However, Yu Huan Shui’s expression suddenly turned terrified, as if he had seen sothing horrifying, flailing about and pointing frantically behind Li Xiaobai.
"Is there sothing behind ?"
Li Xiaobai slightly turned his head, catching a glimpse out of the corner of his eye, and in an instant, everything went pitch black.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself back in the first-floor hall.
He walked to the platform and carefully read the paper with the rules written on it.
"My na is Li Xiaobai. I will show you how to survive in the Illusionary Realm. There are rules here, and we need to read them carefully."
Li Xiaobai felt a bit dazed and reminded himself loudly of his purpose for being there. Yet, inexplicably, the rules seed oddly familiar, and whenever he saw the button on the platform, fragnted mory scenes would flash through his mind—he had already pressed the button before.
"Little junior brother, have you lost your mory?"
"You tried to run away just now, but were sent back. Quickly rember, this isn’t your first ti participating in the Illusionary Realm trial. You’ve gone through this cycle countless tis."
Yang Chen’s voice entered his mind, mixed with a powerful resonance, washing over his head repeatedly.
Li Xiaobai trembled, as mories surged back. He rembered everything. He had acquired the ring, but the ga wasn’t over. Looking at his hands, the ring had already returned to the crystal cover on the platform.
Yang Chen said, "I told you this test wasn’t that simple. It’s a test of the Power of Laws. How could you possibly complete it effortlessly without doing anything? There must be a critical point to break the stalemate, and it must be found."
"Otherwise, you’ll keep going in circles and turn into an idiot."
Yang Chen was very concerned about Li Xiaobai’s situation. The trial had only just begun, and Li Xiaobai’s mory was already in apparent confusion. Without his reminder, the junior brother might have thought it was his first ti in the trial.
If the thod to break the stalemate wasn’t found soon, the junior brother’s mind might indeed turn to mush.
"I need more information. With my wit, there must be soone among these six people who has already figured out the solution, but dares not speak it outright. Observing them and discovering the clues is what should be done now."
Li Xiaobai cald down, certain that with his intelligence, finding the flaw in the cycle was rely a matter of ti. Just because he didn’t know now didn’t an he wouldn’t know in the future. He speculated that a masked man might be silently hinting sothing to him.
"In the first-floor hall, I should be number one. Starting over, and in a few breaths, soone will club from behind."
"Let see who’s attacking ."
Li Xiaobai turned around, just in ti to bump into a masked person erging from behind a wall.
This masked person had five swords printed on him; he was number five.
"The cycle can’t be changed, otherwise the Law of Power will adjust to form a new cycle based on actions breaking the cycle, which ans starting over and wasting more ti finding the solution. In this version of the cycle, I’m supposed to be ambushed by number five. I can’t run nor hide."
Li Xiaobai stood still.
The masked man number five said nothing, holding the Longsword high in his left hand. Seeing Li Xiaobai not moving, a hint of approval appeared in his eyes as the sword hilt suddenly struck Li Xiaobai on the head, knocking him to the ground.
A few minutes later.
Li Xiaobai woke up on the second floor, continuing the previous cycle, conversing with number four, and being killed by number four. He compared the differences between the masked people, aiming to find the most abnormal one, which was the key point to break the cycle.
After several cycles, Li Xiaobai beca number four again.
"Among the masked people I’ve seen, it seems only number five was different. When he saw not dodging, his eyes showed approval."
Li Xiaobai started analyzing. After becoming number four, he had seen all the masked people once.
Yang Chen tily remarked, "Number five indeed understands your intent. When he took you down, he purposely used his left hand to wield the sword and didn’t stab you with it but used the hilt to hit you. That’s quite an unusual move."
"There’s also sothing I don’t understand: if it’s a cycle, and all six people are you, you should cycle from number one to six, then start over. But previously, you clearly reset to number one when you were number four, which ans the cycle ended when you were number four."
"Why is that? Because you wanted to escape?"
Yang Chen’s words enlightened Li Xiaobai, and excitent filled his eyes.
"Exactly. Last ti when I got the ring, I was number four, and the cycle ended there. If I take it again this ti, I’m afraid the result will be the sa. That ans rely taking the ring isn’t correct; it has to be , at the right ti, getting the ring."
"As number four, I’m clearly not in the right ti fra, because the cycle hasn’t ended. I need to cycle to number six, the endpoint of a cycle, to take the ring."
Li Xiaobai finally understood. As number four, if he were to get the ring, this cycle would end, rendering the existence of numbers five and six invalid.
What he needed to do was not to get the ring but first to establish the existence of six people.
"If I’m lucky, this round might just end."
Li Xiaobai descended to the first-floor hall and pressed the button for number four on the platform. At this point, all numbers had been pressed, opening the crystal cover and revealing the ring inside.
Li Xiaobai looked around and said loudly, "You’re here, right? I won’t take the ring, so hurry up and kill ."
From around the corner, the masked person number five erged: "I can only say that I’m worthy of myself; no matter which ti period, wisdom is always so extraordinary."
A Longsword pierced through Li Xiaobai’s chest, blood spilling on the ground.
Then number five discarded the Longsword, awaiting the assault from number six.
...
A few minutes later, a masked person successfully retrieved the blue ring. The surrounding scenery changed drastically, as the pavilion collapsed, streets lted away, replaced by walls that sprang up, forming a new building.
This was a fortress, far grander than the previous pavilion.
Li Xiaobai approached Yu Huan Shui: "Mission accomplished, I’ve broken the Illusionary Realm."
Yu Huan Shui let out a long breath, viewing the previous trial from his buff-filled perspective as a battle between monsters, with Li Xiaobai possessing a certain Law-like trait.
"Little brother, let Yu take a look at the ring on your hand, and appraise it for you, how about that?"
Yu Huan Shui’s eyes remained fixated on the blue ring, guessing correctly that it was filled with the power of the Ti Law.
"Let’s leave this haunted place first; there’s still a Baihe Boy watching with malice outside."
