"That was good..." she smiled and said, and I instinctively took a step back.

I know she's supposed to be a bitch from the ga, but what?!

How can a so-called pure heroine say sothing so... perverse after almost getting strangled to death?!

Don't tell this was her plan from the start?!

I an, yes, I managed to overpower her due to so advantages from the blessing and my ether being stronger than her mana.

But she's supposed to be a Genesis Level 6 when she enters the academy—sa as the protagonist.

So, she should at least put up a fight! No, she should be able to overpower if she really tried.

Heck!

She wasn't even trying at all!

She just made it seem that way, but now...

...I REALIZED IT.

Sothing is wrong with her.

But I can't tell what.

The mont she realized who I was, it was like she didn't care about my threats of killing her.

No, she didn't care at all.

"What are you thinking so hard about?" she asked. I noticed her trying to stand on her feet.

I stomped the ground, and the area where my foot landed froze solid, spreading forward until her feet were trapped in ice.

"Phoenix Bloodline," she muttered, and suddenly the ice lted. I manifested two frosted swords, realizing the situation might be a bit more problematic than I initially thought.

"Why are you acting like you know ?" I asked, holding both swords at the ready. I could hear soone shouting her na in the distance.

Great. That fucking simp is at it again.

"But I do... well, I don't," she said with a sly smirk that might've been cute if I could unsee what she had just done a mont ago. "I just wanted to test sothing out. I've wanted to since the day at the guild."

"Test what out?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.

Her grin widened, and before I could react, she was upon again—this ti too fast to trace!

Luckily, my blessing kicked in just before she could reach , allowing to redirect my sword in a way that would impale her if she continued at that speed.

"Tsk," she clicked her tongue, hopping back at the last second.

"How are you doing this?"

"Cilla!" I heard the voice again, closer this ti.

"Tsk," she clicked her tongue in annoyance and suddenly manifested a strange-looking relic. All at once, the surroundings turned dark.

"What the fuck did you just do?!" I demanded.

"I just gave us more ti to talk and made sure you wouldn't escape," she laughed. A spear materialized in her hand, followed by lances of fire that began revolving around her.

"What do you want?" I asked, realizing I was now at a disadvantage.

"Nothing much. I just want you," she said, pointing the spear at .

"?"

"I want to know what makes you different," she said, blurring forward once again.

Damn it!

I jumped back, barely able to keep up with her speed. My body couldn't match her at this level.

CLINK!

I swung my sword just in ti to parry the blade of her spear.

"How are you doing this?" she asked again. Three lances of fire shot at .

"You're clearly a Genesis Level 1, yet you're able to counter my attacks. How?" she asked, her grin widening like a child who had just gotten their hands on a long-coveted toy.

I stretched out my arm, and a massive wall of ice rose before . But before I could lower my arm, a kick landed squarely on my waist, sending flying into the air. I hit the ground hard, rolling to a stop.

Damn it.

It seems at this level, I can't afford to lose eye contact with my opponent, or the blessing won't assist .

Looking up, I saw a barrage of fire lances raining down from the sky.

Sigh.

I sprang to my feet and rushed toward her. Those lances wouldn't hurt her, so her position was the safest place to be.

I manifested ice pikes and shot them toward her. She predictably summoned a wall of fla to lt them, but what she didn't know was that those pikes weren't made of ordinary mana—they were a product of ether.

"Argh!" she cried as I closed the distance. I didn't give her a mont to catch her breath. My advantage was fleeting.

The fiery lances had already reached ground level, forcing to manifest a large ice shield over my head to avoid taking damage. Reaching Cilla, who was now clearly in pain, I landed a solid punch squarely on her face, sending her collapsing to the ground. Without hesitation, I infused a huge amount of ether into my next attack and froze her in solid ice.

I left her head exposed so she wouldn't suffocate.

"Why the fuck are you even attacking ?" I asked, glaring at her. It was obvious she wasn't trying to kill ; there was no killing intent behind her attacks. So why the hell was she doing this? Psychos don't need reasons to be psychos, sure, but there should at least be an endpoint—an aim.

"I told you," she said, and I noticed the ice around her starting to boil.

Crap!

What an annoying bloodline ability.

It's even stronger since it's her bloodline and not her quirk.

Does she even have a quirk?

"I just want to know what makes you different," she said with a grin.

I had punched her so many tis that anyone could tell at a glance how much damage her pretty face had taken, but that grin still remained!

I've said it before: masochists are the worst type of people to torture.

"Makes different in what way?" I asked, rubbing my temple as I reinforced the ice with more frost. No way was I letting her get out of this. The only reason she hadn't broken free from the ice shell was because it was harder than normal conjured ice due to its etheric origin.

I'd use that to my advantage.

I could already feel my mana—no, I think it's better to say ether pool—running critically low.

The rate at which she expends mana is just ridiculous. She's a literal monster. I could bet all my money that if she even tried, I'd be toast.

I placed my sword against her neck and drew a bit of blood, but that grin remained.

Okay.

She's hopeless.

"Since I was little, I had this ability," she said, glancing upwards as though recalling sothing. "It wasn't sothing flashy like an offensive or defensive ability. It was a blessing, more of a passive skill," she continued, and I began piecing things together.

Wait.

Is that why she's a heroine in the first place? She just seduces the hero, and voilà, she's automatically a heroine.

I an, I just don't see why the devs of the ga made certain people heroes and heroines to begin with.

Take Angelina, for example.

A psycho.

There's no other word to describe her. She's a hopeless psycho, more dangerous than most villainesses, so why was she made a heroine?!

Is it because of that nasty bloodline ability of hers?

Maybe she used that ability on the protagonist to make him fall for her, and boom—instant heroine status.

That train of thought feels flawed, but for so reason, it also feels like I'm finally onto sothing.

Just look at this crazy masochist bearing the title of a heroine, while soone as kind-hearted and lovable as Lily is a villainess!

What were the devs even thinking when they ca up with this ss?!

"I… I never needed to do much. I just needed to be close to soone, and they'd feel this overwhelming need to protect . Most of the ti, they'd fall hopelessly in love," she said, her voice softening. "Over ti, I realized those feelings weren't real—the care, the love—it was all forced. But as ti went by, I stopped caring. In fact, I even ca to enjoy it. No one could say no to . It was just impossible. But then..."

She trailed off, and I realized what she was going to say next.

'Alright, why do I feel like I just raised another death flag?'
