??Chapter 953: 952. The Curtain Falls

Chapter 953: 952. The Curtain Falls

The flicker of the movie cast light on her face, revealing a sowhat indifferent expression.

“Not bad, at least it lets

watch up to this point instead of turning around and leaving halfway through,”

Lu Ban comnted.

“That’s good.”

Amber responded, not saying much to Lu Ban, but simply sitting by his side, quietly watching the movie.

Often tis, people don’t need too many words between them. Each doing their own thing, the slight noises they make confirm each other’s presence, and that’s enough to be reassuring.

For every individual, life is always a solitary adventure, and everyone is just passing through.

But there will always be so who can accompany one for a bit longer.

“I have to move forward,”

Amber suddenly said.

Lu Ban looked at her, but the girl didn’t look back, instead staring straight at the movie screen.

As if, by looking back, leaving would beco too hard.

“Mhm,”

Lu Ban responded.

Amber stood up and began to walk slowly towards the exit. After a few steps, she hesitated, as if sothing was bothering her, but ultimately, she clenched her fists and left without looking back.

Lu Ban let out a sigh.

“This movie is actually pretty good,”

a lively voice sprung up from the opposite direction of Amber’s departure.

Lu Ban turned his head to see Baobao squatting on a chair, watching the movie in an inelegant posture. Her eyes sparkled with excitent, like a child filled with expectation.

“Only you would watch a movie like this.”

“What does it matter? As long as the content is good, lying down, leaning over, or even sleeping through it is perfectly fine,”

Baobao said dismissively.

“How can you watch if you fall asleep?”

Lu Ban asked unconsciously.

“Of course, in your dreams. Aren’t we in a dream right now?”

Baobao asserted as if it was obvious.

“True,”

Lu Ban nodded.

“But next ti, I need a role that is more important, like so ultimate weapon girl or an android with the heart of an angel, both beautiful, strong, and tragic,”

Baobao said, her voice as casual as if she were eating a peach.

“You’re asking for a lot,”

Lu Ban thought about it, but agreed nonetheless.

“I’ll see what I can do.”

“Yay!”

Baobao exclaid, climbing down from the chair and standing up.

“Then I’m off. There are still quite a few waiting for you.”

She waved her hand and struck a cool pose.

“You’ve finally finished this movie after all,”

a voice ca from beside Lu Ban. Feng Yu pushed her scattered hair behind her ear, turned her head, and looked at Lu Ban.

“All I could do was this,”

Lu Ban said with a light laugh.

“I really wanted to keep traveling, but it looks like the journey ends here,”

Feng Yu sighed.

“It’s an end, but also a beginning,”

Lu Ban corrected.

“True. It’s just that from now on, I have to go alone,”

Feng Yu said, smiling gently.

“I wonder if I’ll et soone like you on my next journey.”

“I think it’s probably better not to,”

Lu Ban said with a self-deprecating laugh.

“That really is…lonely,”

Feng Yu sighed.

She stared at the movie screen, composed herself, and finally looked back to Lu Ban.

“The movie is really good, and I kind of want to keep watching, but all movies must co to an end eventually. So be it,”

she said, as the movie screen darkened and the entire theater was enveloped in silence. Even the lovers who had been whispering sweet nothings stopped their caresses, captivated by the plot.

After a brief and oppressive scene, the screen brightened again, and Feng Yu, who had been by Lu Ban’s side, was nowhere to be seen. In her place was a petite girl.

“So what use is my role, anyway?”

Qin Tiantian protested with a hint of dissatisfaction.

“To lighten the mood?”

Lu Ban suggested, equally uncertain.

“Are you telling

I don’t have so hidden identity? Like, I’m so blindly foolish deity, or the whole world is just a dream of mine?”

Qin Tiantian questioned.

“That would be too boring, wouldn’t it?”

Lu Ban replied earnestly.

“Not every character has to be so tragically enshed in vengeance. At least when everyone sees you, they can relax, right?”

“And that ans I’m the trap in a horror movie that lulls the audience into a false sense of security, right?”

Qin Tiantian realized afterward.

“Where did you learn all this stuff?”

Lu Ban frowned.

“Forget it, next ti you cast , you better give

a role that’s truly powerful, one with endless twists and turns, a rollercoaster of emotions, heart-wrenching, gut-wrenching!”

Qin Tiantian emphasized.

“That’s going to be a bit challenging.”

Lu Ban stroked his chin.

“I believe you can do it, after all, you are the Director!”

Qin Tiantian patted Lu Ban’s shoulder, nodding with assurance.

Lu Ban wanted to say more, but she’d already vanished.

“It’s about ti for the finale.”

“Indeed.”

Two voices, one left and one right, arose from beside Lu Ban.

He looked over and saw Shia and Cui Siter.

“It’s also ti for the lead roles to make their appearance.”

Lu Ban said.

“Right, it’s a pity I didn’t get to unleash my full potential with so show-stopping scenes at the end.”

Cui Siter scratched his head.

“The lilight doesn’t always have to shine; I think the current situation is just right.”

Shia comnted.

“Thank you for your hard work.”

Lu Ban looked left, then right.

“It was quite fun, being part of this movie.”

Cui Siter rubbed his nose.

“Yeah, I thought it was going to be pretty common, but it turned out to be surprisingly good.”

Shia also reflected, then looked at Lu Ban.

“If there’s ever a chance in the future, be sure to cast us again, hmm, but he should give it so more thought.”

“Why do I need to give it so more thought? I think I perford pretty well.”

Cui Siter protested.

“Everyone did great, everyone did great.”

Lu Ban reassured them. The film was nearing its end, the climax had passed, and the protagonists, after much effort and overcoming all their enemies, were about to drive off into the distance, bathed in the glow of the setting sun.

A truly beautiful ending.

“We should be leaving, too.”

Shia stated.

“I believe that one day, we’ll definitely et again in so corner of this world.”

Cui Siter patted Lu Ban on the shoulder.

“Mhm.”

As the last ray of sunset dipped below the horizon, Lu Ban watched the screen plunge into darkness, the cast list ready to rise.

He saw all the people he had t along the way, standing in front of the movie screen—all with different emotions; so were happy, so lancholic, so laughing heartily, and so sobbing loudly. But they all stood before the movie screen, not moving toward the audience.

They looked at Lu Ban, as if saying their goodbyes.

“The curtain call has arrived.”

Lu Ban declared.

The entire cinema plunged into a silent darkness, as if Silence itself was sound asleep.

Then, the house lights ca on.
