Chen Yao didn't dare play gas anymore, much less make any videos.
Although Lin Nan's condition had improved noticeably after taking dicine, he still stood guard by the bed almost constantly, nervously watching Lin Nan's face flushed red from fever.
Anyone who didn't know better would probably think Lin Nan was terminally ill and about to die.
After taking the dicine, Lin Nan's spirits were sowhat low again. With an expression of utter despair, she lay sprawled on the bed, listlessly scrolling through Douyin.
"I want to eat this..." Lin Nan suddenly turned her phone screen toward Chen Yao. "Roasted lamb chops."
"Should I go up to heaven and get them for you? Think of sothing realistic." Chen Yao grabbed her wrist and stuffed her arm back under the covers. "Play under the blanket and don't stick your hands out."
Lin Nan pouted in dissatisfaction and complained, "I'm not Lin Daiyu." (TN: One of the leads of Dream of the Red Chamber. She was known to be sickly.)
Though one needs to stay warm when sick with a cold, ventilation is also necessary, so the window was cracked open. The winter cold wind blew through the window into the room. Chen Yao, who was sitting at the head of the bed, was frozen and shivering, so he had no choice but to put on his thick down jacket.
Chen Yao looked down at Lin Nan. When he'd carried her to the hospital yesterday, he felt that Lin Nan seed to have undergone so slight changes, but he hadn't had the presence of mind to think about it further.
But now...
Did Lin Nan's figure seem a bit better?
Chen Yao had princess-carried her before. Comparing the two tis, there didn't seem to be any problems with the feel or weight, but he just felt sothing was off sowhere.
"I want to take a bath..." Lin Nan poked her head out from under the covers. "Did the doctor say you can't bathe when you have a cold?"
"Don't bathe. Just bear with it."
"Not bathing for a day always feels uncomfortable." Lin Nan sighed. "Plus your house doesn't have a bathtub, so I can't take a soak.”
“Should we install one after the epidemic?"
Lin Nan tucked her head back in. "By then I'll have long since left."
She hid completely under the blanket. After playing on her phone for a while, she rembered that each ti she unlocked magic, her body would undergo changes.
And this ti...
Her face and bone structure definitely hadn't changed. If they had, Chen Yao would have noticed and brought it up long ago.
So she pinched her hands and felt her belly, but couldn't find where exactly the change was.
Could it be internal?
There was once a ti when using magic produced no visible external changes, but instead affected internal organs.
Maybe it developed more completely or sothing?
If that was the case, then her period should stabilize in the future instead of ambushing her with surprise attacks each ti, catching her completely off guard.
Looking more carefully, Lin Nan noticed that the fat on her body was more evenly distributed. Her previously chubby thighs and arms had basically shrunk a size... though they were still fleshy, at least they were more shapely now.
Mm, she was fairly satisfied with this change.
The sound of a lock opening ca from outside. Lin Nan quickly stuck her head out and looked at Chen Yao questioningly.
"It's probably my mom worried about you. I'll go check. You stay put in the room quietly." Chen Yao got up and left the bedroom. Sure enough, he saw his mother coming in carrying a thermal food container.
Auntie looked up at Chen Yao and pointed at the thermal container. "It’s old hen soup. Give so to Nan Nan later. And don’t you steal any."
“What kind of person do you think I am?" Chen Yao rolled his eyes at her then took the thermal container and placed it on the coffee table. "Anything else?"
"Why does your tone sound like you're trying to kick out?" Auntie glared at him in dissatisfaction and walked toward the balcony. "We're out of laundry detergent downstairs. Is there a problem with coming to get so?"
Since they rarely went downstairs, it was normal for them to not notice when so daily necessities ran out.
"Don't leave the residential complex these next few days. If you get infected, Lin Nan and I will both suffer." Chen Yao followed behind, instructing her. "Also, Dad goes to other people's houses to play mahjong every day. Keep him locked in the house and make him play mahjong on his phone instead."
"I know. We've been staying ho these past few days and haven't gone out."
Chen Yao wanted to say sothing more. Watching his mother walk onto the balcony, he suddenly realized he seed to have forgotten sothing.
What was it?
He was still trying hard to rember when he saw his mother excitedly poke her head out from the balcony to look at him.
"I knew we should have given you and Nan Nan so space!"
"What?" Chen Yao was confused, but after following his mother's arm to what she was holding, he suddenly understood. It was the bloodstained sheets.
"It's not..."
"You can never do anything to let her down in the future. Even if she doesn't ntion it, I'll beat you up!" She excitedly interrupted Chen Yao's words, grabbed the laundry detergent, and turned to leave.
Chen Yao hastily explained, "This is Lin Nan's..."
"Once the epidemic is over, your dad and I will arrange the engagent!"
She was extrely excited, talking as she walked. "The house we bought for you in the provincial capital should be renovated too. It can be your marriage ho. If she prefers living in the county, the two of you can live downstairs and we'll live upstairs. I can even help you with the kids. That would be more convenient."
"???"
Chen Yao was rendered completely unable to get a word in and could only watch helplessly as his mother left.
He suddenly felt a terrible headache. Clearly nothing had happened between him and Lin Nan.
"Chen Yao? What's wrong?"
He turned back and found Lin Nan poking her head out from the bedroom to question him. "What was Auntie just saying to you? So noisy."
"Nothing." Chen Yao smiled and changed the subject. "My mom brought you chicken soup. Want to eat it now?"
"Sure, I guess."
Lin Nan wasn't actually hungry. After getting sick, she had no appetite at all and couldn't muster any energy. If dicine didn't have to be taken after als, she probably wouldn't want to eat a single bite.
She returned to the bed and weakly picked up the laptop from the bedside table, placing it on her thighs, trying to find a simple ga online to pass the ti.
Soon Chen Yao also ca into the room carrying a bowl. He placed the chicken soup to one side and looked at Lin Nan, frowning deeply. "Why aren't you lying down properly?"
"My bones are going to go soft from lying down..."
Lin Nan kept her head lowered. It wasn't like she was so seriously ill she couldn't get up. After lying in bed for most of the day, she felt uncomfortable all over.
Moreover, she'd gone out last night and hadn't bathed or changed clothes. The bedding felt disgustingly dirty.
"If the illness gets worse, you'll be lying in a hospital bed, okay?" Chen Yao sat by Lin Nan's legs and consoled her. "Just bear with it for two days. Once you're completely better, you can do whatever you want."
Lin Nan looked up at his serious expression, let out a long sigh, and reluctantly lay down on her side.
Chen Yao covered her with the blanket again. Lin Nan muttered complaints. "Not letting do this, not letting do that. So annoying."
"I'm only annoying you for a few days."
"I want a hamburger..."
"I'll order delivery for you later." He casually patted the blanket covering Lin Nan.
But Lin Nan suddenly widened her eyes and glared at him furiously.
Chen Yao looked at Lin Nan in confusion. "What's wrong?"
Lin Nan didn't answer. She turned over, not wanting to deal with him.
Pervert! He actually patted my chest!

Apparently old hens are specifically used in so recipes. Apparently they have denser bones, higher collagen, and more myoglobin. Honestly, I have no clue what that ans for the hen, but if it works it works I guess?
