I Don't Want to Be Turned Into the Female Protagonist by the System Chapter 559 : A Well-Intentioned Lie
After hearing her wife Wang Yun's words, Su Qi looked at her "father-in-law" with surprise. She hadn't expected him to try and steal her thunder while she was chatting with An Ning.
As a proper adult, Wang Yifu was astonished by his daughter's quick retort. However, he quickly regained his composure, cleared his throat, and said solemnly:
"Well, after you've finished talking, you should leave the hospital. Don't risk getting infected!"
Feeling awkward, Wang Yifu left the room after giving this advice.
Once he departed, Su Qi began to properly examine her wife Wang Yun. Like An Ning, she hadn't seen Wang Yun in person for over two weeks. Although they video-called daily, seeing soone in the flesh was far superior.
Wang Yun watched her little husband flit around her like a butterfly, concern evident on her fair face. Though aware of the ancient flu virus's severity, she felt her little husband was overly worried.
Since Wang Yifu had just co to gather information, Wang Yun knew about Su Qi's plans for a research institute. Once the three were inside, the conversation quickly turned to matters concerning the institute.
Honestly, Wang Yun was deeply moved by her little husband's initiative to establish a research institute. She was 100% certain that Su Qi's primary motivation was for their benefit. However, upon seeing the "military order" wager, Wang Yun felt a twinge of concern.
The docunt stipulated a 20-day tifra, starting from today. But so far, the research institute didn't even have a basic frawork. Wang Yun estimated that purchasing dical equipnt and finding and renovating a location would take at least seven days, even at top speed. That left only 13 days for actual research.
Although her little husband and cute Junior Xiaoxiao appeared very confident, Wang Yun couldn't help but feel uneasy. The tiline was incredibly tight.
After so consideration, to save ti, Wang Yun reluctantly pushed Su Qi out of the hospital room, despite wanting to spend more ti together. After all, the pressing matter at hand was to quickly resolve the issue of the research institute's location.
Pushed out of the room, Su Qi soon entered the adjacent Room 1508. Approaching the door, she recalled how Bai Miao had lied about being fine during yesterday's video call. Su Qi felt her wife deserved a bit of scolding for this.
Although Su Qi understood Bai Miao's desire not to worry her, lying to one's spouse was unacceptable.
After knocking gently, Su Qi saw the door open from inside. The room's occupant, Bai Miao, had been in a daze since her fourth fever spike yesterday. With a temperature of 39°C, she was understandably out of sorts.
Though the hospital had provided a proper treatnt plan with IVs and dication, Bai Miao wasn't as severely feverish as yesterday. However, she was far from her usual spirited self.
Upon opening the door and seeing her missed little husband, Bai Miao, perhaps due to her fever-induced confusion, thought she must be dreaming. After all, Su Qi shouldn't be able to enter the hospital while they were in isolation.
Thinking it was a dream, Bai Miao reached out and gently pinched her little husband's cheek. The soft, collagen-rich feel made her think she could almost squeeze water out if she applied more pressure.
Wait... she could feel it?
Bai Miao then used her left hand to pinch Su Qi's other cheek, stretching it slightly and giving Su Qi a cat-like appearance.
Seeing her wife Bai Miao continuously pulling at her cheeks, Su Qi realized just how delirious she was from the fever.
To avoid disturbing other patients in the hallway, Su Qi quickly swatted away Bai Miao's hands.
The pain snapped Bai Miao out of her daze. Looking at her little husband before her, she asked in surprise, "Hubby, how did you get here?"
Su Qi rubbed her cheeks and entered the room. She knew that if she didn't take advantage of Bai Miao's current confusion, her gentle nature would likely lead her to refuse entry due to the risk of infection.
Only after Su Qi had seated herself on the hospital bed did Bai Miao belatedly rember the contagion issue. But how could she simply ask Su Qi to leave now that she was inside?
To prevent Bai Miao from expelling her, Su Qi promptly handed over a stack of docunts about the research institute.
Examining the approval papers for the institute, Bai Miao was amazed. Working in real estate, she knew how difficult it was to obtain such approvals. The process usually involved multiple submissions and reviews, often taking at least ten days for a single docunt.
Yet the date on these papers was today. Bai Miao was astonished at the incredible efficiency.
Su Qi noticed Bai Miao continually flipping through the docunts. Perhaps due to her thick bathrobe, the weakened Bai Miao had small beads of sweat on her nose.
Seeing this, Su Qi reached out with her slender hand to wipe away the sweat.
Feeling her little husband's intimate gesture, Bai Miao imdiately stepped back and cautioned, "Hubby, I'm sick. We can't have close contact."
Faced with Bai Miao's defensive posture, Su Qi felt like crying. She believed Wang Yun and An Ning's milder symptoms were due to their usually less gentle nature.
Seeing Bai Miao's wariness, Su Qi decided to wait until the research institute was established before revealing the specific treatnt plan. Otherwise, given Bai Miao's gentle personality, Su Qi feared her research institute plans would hit a major roadblock.
It would have to remain a well-intentioned lie for now.
