Looking at probabilities, Gu Shanhai leaned more towards being a pursuer, after all, pursuers are people with power, and this woman was pursued because she lacked sufficient power.

She must have so influence to help him enter Yong’an City without danger, could it be the one being pursued?

So he pondered, should he just give her a single stroke and treat it as his declaration of allegiance?

But after not running far, Gu Shanhai sensed so disturbance in the distance.

"Wait, there are troops." Gu Shanhai suddenly said.

A third party’s presence appeared. According to Gu Shanhai’s perception and Spiritual Sense, it should be a team of Daoist Soldiers.

Approaching from a distance, they quickly arrived.

"Princess Fushan, your ti has co."

A group of Daoist Soldiers blocked Gu Shanhai and the woman, and the leading Armored Soldier spoke calmly.

"You..." The woman known as Princess Fushan darkened in expression, never expecting she’d still be unable to escape.

"Well, I have a pot of soup stewing at ho, maybe I should head back? You all take your ti," Gu Shanhai said with a hint of mockery.

He knew of Princess Fushan, the elder princess, the Emperor’s sister who was ready to cede the throne to Luo Chuan, the most loyal of the Imperial Party, always on the move with her Prince Consort, one of Luo Chuan’s few opponents, and also the most troubleso one.

Now, she seed to have fallen into such a state, Gu Shanhai guessed it must be because she had beco an obstacle to Luo Chuan’s ascension and so he planned to get rid of her.

Looking at the scene, her Prince Consort and the entire Imperial Party had been wiped out.

Neither side paid any attention to Gu Shanhai, the Armored Soldier simply said, "Bring it forward."

Then three Daoist Soldiers held out a golden tray with poison, white silk, and a dagger on it, the ssage being for her to choose one.

"You will not die a good death!" Princess Fushan gritted her teeth in anger.

If she ended her own life, she would be granted dignity, but if she did not act, they would "assist" her in maintaining her dignity.

Now, she was nothing.

"So, can I go?" Gu Shanhai interjected, trying to make his presence felt.

"Silence him," the Armored Soldier ordered indifferently after glancing at Gu Shanhai.

In his eyes, Princess Fushan was of utmost importance; Gu Shanhai was just an unlucky soul caught in the crossfire.

A Daoist Soldier drew his long sword from his waist and swung it at Gu Shanhai without a mont’s hesitation, cleaving him in two, spilling blood and entrails in a most horrific display.

Elsewhere, other Daoist Soldiers held down Princess Fushan, forcibly pouring the poison into her throat, and after a struggle, it was ultimately in vain.

After the deed was done, the group left without even cleaning up the ss, leaving Princess Fushan’s body right there on the ground.

Bring it back? What for, inviting trouble.

As a mber of the Imperial Party, the best outco was to disappear, for death would require a proper ceremonial burial. With Luo Chuan’s imminent ascension, a funeral would be inauspicious. Besides, with no one aware and the forest full of wild beasts, by the next day she might be so gnawed up as to be unrecognizable.

At that point, it would be easy to deny that the body was Princess Fushan’s, simply wrap the remains in a mat, dump them in a paupers’ cetery, and be done with it.

Their targets weren’t just Princess Fushan; there were many in the Imperial Party who had escaped this way and they needed to be eliminated one by one.

After the people had left, Gu Shanhai also got up.

"My acting is still quite remarkable." After stitching himself up nonchalantly, Gu Shanhai said with a bit of pride.

"Oh, right, there’s also a dead person waiting for to resurrect them."

Gu Shanhai also realized this, looking towards the unpeaceful Princess Fushan. Speaking of death, she truly was dead; however, Gu Shanhai had retained a sliver of vitality in her.

With a flick of his hand, he activated it and vitality flowed through her body. In a daze, she ca back to life and then vomited a large amount of black liquid. Gu Shanhai casually neutralized the poison for her.

"You’re awake, you’ve successfully turned into a boy," Gu Shanhai reminded her with a statent.

It seed that her brain had been oxygen-deprived for too long and she wasn’t quite back to reality, swaying for about ten seconds before she finally ca around and hoarsely said, "I’m not dead?"

"No, why aren’t you dead?" Terror tinged Princess Fushan’s expression. She had watched with her own eyes as Gu Shanhai was cut in half with a sword, his organs spilling out on the ground. How could he possibly be alive?

"Are you still half asleep? How could I possibly die," Gu Shanhai said with dissatisfaction.

By then, Princess Fushan had cald down, she knew she had encountered a truly capable person; otherwise, how could she experience sothing as absurd as coming back from death?

"Thank you, sir, for saving ." She dared not ask more, knowing well that she had fallen from grace and was no longer the high-and-mighty elder princess.

Gu Shanhai wanted to remind her that although she was indeed the elder princess, she was not loftily above others. In her sphere, the only person truly above all was Luo Chuan.

This woman was still imrsed in the era of Dalong, not the era of military lords holding fragnted authority, where dominants wielded power—commonly known as being out of touch with reality.

At this junction, when it’s ti to act humble, one must do so.

"Please, sir, help restore order from chaos and eliminate the Luo thief!" Princess Fushan invited without hesitation.

At that, Gu Shanhai didn’t even know how to respond.

Kill Luo Chuan? Was she joking? He controlled a million Daoist Soldiers, and she didn’t have a single underling. How could she possibly kill him? Just go and attempt an assassination?

But even assassination needs to follow basic principles. A feedback from a million king-level Daoist Soldiers was more than enough to crush Gu Shanhai. Luo Chuan could only be successfully assassinated with Jiang Lu’s help, since only he possessed a comparable number of Daoist Soldiers and strength.

But asking a faction leader to assassinate another faction leader? If one wins, so be it, but what if one loses? Only soone with a sick mind would do such a thing.

"Let’s be frank, you’re alone; how am I to help? Seek death?" Gu Shanhai asked indifferently, feeling this might be his opportunity.

"I still have three thousand forr subordinates in Yong’an, and I can contact old loyalists to collaborate with. The next ti that thief enters the palace to coerce the Emperor into declaring the Heavenly Emperor Tripod, we strike together. With your help, sir, success is certain."

"At that ti, high ranks and rich rewards will be offered to you, sir."

His words made sense and even tempted Gu Shanhai a little, but it was clear that she hadn’t realized just how powerful Luo Chuan was. Gu Shanhai had seen firsthand how fearso Jiang Lu was with his ten million king-level Daoist Soldiers. Even without any soldiers by his side, Gu Shanhai wouldn’t survive ten moves in a one-on-one fight with Jiang Lu using his limit state.

At this ti, Jiang Lu was at least a level 3000 existence. Luo Chuan might be slightly lower, but he should be above level 2900. The main issue was that the gap between 2999 and 3000 was too vast. Jiang Lu had forcefully broken through it with the sheer number of Daoist Soldiers. Otherwise, a 100-level gap wouldn’t require nine million king-level Daoist Soldiers to make a distinction.

In theory, Jiang Lu could currently sweep through everything, but that’s only in theory, not in practice, because there were many factors to consider.

Like the fact that he had ten million Daoist Soldiers, he certainly couldn’t command all of them. There were simply too many—a quantity so vast that even Jiang Lu felt overwheld.

Thus, what he could control as freely as his own limbs was probably around a hundred thousand. At the limit, it would be a million Daoist Soldiers. Luo Chuan, Zhou Ding, and others were the sa. The rest of the Daoist Soldiers were more of a foundation and strength.

"Princess Fushan invites , and I’m overjoyed. But how should you and I travel to Yong’an? It’s a distant journey, difficult indeed," Gu Shanhai thought to himself that this was a death wish, but he certainly agreed verbally. He thought about using her influence to sneak into the city and then take advantage of her power to uncover the Heavenly Emperor Tripod and make his escape.

Gu Shanhai figured that Princess Fushan would be his human shield.

"Sir, have no worries, I have already made arrangents. If it wasn’t for that Luo thief’s forces arriving, why would I have fallen into such a state?" Princess Fushan said with pride.

Once Gu Shanhai agreed, her self-reference changed from a humbler "I" to "this palace," even though she still addressed him formally as ’sir,’ she clearly treated Gu Shanhai like a subordinate.

To this, Gu Shanhai didn’t mind at all. After all, she was going to be his shield, so letting her puff up a bit was only fair. He then spoke, "Princess truly has foresight; the Luo thief will be caught unprepared."

A bit of flattery was a small matter.
