Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Reconnecting a Severed Arm

Fang Yun’s subsequent conversation with Song Qiaoqiao focused more on matters of Alchemy.

As Fang Yun was leaving Song Qiaoqiao’s residence and heading back, he happened to see Senior Brother Lu Zefeng knocking on his door.

He was alone this ti; Senior Sister Zhang Cailing was nowhere to be seen.

"Senior Brother Lu," Fang Yun called out.

"Junior Brother Fang." Lu Zefeng’s face lit up as he turned to see Fang Yun. He had just been about to leave, planning to co back and check again tomorrow.

"Senior Brother, have you prepared the materials?"

It wasn’t hard for Fang Yun to guess why Lu Zefeng was looking for him. By his count, nearly half a month had passed.

"They’re ready. I was wondering if you’re free today, Junior Brother?" Lu Zefeng had prepared more than enough of every material required.

Purchasing these materials had already cost him most of his net worth.

’If the Refining is successful, I’ll have to work even harder on sect missions to make it back.’

"I am."

Fang Yun had already adjusted his plans. If Lu Zefeng hadn’t shown up today, he would have refined and absorbed two Upper Grade Qi Enhancent Pills to advance his Cultivation.

With a sufficient supply of Upper Grade Qi Enhancent Pills, his Cultivation was now steadily improving.

"Let’s go to the Artifact Casting Peak," Fang Yun said, wasting no ti.

"Alright."

Fang Yun matched Lu Zefeng’s pace.

With Lu Zefeng setting the pace, the two of them hurried to the Artifact Casting Peak.

This was the slowest Fang Yun had traveled all month, but the ti difference wasn’t significant.

He had already compressed his travel ti to be as short as possible.

「Artifact Casting Peak.」

Fang Yun and Lu Zefeng arrived at the rental office for Artifact Refining Rooms.

Over half a month ago, Steward Cai had spoken to Fang Yun about the Artifact Casting Peak’s Managent Elder, but nothing had co of it.

Steward Cai hadn’t seen Elder Xiong visit since then, so he felt it would be inappropriate to bring the matter up with Fang Yun again.

’Thinking about it now,’ he mused, ’what Fang Yun said back then was right.’

As for Fang Yun, he hadn’t given the matter much thought. He might only recall it if his influence within the sect were to suddenly jump by two or three percentage points for no apparent reason.

"Steward Cai."

"And this is?" Steward Cai asked, looking at Lu Zefeng.

This was the first ti he had ever seen Fang Yun bring soone with him.

"I am the disciple Lu Zefeng." Seeing how familiar Steward Cai and Fang Yun seed, Lu Zefeng introduced himself before explaining, "Junior Brother Fang is helping

with so Artifact Refining that requires my assistance."

"Oh, I see."

Steward Cai’s gaze fell on Lu Zefeng’s empty sleeve, and he seed to understand.

’This kind of Artifact Refining is incredibly difficult.’

But since Fang Yun was the one doing the Refining, he didn’t say anything further.

He believed that since Fang Yun had chosen to help Lu Zefeng with the Refining, he would surely be able to accomplish it.

"Steward Cai, I need a High-grade Artifact Refining Room."

"Of course. Here you go." Steward Cai handed the Token for High-grade Artifact Refining Room Number One to Fang Yun, then turned to Lu Zefeng. "The rental fee for a High-grade room is three Lower Grade Spirit Stones per day."

In Steward Cai’s mind, it was only natural that Lu Zefeng would be the one to pay the rental fee.

’What they were about to undertake was no ordinary Refining, after all.’

Lu Zefeng understood this as well. He took out three Lower Grade Spirit Stones and then followed Fang Yun into High-grade Artifact Refining Room Number One.

If the Refining process went smoothly, he would need to participate in the final stage.

The connection of the arm to his body.

Fang Yun had already warned him that it would be an excruciating process and that he must endure the pain.

"Senior Brother Lu, please take out all the materials."

"Alright, Junior Brother."

Lu Zefeng laid out the materials he had collected one by one in front of Fang Yun.

First, Fang Yun needed to perform a series of treatnts on the materials.

Throughout the entire process, Lu Zefeng could do nothing but watch from the side.

Lu Zefeng had assud that watching soone else perform Artifact Refining would be an incredibly boring process, since he couldn’t participate.

Boredom, he knew, would only make the wait feel longer.

However, after witnessing Fang Yun’s fluid and masterful technique, he beca completely captivated by the Artifact Refining process.

He was only snapped out of his trance when he saw his severed arm begin to shrink, withering away until it was nothing but skin and bone.

’This arm is completely different from what I imagined...’

’The purplish-black color hasn’t even faded. If I attach this, anyone who doesn’t know better will think I’ve joined the Evil Demons and Crooked Paths.’

The arm now looked devoid of flesh and blood, as if it were just bone wrapped in a thin layer of skin, though that wasn’t quite right upon closer inspection.

Despite it being completely different from his expectations, Lu Zefeng remained silent.

’I absolutely cannot disturb him,’ he thought. ’If sothing goes wrong with the Refining, I won’t even be able to attach it to my body.’

「As ti went on.」

Fang Yun’s Refining process reached its final stage.

The entire process had gone more smoothly than Fang Yun expected, which was fortunate for Lu Zefeng.

"Senior Brother Lu, tear open the skin at the center of your right arm’s stump and use your Spiritual Power to show

the location of your ridians," Fang Yun instructed.

He had already explained the final attachnt process to Lu Zefeng.

"Right!"

Having reached this stage, Lu Zefeng knew Fang Yun’s Refining was a success. Barring any accidents, it was almost certain that the arm would be reattached.

The only way it could fail was if he didn’t follow Fang Yun’s instructions.

As the withered arm made contact with his body, Lu Zefeng was hit with an intense burning sensation, like being scalded and poisoned at the sa ti.

It was an awful feeling.

’No wonder Junior Brother Fang said attaching the arm would be extrely painful.’

Lu Zefeng was now experiencing it firsthand.

"Steady your mind. Keep the outflow of your Spiritual Power stable," Fang Yun reminded him as he worked.

The mont the pain struck, Lu Zefeng’s Spiritual Power had beco extrely unstable.

Fang Yun could control it for a short period, but he wouldn’t be able to maintain it for long.

Therefore, the most critical part of this final step depended on Lu Zefeng himself.

"Understood!"

Gritting his teeth, Lu Zefeng began his battle against the pain, focusing on stabilizing his Spiritual Power.

The process lasted for a full quarter of an hour.

By the ti the arm was fully connected, Lu Zefeng was drenched in sweat, his face deathly pale.

"Done."

Fang Yun withdrew his control over his Spiritual Power. The arm, a Magical Artifact, was now completely connected to Lu Zefeng.

Lu Zefeng, sitting on the floor and propping himself up with his left hand, began to gasp for breath.

After a long while, Fang Yun finally asked.

"Senior Brother, how does it feel?"

"It feels... strange." Lu Zefeng didn’t know how to describe the sensation.

The arm felt like it was his, but also not his.

"You’ll get used to it. After all, its movents must be sustained with Spiritual Power." As he spoke, Fang Yun took out a piece of paper and began to take notes. "What is the Spiritual Power consumption like for everyday movents?"

This Artifact Refining session was a brand-new experint for Fang Yun as well.

With the information he was recording, he would be able to make better adjustnts if a similar situation arose in the future.
