Chapter 61: One Trick to Fool Everyone
“Geufk!” The large-bodied man wriggled from discomfort and woke up with a start, alerting the two won in his arms to wake up too. He reflexively touched his nose, grabbing hold of whatever had inconvenienced him, pulling it out to notice that it was a wick, created by rolling a couple of strands of thread.
“How did sothing like this make way into my nose?” He wondered in confusion, looking at the eyes of the two won to see that they were red, a sign of having been woken up abruptly from sleep. Upon determining that it wasn’t a prank played by them, he was confused even more.
But, as he looked around, he was unable to find anything or anyone that might have been the cause, sighing as he attributed it to the wind, throwing the wick to the side as laid down on the beg, wrapping his arms around the two won, “Co, let’s sleep.”
“Don’t get up so abruptly next ti. You’re like a bear! What if you break our arms as a result?” One of the won chided him and wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug, using him as a body pillow as she quickly fell asleep.
As for the other won, she had already fallen asleep, drooling even. As for the large-bodied man, he stared at their faces for a mont, noticing his eyes droop slowly as he beca sleepy. Slowly, he closed his eyes, hearing a gentle whisper, “Is it comfortable?”
“Of course, it is…” The question arrived so naturally that he replied unconsciously, suddenly noticing sothing amiss as he got up with a start, turning around as he noticed a figure standing politely in place, sporting a gentle smile.
The large-bodied man began to sweat imdiately, as even though he saw Compass Carburettor standing before him, he was unable to feel the other party’s presence. It was as if he was staring at a ghost, a mysterious entity that had arrived to haunt him.
And upon seeing the drop-dead handso visage of Compass Carburettor, the large-bodied man was imdiately assured that the one before him was a mysterious spiritual entity of the sort. But even then, he asked, only now realising that his voice was stamring, “W-Who are you? How did you co here?”
“Well…” Compass Carburettor patted his cheek slowly, hearing the sounds of a flurry of footsteps as he said, “I was roaming through the forest. But, those two people at the front summoned and paid the price for doing so. Since I was already here, I decided to visit the leader of this stronghold.”
“What…do you want from ?” The large-bodied man frowned, asking as his eyes remain transfixed on the other party while the two won beside him slowly inched their hands through the pillow, touching the Armants hidden within as they were about to pull them out when Compass Carburettor made eye contact, causing them to shudder as it seed like he had seen right through them.
“Well, I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” He smiled, gently pointing his index finger towards one of the won, “If you wish to face the wrath of the Secret Society’s Black Night, feel free to use the Armant.”
“It’s fine, stop.” The large-bodied man gently patted them, causing them to retract their hands as he looked at Compass Carburettor, “Black Night, was it? Please state the reason you decided to intrude my abode.”
“Well…” Compass Carburettor had just begun to speak when the bandits from the nearby room rushed in, noticing his presence as they imdiately intended to attack him. One of them was just about to activate his Armant and impale Compass Carburettor when his foe smiled at him.
Suddenly, there was a gaping hole in the bandit’s head, allowing the person standing behind him to see Compass Carburettor’s face clearly through the hole. As the attention of everyone was on his face, automatically drawn over by his handso visage, and due to the fact that there wasn’t any weapon in his hand, they hadn’t noticed his actions.
It allowed Compass Carburettor to condense his gun in his hand at a tilted angle and use his little finger to press the trigger. As the gun had zero recoils, he could perform such an action. It happened in an instant, from the appearance to the gun, to his pressing of the trigger, and its disappearance.
And in the eyes of the bandits, it seed like Compass Carburettor caused a hole to form in the face of a bandit just by staring at him. It was impossibly terrifying to the extent the bandits wished to flee. After all, what they faced went beyond their scope of common sense.
Compass Carburettor then slowly turned his head, noticing the nurous eyes in the place follow his head’s movent as he looked at another bandit, causing the other party’s face to blow up, now also sporting a hole through which the back of his head was visible.
As he looked around slowly, the bandits flinched, wishing to dodge his line of sight when Compass Carburettor smirked, “It was you who had summoned . And, if you don’t pay the price, everyone would follow suit.”
“What price do you need?” The large-bodied man shielded his two won behind him, asking while his body trembled like a leaf caught in a storm, realising that the entity before him could very well be one of the mysterious spirits that had been said to live deep in the most inhabited forests, “Please tell us, oh great spirit.”
“It’s nothing much,” Compass Carburettor smiled, “Every dawn, everyone here must offer a prayer and then collectively shed so blood, enough to dye this item crimson. If you do that for a year, my thirst would be appeased. Otherwise, I’ll have to kill everyone here.”
Saying his piece, he threw his logo towards the large-bodied man, “Well, I’m a spirit of the night. And frankly speaking, I don’t kill when I’m given proper offerings. In fact, I’m an advocator of peace. If you give offerings daily for a year and not kill even a single human during this period, I’ll appear before you once again.”
“And this ti, I’ll grant you a wish.” Smiling, Compass Carburettor began to walk through the crowd, watching them part way in a hurry so as to avoid making eye contact with him.
“Can we wish for anything?” The large-bodied man suddenly asked.
“As long as it’s related to the realm of the night.” Saying his piece, Compass Carburettor disappeared into the thicket of the night.
Only after his figure vanished did the bandits look at their hands, noticing the goosebumps that had ford on it. The goosebumps only disappeared with the first rays of the morning sun.
