Chapter 520: Super Fire Volcano_1

Common office worker Wellington has been quite bothered lately; he and a few colleagues who also witnessed the ecological garden and the little girl inside have now beco a laughingstock to everyone.

In Europe and Arica, if a grown man talks every day about seeing a little girl, he is mostly likely to be warned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and although Wellington hasn’t beco such a despised existence yet, often saying so inexplicable words still makes people keep their distance.

Moreover, Wellington didn’t know if he was influenced by the girl at that ti, but he actually started paying attention to things like the environnt, ecology, and natural history.

He actually went to the library to study on weekends!

And, he was not fighting alone. Through the internet, he found that many people, like him, had accidentally entered an overgrown ecological garden and t a girl with a beautiful smile who then told them about the journey of life.

These people co from all corners of the world, gathered for the sa purpose.

Today is May 1st, Labor Day, a day off.

Wellington doesn’t have to work overti for this holiday that ca about as a result of fighting for workers’ rights; today is genuinely an extra day off.

In the library, Wellington greeted his colleague.

The two of them are currently researching the major extinction event between the Permian and Triassic periods.

According to their findings, in the late Permian period, there was an extinction event where more than 90 percent of life forms were wiped out, such as the trilobites which disappeared at that ti.

The prevalent theory is that one of the main causes of this extinction was the massive volcanic eruptions in the Sichuan and Shu regions and northern Siberia.

Because of the recent climate anomalies in the South Pacific, a huge, long-lasting storm erged in the Equator Doldrums a few years ago, even causing a cruise ship accident that resulted in many casualties.

This year, there was also a volcanic eruption that caused a small nation’s communications to be cut off entirely, with no contact to this day.

So, the two of them felt that perhaps the major extinction events that happened in history might just recur; there’s an old saying in the East, “One can learn from history about the rise and fall,” studying past disasters helps to better survive in the future.

For this reason, they also joined so wilderness survival enthusiasts’ chat channels, but those wilderness survivalists seed different from what they had imagined.

For example, the most frequently discussed topic in the channel is the coming of the zombie apocalypse and how people would survive. There are many who speak actively, clearly big shots, talking at length about constructing bunkers, stocking up on ten years’ worth of food, preparing weapons, and they even share photos and videos.

Wellington couldn’t help but ask in the channel, “I feel that compared to mutant zombies attacking humans, it’s more likely that sothing like a Yellowstone Park supervolcano eruption could happen. If a supervolcano erupted dozens of kiloters away from , how should I survive?”

After he asked his question, the whole channel was silent for over ten seconds.

Then, the big shot typed out a line.

“I think your concern is completely unnecessary, our lives are very peaceful, how could there be a supervolcano eruption? Let’s talk about the matter of zombies surrounding the city instead.”

Seeing this, Wellington did not continue to argue with the other party.

These people don’t understand the power of nature at all!

After studying for a while, Wellington took out his phone to take a break.

After scrolling through a few TikToks, he ca across a short video.

This short video cos from Silent dia, which is Lu Ban’s company, and it’s a trailer.

Wellington has seen Lu Ban’s movies, and his assessnt of this film director is that he’s quite talented but not to his taste.

Just like so classics, Wellington acknowledges that “War and Peace” is an immortal masterpiece, which doesn’t conflict with the fact that he fell asleep after watching it for fifteen minutes.

It’s a matter of his own aesthetic level, not the book’s fault.

Lu Ban’s movies are the sa.

Wellington still likes to watch family-friendly movies—intelligence of the characters be damned—as long as they provide a good laugh.

Lu Ban’s movies, however, are always too heavy.

But to give credit where it’s due, the visual thrills of Lu Ban’s films are formidable, be it the heart-stopping swarms of Demonic Beasts attacking like tidal waves or the towering stormy waves and massive storms above the He Dao sea; these offer an ultimate visual experience.

Through his Bluetooth headset, Wellington heard a voice in the video reminiscent of a news broadcast.

“…this volcanic eruption is expected to impact over ten countries and regions, with further disaster victim statistics currently being compiled…..”

“…the West Coast, struck by a hurricane, suffers severe disasters with over a hundred thousand people displaced. It is understood that international humanitarian aid is en route to the affected areas…”

“…According to current observations, geologists do not rule out the possibility of a supervolcano eruption, says an expert to journalists, noting that the volcano’s last eruption occurred three hundred million years ago and shaped the topography of an entire continent…”

Mixes of news reports in different languages co together to form a world assaulted by natural disasters, using sound alone.

All the while, the video continues with its related news coverage.

A volcano erupts in front of the cara, and enormous volcanic rocks, as light as feathers, are blown into the air, mixed with fierce flas, flying off into the distance.

In the midst of intertwined screams and car horns, the shockwave finally arrives.

Suddenly, it seed as if the caraperson was hit by sothing, sending the lens soaring into the air; one could see rocks in a semi-lted state turning red from the heat, plumting into the city, igniting the originally peaceful world.

Crash——

The cara fell to the ground, revealing only half of the volcano and a panicked, fleeing crowd.

The very next mont, an enormous, fiery boulder hurtles towards the cara, a sense of oppression so intense it felt as if it could spill out of the screen, leaving viewers holding their breath, caught in their throats.

In true monts of terror, people are unable to scream.

Wellington’s hands were stiff, clutching his phone tightly, as he watched the fiery Stone hurling toward him from the screen, hearing nothing but the desperate cries and the piercing sound of explosions in his ears.

Bang——

With the Stone striking the cara, the world plunged into a sea of fire.

Finally, Wellington could let out a long sigh of relief.

Only then does the title of this work appear on the screen.

“Doomsday.”

It was at this mont that Wellington realized what he had been watching was a video, not actual news.

He felt as if he had been there, as if he were among the people fleeing under the volcanic eruption.

The library around him was a picture of peaceful tis; no disaster had struck.

He breathed a sigh of relief and thought to himself.

“What a coincidence? Is this new movie by Lu Ban about a volcanic disaster?”
