"Welco, what would you like to purchase, ow~" A kitten sprawled atop the counter’s treasure basin spoke upon seeing soone approach.
Clearly, this was a fortune-cat.
However, Gu Shanhai realized sothing the mont he first saw it; despite its juvenile appearance, it could twist his head off in a fight.
"What currency does Wan Tong Comrce use?" Gu Shanhai asked while browsing the items in the shop.
Each Plane rchant required different currencies. In his past life, he had encountered several instances of this. For example, foot rchants required Fairy Coins, a unique currency ford from the spiritual essence of all things. Then there was Protective Umbrella Responsibility Limited Company, who only demanded skeletons. Or the Ministry of Revenue of the Da Zhou Dynasty; they did not even demand currency but allowed selection of any item upon completing their assigned tasks.
There were also so other, oddly specific Plane rchants with varying needs and demands.
"ow~ We use wealth," announced the fortune-cat, still seated in the treasure basin.
"Wealth? That’s a rather broad range," Gu Shanhai was surprised; he hadn’t expected them to use the concept of wealth.
Wealth was a peculiar concept. For example, a bottle of water in a post-apocalyptic world held an entirely different wealth value than in a normal world. The rchant wasn’t seeking the item itself, but rather its value.
So, there was a completely different standard of wealth in every world.
"Do you have any recomndations?" Gu Shanhai inquired.
"Actually, there’s nothing to recomnd, ow, you can’t afford it," the fortune-cat said, licking its fur.
"..." Gu Shanhai’s face fell. He had just checked; each item was trendously expensive, with even the lowest valued items demanding eight-digit figures.
For instance, the Sky Demon Legacy (including a Sky Demon Blood Blade) was priced at ten nines, discounted. Similarly, the Shu Mountain Legacy (version 79631475.368) was also priced at ten nines post-discount. It baffled him why the Shu Mountain Legacy had versions.
There were also peculiar items like the Misfortune Fla, Five Emperors’ Legacy (Five Demons Edition), "How Luck is Made," the "Stable Insanity Edition of Mystical Lord’s Seven Chapter Secret Scripture," "On System Cultivation," "How to Pluck Wool from ... Space," etc., none of them cheap.
Although they sounded humorous, Gu Shanhai was certain of their quality.
"Have you ever been attacked for doing business this way?" Gu Shanhai asked sowhat speechlessly.
"Yes, ow, but usually, those who dare attack end up as rchandise. You can preorder one if you want, and I’ll send it by courier, though the price might fluctuate hugely," the fortune-cat said earnestly.
Gu Shanhai felt he was in a ’black shop.’ They even accepted preorders for those turned into rchandise, and that so-called price fluctuation—he was afraid he might not be able to pay off and would end up as rchandise himself.
"No, thank you," Gu Shanhai declined. Such items were useless to him.
"That’s such a pity; it’s quite a popular business," the fortune-cat said with a tone of regret.
And then, looking at Gu Shanhai, it continued, "Although you’re sowhat poor, I won’t look down on you. Here’s a deal, I’ll give you a commission; just complete it, and I’ll personally gift you sothing."
"A thing you need."
"Let’s talk about that commission first," Gu Shanhai stayed calm, disregarding the cat’s attitude. If the task were easy, he’d undertake it. If not, nothing was worth more than his own life.
"Ah~ Soone carelessly twisted the world lines, which ssed up the training ground. Naturally, it’s nobody’s fault, but we can’t just leave it like that. So, we need soone experienced to help pull the tiline back."
"Don’t look at , you definitely aren’t capable of it. Only the Heavenly Destiny Person can, I suppose you know him."
The fortune-cat spoke, pulling out a vial.
In that instant, Gu Shanhai’s pupils constricted, recognizing the item instantly—an Ability Awakening Potion that should not exist, with a hue indicating at least a legendary version capable of awakening multiple abilities in an individual.
"I suppose you know what to do. Give this potion to the right person; he can help you fulfill this commission. You just need to deliver it," the fortune-cat said.
Gu Shanhai was expressionless. This fortune-cat could directly interfere with the tiline, even casually do so, sothing not even he at his peak in his forr life could achieve easily.
Now he understood. It wasn’t just good luck that brought him here; this place had been waiting for him as a result of that initial accident being diated through him, causing significant changes.
It was probably a commission from "The First Epoch." As for why the original tiline had deviated, probably...an explosion gone wrong?
Everyone was dead, how could they train soldiers? Gu Shanhai guessed it was indeed supposed to be a post-apocalyptic era, not the extinction as now.
"I’ll take the commission, but how can you be sure the person is still alive?" Gu Shanhai asked.
"ow, I’m guessing," the fortune-cat did not really answer.
"Alright, then what counts as completing my task?" Gu Shanhai further asked.
Was it really just delivering the item? Unlikely. More likely, the tiline needed to be adjusted to a certain extent before his commission was deed complete.
"Let think, think... oh, just follow the instructions. I’ve already stored the item, and it will be sent to you once you et the criteria," the fortune-cat handled it quickly.
And at that mont, Gu Shanhai’s task was overwritten and altered.
[Task: Assist the Savior, Reward: Blank Invitation Letter]
Looking at this vague task, yet seeing the reward, he needed that.
The Blank Invitation Letter was the top-tier of invitations; if he knew the na of a world, he could write it down to directly anchor that world. If he had a demand but didn’t know which world, he could use keywords like immortal, summoning, fairy, etc., to assemble freely and match with a world that featured those keywords.
This was a rare chance for Gu Shanhai to have autonomy—a potentially perfect opportunity to further refine his own system.
And with the endorsent ofAppropriatelyFrom "The First Epoch," he at least knew when he could complete the task.
"Alright, then I’ll take my leave first," Gu Shanhai took the Ability Awakening Potion, placed it in his portable lab, and stood to leave.
"ow, don’t ss around with the potion, it’s absurdly powerful and prone to accidents."
After departing, Wan Tong Comrce gradually beca transparent and vanished while Gu Shanhai heard the fortune-cat’s advice echo in his ears.
