Just like he loathes Sienna Quinn, he would definitely make her get rid of this child.
But now things have changed; Sienna holds significant weight in his heart. If Landon Lawson had ever thought he would fall in love with this woman, he would have treated her well from the start and never hurt her.
Looking at the woman before him, he opened and closed his mouth several tis, wanting to explain but failing to do so. Chase Orwell wished he could tell her his true feelings, but thinking of everything he did to Lana Lamb five years ago made him realize how excessive he had been, never considering this woman’s inner world, only his own thoughts.
Now, everything Sienna Quinn does to him is well-deserved retribution.
"Since you don’t want this child, what does this child have to do with you? This is the child I gave birth to, so it’s mine. Why are you still fighting for custody? Do you think you’re qualified?"
As Sienna spoke, she beca increasingly agitated, her voice growing sharper.
The words pierced Chase Orwell’s eardrums, making Sienna’s face flush red.
Landon Lawson lowered his eyes. Usually cold and indifferent, this ti he found himself unable to say anything in rebuttal. He looked up at Sienna, "I admit I treated you poorly five years ago, but it’s no longer five years ago. I want to take care of you and Chloe sincerely."
Landon had never imagined he would have such a strong urge to protect her. These words made Sienna frown slightly, though her heart no longer fluttered. In hindsight, it seed sowhat ironic; she knew how much Landon had hurt her in the past, yet she still harbored so foolish expectations.
Old habits die hard, and that’s probably Landon’s nature.
Having been hurt once, should she allow herself to be hurt a second ti? To co back to life once doesn’t an one can do so repeatedly.
Sienna took a deep breath, casting aside all the complicated emotions. n are all pigs; she just had to protect Evan Quinn.
"I’ve been after you for ten years, unwavering since we were young, but all you’ve brought is hurt. I won’t hand Chloe’s custody to soone who once wanted him dead. How could I trust you?"
Soone who wanted him dead... these five words struck Landon’s chest hard, making it difficult for him to breathe, almost suffocating him.
He sat up, panting heavily, trying to appear as normal as possible.
"I... I won’t fight you for Chloe’s custody anymore."
Those words from Sienna left Landon speechless; all his previous righteousness vanished without a trace, dissipating into thin air.
Sienna suddenly stood up; this was the statent she wanted today.
"In that case, let’s not et again in the future."
"Wait!" Seeing Sienna about to leave, Landon hurriedly stopped her.
Sienna, with her uninjured hand, picked up her bag, coldly looking at Landon, wondering what more he wanted to do.
Landon’s gaze landed on Sienna, "Is your hand... getting better?"
"Thanks to your so-called sister, it seems I won’t be able to write from today on. I’m starting to wonder if it was President Lawson’s deliberate move to suppress the Yates Group and not let us compete with you." Sienna smirked mockingly.
"I think you may have misunderstood Vera. Even if Vera accidentally scratched you, it wasn’t on purpose." Landon spoke slowly.
Sienna’s heart turned cold. An accident? How could there be so many accidents?
"You’re still defending her!"
"I’m not..." The man’s voice was weak. It was the first ti in his life he spoke so unconfidently, now having lost his standing in front of Sienna.
Sienna was too lazy to respond to him anymore, coldly saying, "If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving."
"I won’t fight you for Chloe’s custody anymore, but I hope you can let see Chloe. I am still his father, and from our interactions these days, you can see he still likes and wants a father of his own very much."
Sienna stood there dazed; what Landon said was true. Although Evan Quinn was very angry yesterday, anyone could see it was because he cared too much, which led to disappointnt.
Even as his mother, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t change the position Landon held in Evan’s heart. Moreover, Evan is just a little boy; it’s quite normal for him.
"Even for Chloe’s upbringing, we as adults shouldn’t let our personal grievances burden the child," Landon finally continued, seeing Sienna’s hesitation.
Sienna’s eyes flickered; she knew Landon had a point. How could she not understand that? If it weren’t for this matter, how could she have let Landon et Evan in the first place?
Sienna pursed her lips, images of Sienna and Evan relying on each other all these years flashed through her mind. She suddenly looked towards the hallway and said, "Fine, I’ll agree."
Hearing Sienna’s agreent, Landon was beyond happy. To even imagine living with his son delighted him imnsely.
Since Sienna and Landon ca to an understanding, Landon paid more attention to Evan, constantly ssaging him.
Evan and Sean Carter were sitting at ho playing computer gas, fully imrsed in it, when the phone buzzed. Sean picked up the phone from the sofa, handing it to Evan, "How co so many people are looking for you, little guy? Don’t tell you’ve got a girlfriend in kindergarten."
"Do you think I’m that unserious? I won’t have a girlfriend until my career is established." Evan lifted his head proudly, speaking seriously. Seeing this small child, Sean burst out laughing, but when he glanced at Evan’s phone, his eyebrows furrowed as it showed: disappointed daddy.
Seeing the caller ID, Evan mumbled a few words of displeasure and then hung up the call.
"Why didn’t you answer the call?"
"Because I didn’t want to, Uncle Sean. Let’s continue playing the ga." Seeing Evan ignoring the call caught Sean’s attention. Sothing must be going on, sothing he wasn’t aware of.
After they finished the match, Sean held Evan in his arms and asked, "How did your mommy hurt her hand? Was it a woman?"
"Who else could it be? It’s that drama queen actress, Vera Yates."
