. Chloe, don’t be upset, okay?"
Hearing Sienna say this, Evan Quinn was so happy that he danced around, but he hadn’t forgotten that he was still sulking with Sienna.
"Mommy, other kids are picked up by their mommies after school. Why haven’t you co to pick up recently? Chloe even asked about you. I feel so lonely. Can you co to pick up after school too?"
Evan Quinn said disappointedly.
Sienna already felt very guilty, and when she heard Evan say this, she felt even more heartbroken for him.
"Chloe, it’s been Mommy’s fault for this ti. I promise you, whenever I have ti in the future, I’ll pick you up from school, just like your little friends, okay?"
"Really? Then when will you have ti?"
Evan asked persistently, clinging to the question.
Sienna thought seriously and said, "Then Mommy will definitely pick you up from school every Friday at least, okay?"
"Okay!"
Evan agreed readily, sothing was better than nothing, and he was content.
At the dinner table, Evan ate heartily, having not been this happy in a long ti.
With a good mood, his appetite naturally improved, and soon, the dishes he liked were almost gone.
After being full, Evan started to chatter, "Mommy, Ms. Thornton told you’ve been busy helping Uncle Yates recently. He isn’t a good person, so why do you always help him with stuff?"
Whenever Felix Orwell was ntioned, Evan’s expression wasn’t very pleasant.
Sienna felt a bit helpless seeing Evan worry about her affairs, "Evan, just focus on your studies, and leave Mommy’s matters to Mommy to handle, don’t worry about it."
"Mommy, I have the right to know. There are two kids in my class whose parents are divorced, and they say their step-parents don’t treat them well. I’m scared... so you and Daddy must maintain a good relationship."
Sienna hugged Evan tightly, "Chloe, don’t be scared. You have to trust Mommy. The person Mommy loves the most is you. No matter what, Mommy will always protect you well."
Evan completely trusted Sienna’s words.
But on that day at the Warren family, he saw how those people bullied Sienna, so he believed that Sienna marrying Axel Yates wouldn’t bring her happiness.
Just then, the door suddenly opened.
Sienna was startled because only she and Evan were at ho tonight. Chiara was busy with company matters, and Felix also wasn’t coming ho as he was busy too.
She quickly turned her head towards the door, where a lavishly dressed lady entered. Sienna knew this person very well; soone with a key to Axel Yates’s villa wouldn’t be a stranger. It was Mrs. Warren, Axel Yates’s later-supported mother who had co.
Sienna hurried from the living room to the door and nervously greeted Mrs. Warren, "Auntie, you’re here!"
Mrs. Warren wore a gentle smile, "Why wouldn’t I be welco? It seems like you’re getting more and more temperantal now. Don’t I get to see you?"
"No, Auntie, I didn’t an that."
Although Mrs. Warren wasn’t kind-hearted, her attitude this ti was significantly different from the last ti.
The last ti, Mrs. Warren was playing nice because Axel was present and she didn’t want things to beco too strained.
This ti, having nothing to hold back, she spoke her mind freely.
Mrs. Warren walked in with an air of arrogance, directly sat on the couch, and looked at Sienna with a face full of pride, "I’ve always wanted to talk to you, but Dylan said you’ve been busy helping Axel deal with company matters recently? Well, now that you’re done, we should have a direct talk."
Evan, hiding behind Sienna, stared wide-eyed in fear at Mrs. Warren, and Sienna patted his head and said, "Chloe, you should go back to your room and watch cartoons first."
Evan nodded and waddled his way upstairs.
Then Sienna slowly spoke, "Auntie, I can tell you don’t like being with Axel. But Axel and I have been friends for many years, and we can’t possibly just cut contact. Of course, if you insist on driving away, I have no choice."
"What a joke! Sienna, I didn’t expect you to be such a shaless woman! How dare you utter such words today! I don’t know what ans you used to keep Axel pining after you, but if you have any conscience at all, you shouldn’t harm our Axel! What you’re doing is biting the hand that feeds you!"
Mrs. Warren, neglecting her image, began to insult Sienna harshly.
She breathed heavily, the fire in her heart not diminishing a bit.
"You’re divorced, and you have a child, and more importantly, you offended the Lawson family. What right do you have to be with Axel? If not for Axel back then, you might still be begging in France. Now, you just ca back to the country and moved into his apartnt. What? Do you think stealing a march by giving birth to a child for him will let you into my Warren family’s door? I’m telling you, that will never happen in this lifeti!"
To Mrs. Warren’s accusations, Sienna didn’t rush to argue. She accepted that what Mrs. Warren said was true—she had selfishly wasted Axel’s youth for many years and carelessly tarnished his reputation.
She admitted to those things, but she would never admit to Mrs. Warren’s claim that she intended to use her child to elevate her status by entering the Warren family.
"Auntie, I know I’m not the daughter-in-law you envisioned, but I’m not as awful as you say. Axel is an upright gentleman, and we have never done anything disrespectful. The reason I live in his apartnt is because I had nowhere else to go, and the city company’s arrangent out of sympathy. President Yates was kind enough to take in us mother and child, and just for this kindness, I will rember it for a lifeti."
Sienna’s gaze was icy cold. She owed Axel a lot, but that didn’t an she could silently endure Mrs. Warren’s insults and lies.
Mrs. Warren was further angered by Sienna’s words, "Ha, nowhere to go? But there’s still Landon Lawson, isn’t there? His wealth alone is enough for your sister to spend her entire life lavishly. Yet you insist on sticking around here; do you think I don’t know what you’re up to? Sienna, don’t try to portray yourself as noble. Simply put, you’re just a high-priced call girl!"
Upon hearing those words, Sienna was completely devastated. Not only did the words hurt her dignity, but they also shattered her last bit of hope for Axel.
Angry, she turned to leave. There was nothing left to say to Mrs. Warren.
Though she was a senior, Sienna couldn’t argue back. As the host of the house, she couldn’t drive a guest away. In that case, the only one who could leave was her!
Seeing Sienna get angry, Mrs. Warren shouted loudly at her back, "If you know what’s good for you, you’d better move out today and never dream of stepping into my Warren family’s door! Don’t even think about it!"
