Lin frowned. Even though he knew Silia would most likely enter the academy, he still frowned slightly out of surprise. He looked around and indeed saw a beautiful blonde girl with white hair and violet eyes standing near the wall. She was speaking with other equally beautiful girls and occasionally nodding to them.

Maybe it was because she was being stared at a lot, or maybe because she didn’t want any rumors about herself, but she didn’t turn toward Lin — though she had likely already noticed his gaze.

"Is it rare for you to stare at a pretty girl, or is this an exception?" Egro noticed Lin’s intense gaze at Silia and smirked.

"No. She’s the sa as the others. It’s just that she’s interesting because of her surna," Lin replied and looked straight into Egro’s eyes.

Egro saw Lin’s gaze — and it wasn’t the kind of look one gives a girl out of interest. It was filled with killing intent, making sparks dance in his eyes. Yes, he wanted to kill Silia!

"U-uh... Isn’t that a little extre? She’s your sister..."

"Yes, I want to kill her."

"...But you just t her, didn’t you? Or have you already had encounters with her? I don’t think you should be eting your sister with a murderous glare..."

Whoosh!

With a sharp motion, Lin drew his katana and slashed it through the air, creating small gusts of wind. He slowly returned it to the sheath and shook his head:

"No. Never. Not in this life. She is the one I want to kill. And yes, nothing will change that. No matter what happens, she’ll die soday, and it would be better if it were by my hand." He turned and walked in the opposite direction so he wouldn’t have to see Silia.

Egro watched Lin’s actions in surprise and then glanced at the surrounding people, who were staring at Lin with shock or horror. He gave an awkward smile and followed Lin.

"Whatever the reason for his desire to kill, he’s revealing more and more of his goal — and also why he doesn’t talk to the Matrix family..."

Once the two had disappeared, Silia looked toward the place where Lin and Egro had stood and frowned.

"What’s wrong, Silia? Were you that surprised by that handso guy’s actions?" one of the girls next to her asked.

"No-no, maybe she was more surprised by the one with the glasses," another one chid in.

Silia sighed and replied:

"No. It’s just that his movents were quite fast, that’s what surprised a little."

"So you didn’t like him?"

"Of course she didn’t like him. Did you see the way he looked at her?.. He looked like he could pounce on her at any mont and do... and do things... like... like... yeah..."

"..."

...

Lin and Egro sat down on one of the benches and began watching the people while discussing the academy:

"After entering the academy, there are lots of different departnts you’ll have to choose from. You can pick several, but usually, people choose one or two and stay with them until graduation."

"And the education typically lasts about a year, so we’ll be graduating next year." Egro slowly explained everything to Lin.

Lin listened attentively and asked questions:

"A year of study... Is that enough to understand everything? I think if you enroll in the right departnt, it’s possible to learn sothing. But it’s still a bit concerning that the Awakened Academy only lasts a year."

"I think there are several reasons for that."

Egro thought for a mont and began to explain:

"It’s important to understand that the Awakened Academy is completely free. It accepts anyone, regardless of their family status or anything else — as long as you have a Title. So even people who can’t afford to pay can study here for free, and all expenses are covered by the academy."

"And every year, countless new Awakened appear in the world. If the Awakened Academy extended its studies to, say, four years instead of one, it would go bankrupt."

"That’s why the study lasts only a year, and each student is given the freedom to choose what they want to study and what they don’t."

Lin nodded, confirming Egro’s words, and said:

"Then that gives it a new aning. And besides, I didn’t plan to study here for more than a year anyway."

"Haha. That’s just like you," Egro laughed and noticed a rather striking teenager.

He was quite tall, with a posture as straight as a spear. His skin was pale, and his hair was golden — even more golden than Egro’s. But his most distinctive features were his two red eyes, like twin rubies, and an earring in his left ear.

This boy paid no attention to anyone, walking calmly through the hall as the loud sound of his expensive shoes echoed:

Step!.. Step!.. Step!.. Step!..

"That’s... if I rember correctly, that’s Royal Arsafon..." Egro murmured.

"Arsafon... What is he doing in the Awakened Academy, on Matrix family territory? Isn’t he supposed to be with his own? Or is there a specific purpose for his visit?" Lin frowned.

He didn’t expect to see a mber of the Arsafon family here.

"Maybe they sent him to strengthen their alliance? After all, Arsafon and Matrix are two strong allies." Egro guessed and looked at Royal.

"Maybe so, but everything has deeper reasons."

Not wanting to get into it, Lin decided not to discuss the matter. While he didn’t fear the Arsafon family, they weren’t the Matrix — the kind of people who might forgive certain actions. So, for now, it was best to focus on growth. Only once he gained enough strength could he consider such things. But not yet.

Lin and Egro continued sitting and discussing things until they saw yet another unexpected guest.

He had a pale face, and his hair was black. Under his red eyes — like two red stones — were large blue bags, probably ford from many sleepless nights. He wore dark garnts not common in this era, as if trying to appear even more strange.

Egro wanted to say sothing, but Lin was faster:

"Aran Mort... What is he doing here?"

"That, even I don’t know..."

As the two watched Aran closely, he noticed their gaze and looked in their direction.

Their eyes t.

"..."

"..."

Aran gave them a slight smile, then continued walking forward.

Lin frowned.

"He’s dangerous. Very dangerous. When he looked at us, my internal alarms hit their peak."

"Is he really that dangerous? From the outside, he looks more like a deranged scientist..."

"Appearance doesn’t define a person. That could be just a front — in reality, he might be so kind of maniac."

Egro smirked.

"This year is unusual. Quite a lot of people from the Five Families. You and Silia — Matrix. Royal — Arsafon. Aran — Mort. Are Azel and Jade going to show up too?"

"I don’t think so. Aran probably ca to keep an eye on Royal and Silia. The Azel family has no reason to send their people, and the Jades have always been neutral. He should be the last "unusual" figure." Lin analyzed and answered.

Egro nodded and continued observing the crowd until he noticed a rather beautiful black-haired girl with white curls near her temples walking toward them.

It was Yulan.

"Hm? Isn’t that our classmate Yulan?" Egro asked.

Lin quickly turned around and saw Yulan walking toward him with an annoyed expression.

"So this is where you were sitting. I’ve been looking all over for you," Yulan said to Lin, then smiled at Egro.

"Hey, Egro, I beca an Awakened too — just like you and Lin."

"What?"
