Chapter 791: 790. Dawn_1

Hearing Lu Ban’s words, Scott felt sowhat bewildered.

Chosen by Gods?

Saved this city?

How could he, an ordinary college student, possess those extraordinary powers to fight against these monsters like Lu Ban?

Was there so kind of deviation?

Moreover, if Scott really was soone with great power, why would he be trapped in this cycle, repeatedly suffering and falling into despair?

“Scott, why do all the mbers of the film crew lose their mories, yet you alone can rember everything?”

“Why don’t you lose your sanity after witnessing these strange monsters and the corrupted scenes?”

“Why don’t those monsters attack you, and you can walk safely in Miskatonic, recording all of this with your cara?”

Hearing Lu Ban’s barrage of questioning, Scott furrowed his brows, these things he had taken for granted, but actually, each one was dubious.

Yet he had never considered the reasons behind them.

Why?

“There’s only one answer.”

Lu Ban glanced at the cara in his hands.

“Scott, because all of this is the movie you fild.”

“What… do you an?”

Scott felt mories surging up, yet they were extrely unfamiliar.

He knelt on the ground, his head splitting with pain.

He was Scott, an ordinary college student who had co to Miskatonic to make a movie with his companions, died in an attack by monsters, and had fallen into an endless loop of tornt.

But in another world, in another realm of ti, he was a traveler walking between different worlds, witnessing the rise and fall of the Foreign Domain and the joys and sorrows of its people.

When Scott returned to his long-lost holand, he discovered the mutation that had occurred here. After investigation, he finally understood the extent of the Pollution, but by then it was too late; the Pollution was deeply rooted and could not be reversed overnight.

The entity they wished to summon far exceeded what Scott could resist; even he could hardly preserve himself, with only the outco of mutating into a monster.

At that ti, Scott used his “All-In”.

Luckily, he was successful.

In a world that had lost all hope, where there seed no possibility, Scott seized the sole opportunity.

He extracted the Miskatonic of that ti along with its Pollution, using his power to make a film out of it.

Hence, Miskatonic was preserved, continuing to exist until today.

Scott, however, was afflicted by the Pollution, forever losing his human form.

“This tape is you.”

Lu Ban said.

“You sealed all the Pollution into this tape. And to prevent your own will from being contaminated, you created so clones, letting them enter the movie as characters, searching through the repetitions for a way to save this city.”

Scott turned that period into a ga, seeking a breakthrough by constant trial and error; if he could find it, then he might resolve the Pollution here and let everything beco the past.

If he couldn’t find a way, then the Pollution would only repeat in the world of the movie, unable to affect or interfere with the real world.

Of course, as the followers of the Supre God, the monsters’ Pollution was ultimately not sothing a Chosen by Gods could ward off for long. Under certain circumstances, so of the Pollution would leak out, leading so highly inspired individuals to mistakenly enter this false Miskatonic.

“Now, the Pollution here has been dealt with, tomorrow’s sun will rise as usual, your mission is now complete.”

Lu Ban said.

Scott looked up, his gaze toward Lu Ban.

“Is it really over?”

Scott’s mories were occupying his brain, he felt sowhat sad, yet sowhat relieved.

What saddened him was the fact that he would soon vanish into thin air, with no one to rember him.

What relieved him was that at least his efforts hadn’t been wasted, in the end, he rembered everything.

“Look.”

Lu Ban pointed to the sky.

The stars that didn’t belong to this world gradually dimd, because in the east, the light of dawn erged.

Dawn tinged the clouds with hues of crimson, and the light of the golden sun burst forth from the horizon, dazzling and bright.

This was a sight unseen within the cycles of reincarnation at Miskatonic.

“How wonderful.”

Scott remarked.

The first ray of sunlight descended upon Miskatonic.

Lu Ban reached out and caught the falling cara.

He glanced at the last scene captured by the cara.

It was the birth of the morning sun, filled with hope.

Lu Ban felt the surroundings suddenly beco noisy and bustling.

He looked to the side, where young people were coming and going, holding books and paper coffee cups in their hands, so hurrying towards the antique buildings ahead, while others strolled leisurely, with casual strides. Different though, were the expressions on their faces; so stern and serious, others laughing and cursing, entirely unlike that eerie smile.

The campus square was also clean and tidy, free of dirt and gri except for so fallen leaves, with no splattered flesh and blood, nor the grass and plants that would take root upon touching the ground and grow with the wind, it was truly a normal world.

Lu Ban looked at the statue in the center of the campus square.

The sculpture depicted a scholar, and from the plaque beneath, it was clear that this was a professor who had made significant contributions to Miskatonic University.

In the distance, the sound of fireworks reached him, and Lu Ban looked over to see brilliant fireworks spreading across the sky, accompanied by the faint sound of music.

Turning around, inside the campus, various promotional banners were hanging around, with slogans welcoming everyone to the Miskatonic Film Festival everywhere in sight.

It seed this was the real, Miskatonic Film Festival of the actual world.

Lu Ban held a box of videotapes in his hand, its surface mottled with a multitude of nail scratches.

Perhaps this was the fate of all who were Chosen by Gods.

Lu Ban thought.

When those who had experienced the destruction of many worlds faced a choice, most would probably make the sa decision.

Rather than succumbing to a gradual loss of sanity, eventually falling into madness, dying in so corner of a Foreign Domain, or being corrupted by Pollution and mutated into a monster, it was better to exchange oneself for those sources of Pollution at the end.

Just like Cui Siter, just like this naless Director.

Perhaps, there would co a day for Lu Ban in the future as well.

“It seems you have seen the ending.”

From behind Lu Ban, a voice suddenly erged, he turned around and saw it was Feng Yu, dressed in a long coat and jeans.

“Are you okay?”

Lu Ban frowned slightly and pulled out his phone to check the ssages.

“Can’t say there’s nothing wrong, just ran into a bit of a problem,” Feng Yu said, brushing her hair, disheveled by the cold wind, behind her ear. She pointed in the direction of the school entrance.

“Let’s talk as we walk.”
