Chapter 744: 743. Flag_1

Suddenly, a flash blossod from Shia’s fingertips.

The armored girl swung her right hand accordingly.

From left to right, a series of flashes burst at the crest of the insect swarm, turning the world into a dichotomy of black and white.

Boom boom boom—

Huge explosions appeared among the insects. With each explosion, a whole area of the swarm was completely wiped out, leaving behind a massive void waiting to be filled by other insects.

rely relying on Shia’s power alone, the unstoppable march of the insect swarm hesitated for a mont.

Without hesitation, Shia’s raised right hand was retracted once again.

Another series of black and white flashes, like plowing an already plowed field a second ti, the swarm suffered yet another blow.

This ti, even the gunsmoke that blocked the sunlight was blown away by the blast, scattering in the air.

Sunlight briefly descended upon the land, igniting the foremost insects amidst their rustling movents into flas, causing them to tumble down.

One could see the shrouded watchtower finally revealed; its sturdy structure had collapsed, leaving only ruins.

Although Shia’s attack effectively stopped the insect swarm in front, their advance in other places was hardly affected. If one were to look down from the sky at this mont, one could see the swarm converging towards Sunset Town at the center, gradually encircling it.

At this ti, just over an hour had passed.

Lu Ban pulled out a silver revolver, “Testant”, loaded it with Speech Bullets containing the mumbled words of a great being, and fired several shots at the insect swarm.

The insects hit imdiately contorted and, with their wings vibrating at high speed, spread the song from ancient tis to their kin. In an instant, centered around those insects, groups of them fell from the sky, exploding in madness, deprived of life.

Yet even so, given the vast number of insects, the impact was negligible.

Killing dozens of monsters with a slap is mowing the lawn; killing thousands with a slap when the enemy has even more is torture.

The encircling swarm gradually constricted, and even the radiance of the Blood Moon was about to be obscured.

Just then, a fla erupted from the void, rapidly igniting all the insects it touched. The insects burned swiftly, withered, and turned to ash.

Another bolt of lightning descended from the sky, piercing through the insect swarm’s thick barrier, allowing a smattering of sunlight to leak through, illuminating the watchtower at the top of the bastion.

The earth also began to tremble as stones, as if endowed with their own will, rose to their feet, forming one giant after another. The insects clung to the giants but were quickly knocked away, smashed to pieces.

“This is…”

The sowhat frail Cui Siter looked towards these attacks, which did not co from Shia, but from behind the fortress.

He saw a team occupying the last gap within the near-closed encirclent.

The gap was tiny, just a crack, but that crack simply couldn’t close!

Lu Ban looked over.

True Sight allowed him to accurately capture the people standing on the distant ground at this ti.

Lu Ban did not recognize those people. They wore red and black cloaks over heavy silver Armor, their faces mostly hidden within helts. They held books and long swords, and a flag rose from amongst them bearing thorns and a sword—the banner of the Night Country’s current kingdom.

“Court Mages?”

Shia also noticed the changes here and recognized such an arrangent at a glance.

“It’s the elite troops of the Court Mages…,”

atop Gray Tower, Joester also recognized the origins of this troop.

Among the Court Mages, there were so who specialized in combat, teams composed of Mages known as the Pale Knights. They possessed a wealth of experience in fighting Demonic Beasts, their longswords and books all enhanced with Magic, endowing them with formidable combat capabilities, and their Armor too was Sturdy, magical armor. These Mages were the precursors to the later Mages of Gray Tower, as well as the earliest Proxies. They traversed the lands of the Night Country, battling at the forefront of every Demonic Tide.

But why would they appear here?

Joester felt puzzled.

Then ca multiple bursts of Magic, as the group of heavily armored Mages brutally tore open a gap in the rift.

In the howling Frost winds, Joester heard a voice, enhanced by Magic, coming from that troop of Mages.

“…Joester, The Sixth Pale Knights Corps of the Kingdom, ordered to co and support,”

He heard his own na and felt that the voice sounded familiar. Then, he heard the person say another sentence.

“The teacher wanted

to pass on a ssage, ‘You really are a worry to others.'”

Instantly, Joester understood.

This was the support sent by his own teacher.

Leading them, must be his seniors who had studied alongside him.

He was sowhat distracted, facing that swarm of creatures; a certain will was gradually brewing in Joester’s mind.

The Pale Knights had already assembled together.

“Raise the banners, lift your longswords; now is the ti to use all that you have learned, let these insects know who the real masters are,”

That banner was waved high in the wind; suddenly, as if sensing the threat, countless insects converged into a torrent, rushing towards the troop of Knights.

This overwhelming force was enough to bring down buildings, snap swords, and crush the will of any man.

Thump—

After a brief Silence, the torrent collided head-on with the troop of Pale Knights and suddenly, everything was engulfed, leaving only the flapping of the insect swarm.

Joester’s eyes dimd for a mont, but in the next instant, a ray of light spilled out from the torrent, a warm and stabilizing glow that penetrated the swarm of insects, like a sharp sword tearing through them.

Thump—

In the midst of the loud noise, the insects were blasted apart, a magical barrier constructed that kept the Demonic Beasts at bay, securely protecting the Pale Knights at its center.

The Knights stood together facing the enemy, their backs to the banner; the banner still flying, their armor still spotless, as if nothing in this tainted world could bring them ruin.

anwhile, the Players with their strange and extraordinary items also began influencing the swarm.

So insects suddenly turned into chunks of Stone, smashing into their own kind, others lost their bearings, crashing mindlessly into each other, so insects began sprouting flowers and plants, turning into vegetation, and so had Frost appearing on their bodies, rapidly freezing solid.

The battle between the Players and the Demonic Tide at Sunset Town’s fortress was only truly heating up now.
