It took a good while before Anthony ca back to his senses, murmuring softly, and then he suddenly thought of how positive and negative charges repel and attract each other, which was very similar to the properties of a magnet.
“So, electricity is magnetism, and magnetism is electricity?” Anthony said, as if he had discovered a new continent, his voice filled with excitent.
He felt that he had glimpsed the secrets of thunder and magnetic fields.
“No, that’s not quite right. Electricity and magnetism, although inseparable and interdependent aspects, are not the sa thing. Where there is electricity, there is magnetism, but the presence of magnetism does not necessarily imply electricity…” Lynn shook his head.
Anthony’s expression imdiately froze, and then he beca confused again. If they were not the sa thing, then why could they generate and convert into each other?
Many questions flashed through his mind, and Anthony could only look to Lynn eagerly, waiting for his explanation.
“To understand this, you must first understand what a magnetic field is!” Lynn said with a smile. “According to the scholars at the Secret Magic Society, it is a special form of matter that exists around magnets, electric currents, and moving charges, a vector field that has direction and magnitude at any point in space…”
“The planet beneath our feet, for example, is a massive magnetic field!” Lynn extended his right hand and snapped his fingers, and a colossal azure planet appeared before Anthony.
Because his knowledge of the continent was limited, most regions were covered by thick clouds.
But this was obviously not the point. As Lynn’s words fell, countless materialized lines of magnetic force extended from the north and south poles, drawing beautiful arcs, wrapping the entire planet like a vast net in the center.
Gazing at the colossal celestial body beneath his feet, Anthony was so shocked that he was lost for words. At this mont, he could not even bother to wonder why the continent was spherical. He asked in astonishnt,
“So, does that an the land beneath our feet is a huge magnet? Is that why all things are attracted to the surface of the earth?”
Anthony imdiately thought of the theory of elental charges that Abel once ntioned to him, which perfectly explained the phenonon of things falling towards the ground.
“No, that’s actually the work of the planet’s gravitational force,” Lynn said with a smile and a bit of exasperation. “However, magnetism and gravity do resemble each other in so respects…”
Using the colossal planet as a blueprint, Lynn proceeded to explain the mysteries of electricity and magnetism to Anthony, from magnetic flux lines and magnetization to electromagnetic induction, and then to the mutual influence and conversion of electric and magnetic fields.
Electromagnetic phenona in the Quantum Domain, a fundantal elent of the universe, would take days and nights to discuss thoroughly.
Sound, electricity, magnetism, light, color, heat transfer, thermal radiation, chemical reactions, and even the formation of life, at their core, all stem from electromagnetic force!
Any single branch of this field is so deep that a person could spend a lifeti studying it and might still not fully understand it.
This is why Lynn did not cling to this knowledge alone, developing related magic by himself; after all, the culmination of thousands of years of human wisdom cannot be summarized, organized, and combined with magic to reach a higher level by just one person. It would simply be delusional.
Neither the advancent of science nor the developnt of magical studies can be achieved by a single person…
Although Lynn mainly explained macroscopic electromagnetic phenona and had not yet delved into the more profound electromagnetic quantum theories, it was already extrely shocking for Anthony.
Originally, Anthony thought his understanding of Thunder Magic was deep enough, with only the key cause eluding him. However, after Lynn’s explanation, he realized that his knowledge was so superficial!
Electrons, electric charges, alternating current, direct current… and then the static magnetic field, alternating magnetic field, pulsating magnetic field…
All these concepts and terms rushed into his brain, making Anthony feel ashad of his years of research.
He had created many powerful Thunder Magics, discovered the phenonon of electricity producing magnetism, and even created alchemy runes that could harness electromagnetic force, but his understanding of lightning was undoubtedly still superficial.
“Wizard Lynn, may I know who is the master or legendary wizard behind these theories and studies…” Anthony asked, clearly curious.
“The developnt of electromagnetism is not the effort of one or two individuals, but the collective research results of many scholars within the Secret Magic Society…” Lynn began to recount.
“Such as Master Faraday, who discovered electromagnetic induction, Master Ampere, who determined the direction of magnetic lines, Master Millikan, who asured the charge of electrons with the oil drop experint, and many more…”
Lynn modified the stories of these sages to fit the identity of a wizard.
Hearing this filled Anthony with longing, wishing he could join them and study the mysteries of the Electromagnetic Domain alongside these masters.
However, to his surprise, Lynn did not ntion his own contributions, yet he had such deep understanding of the developnt and intricacies of electromagnetism!
This was obviously very unusual. Magical theories are incredibly precious, and no one would teach all their research to another person without reservation, unless it was a master-apprentice transmission, an academic exchange among peers, or with ulterior motives.
For example, Lynn had explained a lot of electromagnetic theories and phenona to him, but he had still been very vague about many critical issues…
Anthony could tell they were hooks, but his thirst for knowledge made him disregard such concerns, willing to taste the sweetness of the sugar coating, even if it hid a poison.
After talking for a long ti and rousing Anthony’s emotions, Lynn finally pulled out his trump card!
“There are many theories to describe electromagnetism, but in general, they can be summarized in this set of magical equations!”
As Lynn finished speaking, brilliantly shining points of light appeared in the void. They gradually converged together, outlining four mathematical equations composed of letters and symbols.
These were Gauss’s law, which describes how electric charges generate an electric field, Gauss’s law for magnetism, which states that magnetic monopoles do not exist, the Maxwell-Ampere law, which describes how currents and ti-varying electric fields produce a magnetic field, and Faraday’s law of induction, which describes how a ti-varying magnetic field induces an electric field.
This set of equations could be said to be the epito of all, unifying electricity and magnetism in an almost perfect way and predicting that light is an electromagnetic wave, forming the foundation of electromagnetism!
