Chen Yao's mother was delighted to discover that her brainless son had actually brought ho a beautiful girl.
Her son wasn't bad at all. In terms of academics, he'd at least gotten into university; in terms of looks, he was at least above average; in terms of finances, though he wasn't exactly a rich second generation, their family did have an apartnt in the provincial capital and had bought a car worth over a hundred thousand yuan.
The problem was that her son just didn't get it! She had no prohibition against early romance. Looking at relatives and friends whose children married early, then looking at her own fool who had never even dated, she could only worry helplessly.
But today was simply a pleasant surprise.
Chen Yao's mom hurriedly stepped forward, enthusiastically greeting Lin Nan: "Co in quickly, dear. Auntie didn't prepare anything, this is too sudden."
However, Lin Nan was startled by her enthusiasm, hastily stepping back two steps and hiding behind Chen Yao, only poking out her little head to look at her.
She timidly nodded and greeted: "Hello, Auntie."
Only then did Chen Yao's mom notice Lin Nan's eyes full of wariness.
She was stunned for a mont, then turned to glare at her own child. This girl couldn't have been abducted by Chen Yao, could she?
Chen Yao smiled awkwardly, knowing that his overly enthusiastic mother had scared the already emotionally tense Lin Nan. He quickly stepped sideways to block his mother's view and explained: "My friend. She's staying at our house for half a day and leaving this afternoon."
"Just an ordinary friend?"
"Yeah." Chen Yao nodded quickly.
But she still looked at Chen Yao with suspicious eyes. Lin Nan's instinctive seeking of Chen Yao's protection didn't look like the reaction ordinary friends would have at all.
Maybe they were in a state of not-quite-lovers yet?
After inviting Lin Nan to put on slippers and enter the house, before his mother could say anything more, Chen Yao quickly pushed Lin Nan's shoulders: "Go to my room and put away the luggage and cat. If you want to sleep, rest for a while. I'll call you out for lunch."
He knew Lin Nan wasn't willing to see strangers in her current state, so he quickly sent Lin Nan into his bedroom before looking at his mother helplessly.
"Mom, really just ordinary friends."
"I can't tell." Chen Yao's mom shook her head, returned to the sofa, and excitedly called Chen Yao's dad on her phone: "Hello? Buy so good groceries and co back. Your son brought a girlfriend ho! He was finally enlightened!"
Chen Yao's mouth twitched. His mom clearly had no intention of listening to his explanation.
After finishing the call, Chen Yao's mom curiously asked: "But didn’t the expression of that girl seem a bit strange?"
"She was kicked out by her dad last night. I took her to stay at a hotel for the night..." He awkwardly distorted the facts sowhat.
Before he finished speaking, his mom frowned and reminded: "If you accidentally make a baby, whether you get married or not won't be up to you then..."
"Mom!" Chen Yao was both crying and laughing. "I didn't sleep all night."
“Is that so..."
Chen Yao was stunned for a mont before realizing his mother was making a dirty joke. His face imdiately turned red, and he fumbled to explain, but Chen Yao's mom had no intention of listening to him and got up to walk toward the kitchen.
"What does that girl like to eat? I'll go make her breakfast."
"She already ate."
"It's fine, eating more is good. Let her taste your mom's cooking."
Chen Yao watched her excitedly running to the kitchen and shook his head helplessly, then walked toward his room.
He hadn't slept all night, but fortunately he was physically strong and could still handle it.
Pushing open the bedroom door and looking inside, he found Lin Nan sitting stiffly at the computer desk.
"Do you want to catch up on so sleep?" Chen Yao sat on the edge of the bed, yawning as he asked. "You didn't sleep much last night either."
Actually, counting from when Lin Nan slept at ten until after five the next day, it was about seven hours.
But Chen Yao could tell from her occasional frowning and head-holding that Lin Nan had hurt herself with drinking.
"Sleep where?"
"On the bed. I'll sleep on the floor." Chen Yao got up again to look for a bamboo mat in the wardrobe, preparing to sleep on the floor, while also explaining his mother's enthusiasm: "My mom thinks you're my girlfriend. Don't mind it."
"I know." Lin Nan hung her head low, looking sowhat restless and uneasy.
This was her first ti eting Chen Yao's mother. Although it was just simple conversation, seeing the interaction between this parent and child made Lin Nan quite envious.
"Dear, want so fish balls?"
The bedroom door opened again. Chen Yao's mom entered carrying a small bowl, smiling as she ca to Lin Nan's side and set down the bowl and chopsticks: "Just treat this as your own ho, don't be nervous. Do whatever you want to do."
"Mm..."
Lin Nan nervously nodded her little head. She didn't dare refuse Chen Yao's mom's kindness and quickly picked up the bowl to eat.
Chen Yao's mom didn't leave either, looking Lin Nan up and down from the side, finding her more and more satisfactory and likeable the more she looked.
Such a proper girl was just right for her son. Not so beautiful as to be like a fairy, but her looks were above standard, matching perfectly with her son's moderate handsoness.
And although her personality was a bit timid, and her relationship with her in-laws seed not good, this also ant that after marriage there wouldn't be the possibility of being "blood-sucked" by in-laws.
Her gaze moved to Lin Nan's hips, extrely satisfied. Big hips was good for childbearing.
Lin Nan felt uncomfortable being stared at, but didn't dare say much. Chen Yao couldn't stand watching and got up to push his mother out: "Just call us for lunch. We'll catch up on sleep first."
"Got it, got it." Chen Yao's mom nodded happily and was pushed out of the bedroom, but suddenly leaned close to Chen Yao's ear and whispered: "I'll go out shopping first. You two make sure to take safety asures."
"Mom! It's really not that kind of relationship."
Chen Yao's face turned red, but his mom wouldn't listen to explanations. Her face was as happy as if it were New Year, and she excitedly went out still wearing her pajamas.
He turned back helplessly and found Lin Nan looking at him curiously. The redness on his face imdiately deepened, and he hurriedly explained: "My mom has problems with her brain. Don't mind her."
Lin Nan shook her head and said softly: "It's fine, I just really envy you..."
Except for that trip ho two months ago, in Lin Nan's mory it seed there had never been scenes of playing around with her parents.
