Chapter 29: Wolves?

Arthur:

Near the center of the camp on the right side, shortly before Dark appeared on the right wall.

"What’s this noise?" I moved through the dark corridor, searching for an exit from the prison.

"Tch... I should’ve at least asked for a way out. Haven’t found one for a while." I lanted my current situation.

Hmm... what’s this... is there an earthquake or what? The ground has been shaking since I left my cell.

I looked around to find many cells that contained many prisoners while I walked.

So were chained, and others lay on torture beds, etc...

Seems I’m way too late to save them; most are dead. And so are insane... Ugh, I really want to get out of here quickly. Even though I have the soul of a hero, my instinct for self-preservation won over.

I continued walking through the dark corridor, wishing to find an exit and end this pitch-black darkness I’m in.

After a while, my hopes ca true when I found stairs leading upward, ending with a large door, from whose keyhole shone a dazzling blue moonlight.

Finally found it... I ran up the stairs quickly, overjoyed.

I reached a door three ters tall and two ters wide.

I pushed it, but unfortunately, it was locked. Seems like, foolishly, I forgot to take the keys from the guard—and logically, they wouldn’t leave it open.

Tch, I have no other choice.

"Anger." My skin turned light red as steam rose. I sent my fist toward the iron door, sending it flying several ters.

"Fiuuuh... finally, a bit of freedom. Hmm? Wow! What’s going on here?" As the dust cleared, I looked at a very interesting sight.

Fires... wolves!? Wolves?!

"Ehhh... seems this escape will have plenty of obstacles." I inhaled a lot of oxygen while gripping my sword’s handle.

"Hmm? You see as easy prey? Try ."

Imdiately, I was targeted by three wolves that had rushed in after the noise of the flying door.

I drew my sword from its sheath and aid it toward the three wolves coming at , snarling for the fresh at before them.

The wolves circled around —one to the left, one to the right, and one in front.

Are these wolves trying to outmaneuver ? Seems they’re quite smart. I observed them, waiting for their movents with patience and caution.

They didn’t let wait long before the wolf on the left lunged with its jaws toward my hand.

"Goodbye!" I swiftly swung my sword with trendous force toward it.

When the wolf saw the sword coming at it, it leapt back with a snarl and a glint in its eyes.

"Yo yo yo... what’s this? Intelligence?"

It dodged! Was that a trap from it? Or am I just clumsy with a sword? I’ll go with the second one—the forr owner of this body didn’t take swordsmanship lessons seriously.

While I was thinking, the wolf on the right attacked, biting my hand with great force.

"Hehe..." I laughed and quickly moved my left hand to punch the wolf’s face, but the one on the left used my distraction and bit my left hand.

"Wait your turn, why so fast?" I clenched my fist despite the wolf’s bite on my wrist, punched it in the face, and sent it stumbling back.

I changed the way I held the sword, flipping its hilt toward , and stabbed the wolf that had bitten my left hand right in the chest.

It fell dead to the ground, its bite wound healing.

"Ahhhh... and now, let end your suffering." I looked at the wolf that had gone mad from my punch and finished it with a stab to the head.

"Hmm... won’t you attack like your brothers?"

"Arrrrgh!"

"Arrrgh!"

"Arghhh!"

The remaining wolf growled furiously at , as if it wished I’d die in a fraction of a second if it could.

"Eh... sorry, were those two dear to you? But they deserved it." I stood in a fighting stance, waiting for its move.

But the wolf didn’t attack first; instead, it howled with all its might.

"Oooooooooooooo!"

"Hmm... what does that an? Calling its brothers? Then I should attack it and run quickly."

Before I could move, the wolf launched at in a suicidal charge aiming for my neck—only to end up dead, split into two pieces.

"Ughhh... disgusting... ughhh this sll. What a ss... is this a wolf attack on the camp? What’s going on here? I need to escape before more wolves show up. Right... where was the exit gate?"

"I think I just need to go the opposite way of the cave until I find the exit door..." I looked at the gray screen appearing in front of .

Rewind a bit—to the mont when the wolf that Arthur killed howled.

I was fighting a group of three people, surrounding the fresh at. Suddenly, I raised my ears and heard my brother’s howl, calling for help.
