Chapter 1085: Chapter 1086: The Domineering Elder 2 Chapter 1085: Chapter 1086: The Domineering Elder 2 “Be careful with your words and deeds, young man,” Elder Zhang said, opening one eye slightly. “If soone else had overheard your words just now, not only would you be in trouble, but you would also drag this old man down with you. I might have to kill you first to save myself.”

Li Xiaobai clasped his fists respectfully: “Indeed, my recklessness has gone too far. Thank you, elder, for the reminder.”

“Heheh, young man, why do you keep advising this old man to bid for the resources at this auction?”

“Could it be that you have so sort of connection to this auction? For instance, are so of these materials actually consigned by you?”

Elder Zhang’s tone remained casual, as if he was just asking casually.

But such a question made Li Xiaobai’s heart suddenly leap. This old fellow was too perceptive, rely being bluffed a few tis and he could already guess that Li Xiaobai had consigned items for the auction.

Li Xiaobai responded: “You’re mistaken, elder. You’re not aware, but everything I’ve done has been with your best interests in mind.”

“Let’s hear it.”

“Most of those who ca to today’s auction are from major families and powers of the Central Origin Realm. They are here to seek opportunities for their disciples to excel in the competition that will take place in a few days.”

“If these treasures were bought by them, wouldn’t they beco strong opponents to that precious disciple of yours in the future? Rather than letting these treasures fall into the hands of future rivals, why not control them all yourself? Not only could you arm your disciple but also weaken your opponents’ strength. Wouldn’t that be delightful?”

“Moreover, the growth potential of the Hellfire is excellent. If other sects get their hands on it, how will we deal with Ice Dragon Island later on? To take action now and acquire it, nipping the crisis in the bud, is the wise choice. It’s just that I don’t have enough Immortal Stones on , or else I would have already made a move to snatch it.”

Li Xiaobai spoke with a grave expression, his words plausible and nearly convincing himself.

“So, you’re saying that you have Ice Dragon Island’s best interests at heart, as well as the best interests of my precious disciple, and I should be grateful to you?” Elder Zhang asked.

“There’s no need for gratitude. I couldn’t possibly bear it. However, if you could rember the pleasant conversation we had today and lend a hand when I face danger in the future, that would be most appreciated,” Li Xiaobai said with a forced smile, thinking how this old man, apart from being effeminate, had sharper intuition than a woman, an absolute monster.

“The youth is indeed very shrewd. Xiaohong, did you hear that?” Elder Zhang said lightly.

“I heard it,” the enchanting woman behind him responded, bowing in a respectful but soft tone.

At this mont, the bidding on the first floor had reached a fever pitch. The cultivators below, seeing that the bigwigs on the second floor were still silent, began to harbor foolish hopes; if the elite continued to watch from the sidelines, maybe they could snag a bargain.

Within a few short minutes, the price of the Hellfire had been driven up to the sky-high sum of thirty million. Yet even that price still seed sowhat lacking considering the value of the Hellfire.

As the bid rose to this level, the number of voices calling out bids clearly decreased, and the pace slowed down. Among the cultivators on the first floor, there were sect leaders as well as business magnates, but suddenly pulling out three hundred million top-tier Immortal Stones was a significant expense for anyone, necessitating caution.

“Thirty-five million top-tier Immortal Stones!”

Finally, soone from the second floor made a bid. The voice was familiar; it was the sa old crone who, after remaining quiet for several rounds, couldn’t help but jump back into the fray.

“Forty million.”

In another private room, soone else started to bid.

It was like a large stone thrown into a still lake; the mont it touched the surface, the scene ignited, and bids resounded one after another.

“Fifty million!”

“Fifty-five million!”

“Sixty million!”

“Seventy million…”

A new round of frantic bidding began, distinctly different from the first floor, where bids among the second-floor VIPs started at five million. After just a few calls, the price of the Hellfire had multiplied several tis over, soaring toward the hundred-million mark.

Yet, all of this was within the expectations of Li Xiaobai and Zong Guolong.

After all, the properties of Hellfire were exceedingly fierce. Given sufficient resources, ascending to the Saint Realm was hardly a problem. It was originally intended as the grand finale, but Zong Guolong, considering the imnse amount of rare treasures needed to nurture the fire, acknowledged the invisible barriers. After much thought, he decided to auction it earlier.

If it were not for the bottomless pit of resources required by this fla, his Ancient Dragon Pavilion would have preferred to cultivate it themselves.

Alas, it was too expensive to raise, akin to a Gluttonous Beast devouring money, and not even the kind of spending that guaranteed results.

“One hundred million!”

Xiaohong spoke up again, and as before, her initial bid sent shockwaves through the crowd, leading everyone to glance sideways and speculate about the identity of the big shot in VIP Room 1, whose every bid hit astronomical figures and virtually always hit the price ceiling.

The bidding just reached seventy million, couldn’t you at least pretend and call out eighty million? Jumping straight to a hundred million, what the hell?

Can you leave them any thrill of participation?

“One hundred and ten million!”

The Elder of the Hundred Flowers Sect showed no sign of backing down, matching bid for bid, seemingly locking horns with Xiaohong.

“One hundred and twenty million.”

Xiaohong spoke again.

Li Xiaobai saw the brief hesitation on her face. Her lips moved silently for a mont before she finally nad a figure that made sense. He guessed that she probably wanted to say she’d double whatever the Hundred Flowers Sect offered, but now with the price soaring over a hundred million, even she dared not bid carelessly. One misstep could result in a loss for the Second Elder, angering him and leading to repercussions she couldn’t afford. It was better to play it safe.

Fury laced the Elder’s voice, “One hundred and thirty million.”

Xiaohong: “One hundred and fifty million.”

“Who are you really, and why do you keep vying with my Hundred Flowers Sect?”

“It’s rely a treasured fla. What would it cost you to let this old lady have it?”

The Elder’s anger was palpable, having lost in the auction twice in a row, both tis to the sa person. It was infuriating.

Xiaohong’s lips parted slightly, her words cool and dismissive: “If you can’t afford to play, then don’t. As I’ve said before, if you don’t have the money, don’t step into this arena, or you’ll only slap your own face!”

“Carrying on so high-profile, be careful you might not make it out of the Ancient Dragon Pavilion!”

The Elder spat out her threat venomously, then fell silent. A hundred and fifty million, even for her, felt like an imnse pressure, an unwelco burden she was reluctant to take on.

“Oh, I’m so scared. I’m right here in this VIP box. If the old hag has the ability, she is certainly welco to co and kill .”

Xiaohong’s sarcasm was biting, a gauntlet thrown back in challenge. She was the Second Elder’s favorite, constantly by his side, unafraid of such trifles.

Not to ntion an Elder of the Hundred Flowers Sect, even if the Sect Leader herself were to co, Xiaohong wouldn’t hesitate to talk back.

“Bitch!”

“Who are you calling an old hag, courting death!”

The Elder erupted in fury. The thing won abhor most is when others ntion their age, and that term ‘old hag’ had completely breached her defenses, infuriating her to the point of madness.

Threads of terrifying aura spread, creeping toward the Second Elder’s VIP box. Suddenly, the faces of everyone present shifted. Attacking soone outright during the auction was a sign of contempt towards the Ancient Dragon Pavilion, a blatant disregard for the rules.

With the terrifying presence looming closer, Li Xiaobai felt an inexplicable chill, the aura likely originated from a cultivator above the Half-Holy Level, whether it reached the stature of a Saint Realm cultivator remained unknown.

Previously seated leisurely on the Taishi Chair, enjoying a massage, the Second Elder’s eyes snapped open, flashing a trace of murderous intent. Without any discernable movent, the terrifying aura that perated the auction house dissolved like ice and snow. Within a box hundreds of ters away, the Elder’s body exploded, her Dantian spreading precious wares all around, which neatly fell upon the auction stage.

Swish!

Sin Value materialized out of the void, a string of zeroes dazzling onlookers.

The Second Elder casually waved his hand. Xiaohong, taking the hint, stepped forward and said, “This is the fate of those who scorn the auction house rules. Sect Master Zong, to express our apologies, let the lifelong resources of this old hag be auctioned here today too, and let all proceeds go to the Ancient Dragon Pavilion.”
