Chapter 412: Chapter 409 – The Journey of Three Girls

The next morning, while Nocture’s black mist still thickly and coldly enveloped the city, Sylvia, Stacia, and Alicia were already prepared to depart.

That morning the castle felt quieter than usual. The new residents who had just joined were still busy settling into their hos on the outskirts of the city, while zombie troops patrolled with steady, silent steps. In the wide backyard of the castle, a simple horse-drawn carriage was already waiting under the faint red light of dawn.

It was not a luxurious carriage normally used by nobles or wealthy rchants. This was a mid-to-low-class rchant carriage dark, weathered wood crusted with dirt, iron wheels slightly rusted in so places, and a faded canvas cover worn by years of wind and rain. However, the two zombie horses pulling it were clearly no ordinary horses.

The two zombie horses stood calmly with proud postures. Their pitch-black coats glead like those of the finest thoroughbreds, their muscles strong, proportional, and appearing healthy. Only their slowly glowing red eyes and the faint aura of death marked them as Sylvia’s creations. Their stamina was limitless. They could run for days without tiring, and they didn’t even need to eat or drink as long as their queen’s orders remained active. Their intelligence also far surpassed normal horses with just a single ntal command from Sylvia, they already knew when to turn, stop, or pick up speed.

Sylvia stood in front of the carriage, a simple gray rchant robe already covering her black mantle. Her long hair was tied loosely behind her, partially hidden under a hood that made her cold face look ordinary. Beside her, Stacia and Alicia were also ready, dressed just as simply.

Stacia opened her grimoire wide. The ancient pages rustled softly like dry leaves rubbing together. "Soul Illusion: Human Form."

A soft silver-purple light glowed gently around the three of them, wrapping their bodies like thin cocoons of light. Slowly, their appearances changed.

Sylvia now looked like a human girl in her early twenties with long black hair flowing like dark silk. Her face remained beautiful, but the cold and deadly aura was successfully hidden, giving the impression of a calm, ordinary young woman.

Stacia had soft silver-gray hair that fell all the way to her waist, giving her an elegant yet simple look, like a village girl who loved to read.

Alicia, whose body had previously been transparent like a spirit, now possessed a fully human form. Her skin was smooth and pale white, her face beautiful with soft lines, and her long silver hair shimred like moonlight. For the first ti, she had real physical weight.

Alicia slowly raised her hand, feeling the new sensation. She took one step, then stumbled slightly on the flat ground. "This... feels so strange," she murmured in a soft voice that was still slightly cold. "I was used to floating without any burden. Now every step feels... heavy. There’s friction, and I have to maintain balance."

Stacia chuckled softly as she closed her grimoire. "You’ll get used to it, Alicia. The spell will last as long as we need it, but you really do have to relearn how to walk. Try not to trip in front of other people later. That would be very suspicious."

Sylvia nodded slowly, pulling her hood lower. "The more ordinary we look, the safer we’ll be. We are no longer the Queen of Death and her two sisters. We are just three rchant girls on a long-distance trading journey."

The three of them began loading supplies into the carriage. Sacks of dried spices, ordinary wool cloth, several bottles of cheap perfu, and small artifacts deliberately made to look plain so they wouldn’t attract attention. Everything was neatly arranged so the carriage looked fully loaded but not suspicious like a small rchant cart trying to earn a living.

Sylvia climbed onto the driver’s seat at the front. Although it wasn’t necessary since the two zombie horses were extrely intelligent and only needed one ntal command from her, she still held the reins casually to maintain appearances. Stacia and Alicia climbed into the carriage and sat on the wooden benches that had been cushioned with thick padding and enchanted with shock-dampening magic by Stacia.

"Let’s go," Sylvia said softly.

The zombie horses moved forward with calm steps clop... clop... clop.... The carriage swayed gently as it left the castle backyard, passed through Nocture’s main gate, and headed out onto the highway leading away from the city. The shadow zombie guards only nodded respectfully in silence as the carriage passed, as if seeing ordinary rchants.

Inside the carriage, Stacia imdiately lounged comfortably on the long bench. She took out a thin novel from her bag and began reading leisurely, as if on a casual vacation trip. "Finally, I can read again without political disturbances or dragon roars," she muttered while turning a page.

Alicia sat across from her, still trying to adjust to her new human body. She moved her fingers one by one, touched her warm cheek, then tried standing and taking small steps inside the moving carriage. Every step felt strange; there was the weight of her body, the friction of her soles against the wooden floor, and balance that had to be constantly maintained. "I feel... so slow," she said softly. "Before, I could float through walls or glide through the air. Now I have to open the door first before going out."

Stacia laughed lightly without lifting her eyes from her novel. "That’s good for you, Alicia. You’ve been too comfortable for too long with your unbound spirit body. Now you can experience what ordinary humans feel. Consider it training."

At the front, Sylvia held the reins casually. The two zombie horses walked with steady, fast steps, passing through the dark forest on the edge of Nocture. Their red eyes glowed faintly, but from a distance they only looked like the normal gleam on black horses. The carriage swayed gently on the uneven dirt road, but thanks to Stacia’s shock-dampening magic, the jolts were almost unnoticeable.

The morning wind blew gently, carrying the scent of wet leaves, damp soil, and a faint mossy sll from the forest. The sky was still the characteristic grayish-purple of Nocture, but the farther they moved away from the city, the black mist gradually thinned, replaced by faint red light seeping through the trees.

Sylvia glanced back briefly, her voice soft but clear inside the carriage. "We’ll head to the northern mountains first. There’s a small town called Eldridge that’s comfortable enough for a temporary stay. It’s neutral, many rchants pass through, and rarely does anyone ask too many questions."

Stacia nodded from inside the carriage without lifting her head from her novel. "I agree. Eldridge has a decent small library for a border town. Maybe I can find sothing useful there."

Alicia finally sat back down, gripping the edge of the wooden bench tightly. "I... will try not to be a burden. This body still feels very foreign, but I can learn quickly. Just give

a few days."

The carriage continued onward. In the distance, a faint, sad roar from Noir could be heard once a long, sorrowful cry because his queen had left. Sylvia only smiled faintly and didn’t look back. She knew Noir would be fine with Velthya and Zark.

The three of them now truly looked like ordinary rchant girls on a long-distance trading journey. No one could possibly guess that inside this simple wooden carriage traveled the Queen of Death along with her two most loyal sisters.

Behind them, Nocture grew smaller on the horizon, its black mist like a blanket slowly being left behind. Ahead, the long, winding dirt road stretched out, full of hidden dangers and unexpected opportunities.

Sylvia gently pulled the reins, giving a ntal command for the zombie horses to increase their pace. The carriage moved faster along the road that began to slope gently upward. The wind grew stronger, carrying the increasingly wild scent of the forest.

Stacia closed her novel for a mont and looked out the small carriage window. "Are you sure this is the right move, Sylvia? Leaving Nocture at a ti like this... a lot could happen."

Sylvia answered without turning around. "That’s exactly why we have to go. Nocture is now strong enough to stand on its own. The three of us need even greater power. Power that cannot be gained just by sitting in the castle."

Alicia nodded slowly, her silver eyes gazing at the gray sky. "I agree. The threat from the dinsional rifts is becoming more real. We need sothing more than just an undead army."

The journey to increase their strength had truly begun.

And the world that was still trembling from Nocture’s brutal actions over the past few days had no idea that their queen was leaving the city in an ordinary rchant carriage, searching for greater power beyond the vast horizon.

The mist grew thinner. The road stretched ever longer.
