Chapter 426: 426. Zhiyang Lake

The Sumr Palace was established by the side of Zhiyang Lake in Chang’an, less than ten miles from Li Mountain where the Mausoleum of the First Emperor is located.

Everyone knew what the Empress Dowager was up to, which was none other than eyeing the Mausoleum of the First Emperor. However, people didn’t have high hopes.

The Mausoleum of the First Emperor had existed for over two thousand years, and who didn’t know that it housed countless treasures beneath it? Those who coveted the treasures were as nurous as carps crossing the river.

They entered with full confidence, seeking their fortunes, only to end up without a grave to be buried in, vanishing from the long river of history.

Historical records showed that the first to explore the Mausoleum of the First Emperor was Xiang Yu.

He led an invincible army of 300,000 into the Underground Palace. After spending three days inside, only five people, including Xiang Yu himself, managed to escape, with all the rest perishing.

Such a tragic lesson, but there were still those who did not heed the warning. The second to preach by the example was Huang Chao at the end of the Tang Dynasty.

After seizing Chang’an, he took 200,000 soldiers to retrace the steps of his predecessor Xiang Yu and boldly entered the Mausoleum of the First Emperor… only for less than ten n to escape in disarray three days later.

Both these n were among the most exceptional experts at the Golden Body Level and led hundreds of thousands down, but only a handful survived, and they didn’t manage to gain any benefits either.

Since then, the Mausoleum Underground Palace beca notorious as a place of certain death, and no one else dared to tamper with it.

The actions of the Empress Dowager were not looked upon favorably either, but the commotion she caused was too imnse to ignore.

The terrifying giant eye that spanned the sky was witnessed by countless powerful beings across the globe.

All vampires, especially those at the King Level, seeing this scene, knelt down and prayed fervently.

So human race experts, particularly “Spirit Cultivators,” their expressions turned extrely unsightly at once.

The Izumo, who had infiltrated the Shun Dynasty for decades, were the first to receive detailed information.

The matter was of great importance, and Rihachiro Sakanishi, a Lieutenant General at the Army General Staff, personally took the telegraph to see the Emperor.

Passing through an ancient and lush forest of green pines and cypresses, Rihachiro Sakanishi t with His Majesty at Kanbaku Pavilion.

Emperor Kazuhito was still wearing the gold mask engraved with cloud patterns, resembling a Tengu, silently gazing in the direction of the Shun Dynasty.

Rihachiro Sakanishi perford the kneeling salute with his forehead touching the ground, then presented the telegraph:

“Your Majesty, an urgent ssage from the Shun Dynasty. The recent activities of the Guiyi God are related to the Empress Dowager of the Shun Dynasty, and this woman has entered the Mausoleum of the First Emperor through unique ans!”

Emperor Kazuhito remained still, saying leisurely, “You have done well in integrating the intelligence departnt, obtaining the information within an hour.”

Seeing the Emperor’s deanor as if he already had prior knowledge, Rihachiro Sakanishi exclaid admiringly, “It seems Your Majesty had received the information beforehand, I have made a fool of myself.”

He wasn’t too surprised, knowing that the Emperor must have his own secretive thods.

At that mont, Emperor Kazuhito suddenly asked, “What do you think we should do about this matter, Sakanishi? There are high-ranking military officials who suggest that I personally command the army to conquer the Shun Dynasty.”

“I would not advise you to do so!” Rihachiro Sakanishi said solemnly:

“Although the Shun Dynasty is already in a state of de facto fragntation, the mont we apply heavy-handed tactics, the opposition will unite against a common enemy. Moreover, if you personally take action, Western countries will not sit idly by as we smoothly annex the Shun Dynasty.

Hence, my suggestion is to proceed slowly and thodically, to swallow this behemoth piece by piece. I have already established contact with Yuan Kaisheng, the Governor of Zhili in the Shun Dynasty. As a man of ambition, he can be useful to us in Izumo, inciting complete chaos within the Shun Dynasty.”

Emperor Kazuhito smiled and said, “Not a bad idea, you are very dedicated, go ahead and do it.”

Rihachiro Sakanishi nodded deeply, then asked, “As for the Empress Dowager of the Shun Dynasty, should we send experts to enter the Mausoleum of the First Emperor?”

Turning around, Emperor Kazuhito revealed a strange smile, “No need, they won’t be able to gain anything anyway.”

Chang’an, Zhiyang Lake.

This lake, located on the west side of Li Mountain, was, according to legend, where Lady Li Yuan, wife of Emperor Gaozu of Tang, gave birth to her son, the great Li Yuanba.

Gazing from a high point, one could see the lake’s erald waters shimring, with tall mountains on both sides. The lake nestled between them, like a mirror inlaid on the mountain’s waist.

The Empress Dowager was adept at choosing locations; the Sumr Palace was built right here, incorporating the entire Zhiyang Lake and the surrounding mountains into the garden, transforming them into a picturesque landscape.

The halls and pavilions were exquisitely beautiful, with mountains and rivers winding around them, truly magnificent in spirit.

However, at this mont, the most eye-catching feature was a green vortex-shaped light gate in the center of Zhiyang Lake; it was this thing that transported the Empress Dowager and Zhang Yunshu and others away.

At this point in ti, the area around Zhiyang Lake was bustling.

All the well-known forces of the Shun Dynasty had sent representatives, divided into several groups, each surrounding a Golden Body Level powerhouse.

The Imperial Court side had Zhang Wenda, Zeng Bohan, and Yuan Kaisheng;

While the martial artists from the jianghu who ca were—the Joyful Bodhisattva and the Golden Lotus Sect’s Lin ngsheng.

A total of five Golden Body Level powerhouses had arrived at the scene, creating quite an imposing spectacle! Nurous Martial Artists of the Blood-Exchange and marrow cleansing levels didn’t even dare to breathe too loudly.

Everyone surrounded the light gate, hesitating to move forward.

Murmurs filled the air:

“The Empress Dowager has most likely entered the Mausoleum of the First Emperor through this gate!”

“Nine tis out of ten, that’s the case; otherwise, why would she have built the Sumr Palace so close to the Mausoleum of the First Emperor.”

“But the Mausoleum of the First Emperor is no benign place; look, even the Great Grandmasters dare not enter…”

The five Golden Body Level powerhouses glanced at each other, none making a move, instead, all wore a hint of wariness.

The three powerhouses from the Imperial Court were all Martial Golden Bodies, with their Spirit Refinent Realm only as stable as usual.

However, the Joyful Bodhisattva and Lin ngsheng, who were outside the temple halls, were the opposite. Their Martial Dao Realm was only at the leak-proof level, but they were Spirit Refining Manifest Holiness powerhouses.

Normally, the official stance would be to swiftly eliminate these leaders of sects who attained Divine Manifestation in Spirit Refinent, as they all had the potential to rebel.

But the Shun Dynasty was already a dynasty in na only, and for the sake of the Qinling Underground Palace, this group could still barely cooperate.

Each, however, had their own sches.

~~~~~~~~~~
Lin ngsheng quietly communicated to the Joyful Bodhisattva through ntal transmission:
[Joyful Bodhisattva, although the three Golden Bodies from the Imperial Court have their differences, they are after all officials within the sa temple halls and are very likely to join forces. We are weak by comparison, so why not cooperate sincerely!]
The Joyful Bodhisattva blinked and said, [Ah, Mr. Lin~ Of course, this lady is more than willing. Today, I will follow your lead in everything. Whatever you want, just say the word~]
At this mont, even with Lin ngsheng’s Divine Manifestation realm, he felt a surge of heat all over his body, yearning to ravage the beauty before him.
He couldn’t help but inwardly exclaim: This seductress is trouble! She can arouse the innate desires of n and won! But this is also good, as the three Martial Golden Bodies from the Imperial Court must be greatly restrained by it!
Zhang Wenda, Zeng Bohan, and Yuan Kaisheng were also communicating via the transmission of True Qi.
Zhang Wenda stroked his beard and said, [I, for one, am not concerned with the treasures in the Mausoleum of the First Emperor, but we must rescue His Majesty. A day without a sun is unthinkable, as is a country without its Emperor.]
Zeng Bohan sneered, [If you miss the Emperor so much, why not go down and save him yourself? I assure you I won’t compete with you for that.]
Zhang Wenda smiled without replying, the Emperor Yong’an, held hostage by the Empress Dowager, had a unique political significance, and it was essential to have him in his own hands.
In the future, whether it be constitutional monarchy or a presidential system, he would be able to deal with it comfortably.
Yuan Kaisheng secretly despised Zhang Wenda: [This petty man, Zhang Wenda, is ambitious but boastful, rely seeking vain glory. He just wants to play the ga of controlling princes by holding the Emperor, yet he does not have the courage to storm the Underground Palace himself;]
Amidst the chaos, a rapid sound of breaking through the air ca from above, and one could see three giant Spiritual Sparrowhawks, with long trails of clouds following them, majestically flying in.
Without a doubt, the owner of these Spirit Birds capable of the Blood-Exchange was none other than the newly risen Lu Yao.
The expressions of the crowd turned solemn! The actions of Lu Yao in recent days made it clear he was not soone to be trifilled with!
